Review Sonder - Bakersfield

Food was so darn good! I had the grinder- Amazing! Huge portions and the atmosphere was awesome. But the people are the best kinds of people. Happy lunch day!

Good food but the service was slow and missed items. Even after we asked for what was missing it took 30 min more for the food. By then we were ready to leave.

Service was great and fast. Cocktails are yummy. Food comes in big portions! Even the appetizers! Look at the charcuterie plate! Recommended!

Sat at the bar which was left dirty even after they cleaned up the glasses. Ordered a bourbon with light ice which I got a glass almost 3/4 full of ice. Ordered the ahi tuna which was overcooked. Never given any silverware or a napkin until I asked and never asked if i wanted another drink. Cool atmosphere with the couches and patio but nothing made it worth a second try.

Got the Shrute! The place was very busy and the servers were swamped, but the food was good 👍

Service was excellent, which is not easy to find these days for sure. Unique menu with very tasty selections. The watermelon margarita is extra refreshing. Must try the bruschetta appetizers with brie. Even the brownie sundae is enjoyable regardless of how full you may be. But it does have plenty of loose nuts so a caution to those with allergies. Only thing I would say I miss is an espresso after dinner, otherwise a very fine dining experience

Love this place! The patio is great for brunch and the bottomless mimosas are a great value. It’s ideal for a lazy Sunday afternoon with friends.

I don't do 5-star reviews very often and specially not at a place a few weeks old. But, this place hit it out of the park. Our server, Cassie delivered flawless service. The place is beautiful. The food is phenomenal! I had the best fried chicken ever. This place looks fancy when you walk in with a mixture of traditional tables and couches with big coffee tables to eat in a casual style or some really fancy large booths with big comfy couch type seating. That fried chicken....I can't stop. It was marinaded in buttermilk for a long time...I'll tell you that. It also had a smokey taste to it under that glorious coating. My wife had the Cubano sandwich which was also amazing and HOMEMADE chips. We also had a bruschetta platter and I going to guess they make that bread there. The mashed potatoes and gravy that went with my chicken was to die for. The best part.......the pricing is really, really reasonable. This same meal in Los Angeles at a comparable style restaurant would easily be double. Big props to manager Shannon Leach for taking the time to visit our table and see how our meal was. Classy!!!

We love this place. The ambiance, food, cocktails, menu variety. All of it. We had the blackened shrimp tacos and the ahi poke salad. They were both amazing. I always say- it's the sauce that makes a phenomenal seafood taco. They nailed it. I love how the signature cocktail list changes quarterly. I will be working down that list! The space, vibe and patio are pretty cool. This will be a for sure date day/night place for us to visit on the regular. Whomever was in charge of decor and style- you did awesome!

We went for the first time on Mother’s Day and I can’t say enough great stuff about this place! I can’t think of any place in Bakersfield that has such an eclectic blend of amazing flavors and a really fun atmosphere. Being our first visit we actually had a hard time deciding from all the great sounding choices. We ended up deciding on a couple different appetizers and entrees to share between the five of us family style and we were all very full and even more impressed with the flavor combinations. I ordered the Sonder Burrito with country potatoes (didn’t expect to see that on the menu when we walked in) and I already know I’m ordering the same on my next visit it was so delicious! Very distinct Smokey and just the right amount of spicy flavors with tons of avocado and fluffy scrambled eggs wrapped in what tasted like a homemade tortilla. WOW! Everything was awesome and the staff was very friendly and engaging so I would wholeheartedly recommend Sonder to anyone that’s interested in something very different and wow delicious!

We went to Sonder in hopes of having really good poutine, and man were we sorely disappointed. The food was horribly salty, and what was called poutine was nothing like actual poutine. Not even close. Does the chef or the cooks know what poutine is? The philly steak sandwich wasn’t bad, except that like the “poutine,” it was exceptionally salty. The reason it gets two stars and not one was because they have a decent beer on tap, and the staff was friendly. Will not be returning.

