If you are doing some shopping at Crocker park or in Avon start off at Cafe Melissa. Breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong. I had the Carolina this morning with bacon . The cheese grits took me back to being a youngster in the south eating at my grandmother's. The service was great and the food very filling. The potatoes were delicious all I could say was Wow. So please pop over to Walker rd. And 83 and stop in at cafe Melissa's you will go back! 13 Bucks with a good cup of coffee, what a deal!

Had our family breakfast this past Sunday at Cafe Melissa. Chicken & Waffles were fantastic. Waffles had the perfect sweetness to them before adding syrup. Served with potatoes that were drizzled with what tasted like a ranch dressing maybe. All and all, fantastic breakfast, glad I went with this dish.

I will say at first I was disappointed to see that the crab omelette is no longer on the menu. So my server recommend the crab cake brunch... Holy moly! It was delicious. Crab cakes on top of a fried green tomato! The Chipotle ranch drizzled on the side was the perfect amount of heat to truly make the breakfast pop.. and as always the red skin potatoes with ranch on the side are perfectly done. My wife's chicken wrap was exceptionally delicious as well. My mother inlaw had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. I will definitely be trying that next time.

Book club met there today. Restaurant was very dirty, rugs and floors covered with trash. Tables in the back room were sticky. Ordered bowl of matzo ball soup, cold . Bill was $6.40. I gave the waitress $20.00 and she gave me $13.00 in change. Short changed .60 cents, not much, but it was the principle of the thing.
Very disappointed.

At the recommendation of friends, we did a to-go order using the drive-through. Though they said the salmon was awesome, we went with the encrusted walleye and the eggplant Parmesan. But started off with fried green tomatoes. It’s taken me a while to convince my boyfriend to give it a try, but now that he has, He is sold! We are both enjoying the flavors in our mouth after our meal and we will definitely go back.

I can't say enough about the food at Café Melissa...
I met my husband there for a late birthday lunch and had as my appetizer the deep fried brussel sprouts in ponzu sauce! Let me tell you about these real quick Even if you don't like brussel sprouts you're going to love these! So delicious and it's something that I get every single time I go there I just can't get past how delicious they are! For my entree I had the pistachio encrusted grouper that was out of this world served on a bed of roasted sweet potatoes or maybe it was roasted butternut squash I can't tell it was delicious though with jicama slaw and peppers the sauce on it was phenomenal. Chef Matthew cooked to perfection as always!!!
My husband had the southwestern Cobb salad which can be served with a protein He chose the crab cakes which he said were very good. All in all this was a fabulous birthday luncheon. Are waitress was on point always ready to come by and fill our water glasses and was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only downside was they used to serve this cake It was called birthday cake It was the best cake I've ever had in my life. I'm not sure if it was when they had sweet Melissa's bakery or if it was from an outside source but I wish somehow they could get it back because I would really love to taste that cake again. If you found my review helpful give it a thumbs up and go check out Cafe Melissa for yourself You will love it!
P.S. honorable mention goes to another meal that you can get there which is the brick chicken but it does take 20 minutes or so extra it's so worth it it's deliciously juicy tasting amazing chicken that they literally hold down with a wrapped brick. It comes with macaroni and cheese and lemony green beans.

The portions are on the small side, not necessarily a bad thing, especially when the prices are in line with the portions and they are at Cafe Melissa. Service is quick and courteous and the joint is well lit if a bit oddly laid out with dividers between tables that don't seem to belong there. There's an outside seating area but that's a good weather only proposition.

Waffles were too sweet and too hard. Corned beef hash was very salty. Biscuits were overcooked. Overall, I would not recommend this place.
