Second visit and not disappointed. Wait was short, we sat outside & staff were quick to set up umbrellas. We tried the crab cakes and our breakfast orders were great. We will definitely be back on our SLO visits. Also, staff were great and an older gentleman coming around clearing tables, talking to customers made our visit that much more enjoyable. He took an interest in everyone.
Fat Catz is one of our favorite places to have a late breakfast! Anytime we our in Avila/ Pismo area! The food never disappoints! � But this time we had a lot of wait time. Waiting for the food and the bill. But hey, when we get to get away from work and responsibilities we are not in any hurry. Especially, when sitting in such a lovely spot! The bus guys were awesome in tending to our needs so that was cool! Made up for the wait time! �

My hubby and i were finishing up a 2 week pre-retirement rving trip. We stopped at avila cuz we can park right on the ocean :). We went to have dinner and it was raining so no patio dining w the pooch :(. We ordered some burgers to go and they were delicious! Had our meal watching the waves out the front window:) Thanks Fat Cats Cafe!!!
The breakfast wait was well worth it. We had some of the specials and were not disappointed. The staff was great, we shared some good laughs. All around good time. Thanks!
Enjoyed breakfast there Tuesday AM. Absolutely the best Seafood Omelet. The Host and "man that signs the paychecks." Added to the fun and the welcoming atmosphere. Great view!!
Had fish and chips and my friends had the open face lobster sandwichs. All was amazing including the clam chowder AND the service. Been going to Fat...Cats...for years. If there is,a line...ve patient...worth the wait!
Favorite place to come when in the Avila & Pismo area!! Clam chowder bread bowl is amazing! Fast and friendly service everytime we go there!

Had the Chicken fried steak for breakfast and it was great. Excellent service and great scenery. Next time I am out west I will stop in.
Best Mother's Day ever, great service, friendly staff and roses for all the mother's at our table. We had 15 in our party and the service was amazing, the owner thanked us for coming and we will be back next year. Clam chowder with chopped Lobster was amazing. We will be back soon.
We always stop at Fat Cats at least once usually more when visiting the area. Seafood omelette is to die for.
Yesterday I had the Avila burger. It was the best burger I've had anywhere! Excellent!

Great service and great food. It's awesome sitting outside and enjoying the view of the pier and the beach at Avila! Always a family tradition to enjoy Fat Cats with the delicious onion rings! The fresh cod is always a favorite. I prefer the grilled but the fried is also delicious. Their tarter sauce has dill and real onion in it! Try the cocktail sauce also. You won't be disappointed!

I got the ahi tuna tacos which were absolutely delicious they were a great size and can't with rice and beans. The amount of sushi grade who tuna in there made these tacos delectable and a great deal! and my husband got the oysters and chips which he said was delicious as well. The service was great and there was no wait. Cute little place close to the pier.
I've been here a few times, and the food, service, and atmosphere are all really good.
My wife had the stuffed shrimp, and I had the stuffed salmon. We both stole from each other's plates and agreed that the food was fantastic. The Clam Chowder is some of the best we've tried in the area. Will continue to return and recommend!
The food was as good as I remember, service was really nice. Has an OK view of the bay from the patio that can be obscured by vehicles in the parking lot. Lots of patio seating, but smaller indoors. Definitely worth the visit. Had an opened faced crab sandwich and a grilled fish sandwich. Both were very tasty. I debated the breakfast which is served all day
My husband selected Fat Cats for lunch on vacation because he used to be a regular 30+ years ago. I can't rave enough about our experience! We actually got there between the lunch and dinner rushes and were met by extremely friendly crew! The diner was pleasantly decorated and the seating was comfortable. However nothing prepared me for my meal. I ordered the ahi burger. It was perfectly seasoned, cooked, and accompanied. Definitely will stop by every visit to this part of Cali!!!
We have eaten at Fats Cats Cafe in Avila for our anniversary. We stayed in Avila for 3 days and we are at this restaurant twice in 2 days. Great menu selections, I ordered tubes and tentacles for breakfast (calamari lol) they still delivered great tasting food. My husband’s seafood eggs Benedict and ham eggs Benedict was delicious. The view was amazing, overlooking Avila Beach. The service was fast and food came out in a timely manner.
We came here for breakfast since the menu we saw online looked great and I'm glad we did! They looked packed but still made room for our 8 person party! Eating outside was very refreshing too! I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham and received a huge ham steak under my poached eggs, phew it was filling! My husband and dad got the biscuits and gravy and I poured some gravy over my potatoes, wow it was delicious! My son ordered a kids pancake breakfast and shared that with our toddler daughter, it was plenty! The staff was extra friendly, our food came in a timely manner, really there is no complaints! Oh if your child likes hot chocolate I'd recommend it, it comes out with a huge mountain of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle!
Loved the food - fish and chips, snapper, tacos! All delish and the service was great! Very accommodating and patio perfect at sunset!
Food was good, huevos rancheros was delicious. Server was friendly and I'm Only giving 3 stars for service because it wasn't super busy but I never had my coffee refilled or asked about it, when it's breakfast being served and coffee is around my pet peeve is no refilling. Definitely a fun little spot for food.
Staff was so accommodating... the owner popped in and was a delight to convenverse with. The fish tacos were to die for! All of it was great! Best fried green beans! I'm sad I didn't try the chowder. Looks like I'll be going back!
I've been going here over 30 years and have always been pleased.
The reason I gave it a three star for atmosphere is because they don't allow dogs outside on the patio. I would as would others eat there more often if we were allowed to have fido too.
Once we took our food to go, then sat at the benches near the rest rooms. Another time we took food to go, bought our drinks at the Mermaid Market and at their tables and we were welcome to have fido. But lost the sale of our drinks.
But all around great place. Potions are generous.