The food was excellent! We tried the appetizer shrimp tacos, the fried chicken,and the patty melt. Everything was delicious. The patty melt was the best I have had in a long time. The staff was super attentive and the vibe was great. So happy to have something new & different!

I've been in only twice now, and already love the place. It's comfortable, it's aesthetically pleasing, it's trendy without being excluding, and most importantly, the food has been amazing. On the first visit we tried a Pub Board, with meats, cheeses, spreads, garnishes, and all sorts of other little offerings. You can experiment, mix and match, and develop new combos. My only critique would be that more bread slices, or a small assortment of crackers, would be appreciated. We also tried the carbonara pasta, and the cioppino. Both delish! Second visit was for lunch, so we shared an order of Poutine... (I can't even start on how GOOD that was, because this review will be a novel. Order it. Enjoy it. Plan a nap-time.). I got the Sputnik turkey sandwich with house made chips, and my boyfriend got the Cubano with coleslaw. Both were good, but we were still raving over the poutine. The broccoli apple slaw could use a little more apple, or some other form of acid element. The chips were perfect. Before we left we calculated how many times we'd have to go back so we could try everything on the menu. We decided once a week would have to suffice, though we'd both be happy eating there a few times a week. Do I recommend them? Absolutely yes. Also remember that many of the menu items are a shareable size, so you should take me with you.

I've eaten here a few times and each time the service was been fantastic and the food was even better. Reasonable prices and in a pretty good location. The atmosphere inside is very relaxing and comfortable. I think I found a new favorite spot to eat!

Incredibly relaxing, open and fun atmosphere, not to mention the food and drinks are on point. I recommend trying the fried chicken and Lemonada. Those items have me obsessed. ��

All I can say was great service and I'm amazed how our waiter can remember 7 orders without writing it down the mac & cheese bacon burger was amazing.

Very good Vibe! Food was great and The Bartender suggested a good citrus flavored beer for me after they didn't have the cocktail I wanted. Will recommend and go back! �

The food was excellent, we were there to celebrate my sons birthday. They loved their dinner and we loved our dinner as well! We split the short ribs and they just melted in our mouth, yummy! Our daughter in law gave us a bite of her fried chicken and it was very tender and delicious. The only complaint that we have is the chairs were uncomfortable!

Amazing place for Bakersfield with a great staff and awesome looking place, the food is soooooo good too!

Cute patio for dining and I can’t stop thinking about their Burrata plate and Ahi Poke salad. I was just there last evening and meeting a friend again today for lunch.

My hubby and I tried this place out today simply bc it was new... and it's now our new favorite!!!!!! The food was unique but not scary, amazingly flavorful and priced more fair than almost anywhere! The decor was also above and beyond (including the very clean bathrooms), and the patio and bar looks so cool. We will definitely be returning with friends to just drink and chill. I also loved the background music. Great for casual, business or a romantic date.

Horrible. We actually cancelled our order and left. We sat on the patio that only had tables to in the sun, no shade what so ever. It's hot in Bakersfield... shade the patio. Our waitress forgot our order and had to come back and ask us 20 minutes later. Flat drinks. And very shitty atmosphere all around. If you're going to be stuck up make sure everything is on point. So glad we didn't waste money here.

We used to love this place but went to dinner tonight and waited for 15mins and not a single staff member even came to get bring us water it ask if we needed anything. The place wasn’t even half full on a Friday night at 5:30. Got up and walked out and the hostess didn’t even realize they had just seated us and said “have a good night”. We won’t be going back any time soon.

Had lunch, Cuban sandwich was good and the home made patato chips very good. Went back for dinner, ordered ribeye. Was just ok... nothing special, I was a little disappointed (especially for the price) wasn't the best cut of meat. But the grilled broccoli was Very good. I also ordered a side of mac & cheese, was some of the best I ever had. Atmosphere is nice with cozy seating. Service was slow and needs improvement.

Great food, and great atmosphere! We sat on the patio, which was awesome, and ordered a couple of cocktails. Very nice experience. We will definitely be back
