Review Gumbos On The Lake - Austin

My rating system is simple, if the food came or good and the service was great relative to the price, I will rate a restaurant highly. A bit disappointed reading some of these other reviews because my wife and I had an excellent experience. She ordered the half poboy combo while I had a Caesar salad with a cup of gumbo. Overall a great restaurant and we will be coming back! Atmosphere - the decor of Bon Temps is amazing. It feels very warm inside while also offering incredible views of the lake. Service - Our waiter Aaron did a great job of taking care of us throughout our meal. We were seated quickly and our food came out fast. Aaron checked in several times and refilled our waters without us having to ask. Creole Caesar Salad - A delicious Caesar salad with a touch of Cajun. I ordered the salad plain but you have the option of getting it with fish or shrimp. The salad was crisp and the scratch made dressing was rich without being overpowering. Half Poboy Combo - this combo came with a very large half portion on the shrimp poboy, along with fries and a cup of Gumbo. The shrimp were very tasty with the breading being light and cooked just right. My wife especially liked the bread used for the sandwich. I loved the French fries that it came with. I am a French fry fanatic and these tasted great, you can tell that they were made from fresh potatoes vs frozen. Chicken and Sausage Gumbo - Very large portion of Gumbo with generous helpings of chicken and sausage. Came out very hot and I enjoyed it on this cold day. Shrimp Seafood Gumbo - my wife chose the shrimp gumbo and this one was equally tasty. Lots of shrimp included!

I ordered the chicken-mushroom. It was tasty. The pasta sauce was spot on and the chicken was nicely seasoned. I also ordered the bread pudding to split with my family and that was also very delicious, not too sweet. Later the waiter brought us another dessert for free as they made an extra by accident. Will definitely return soon!

I had the special of the day, and was really impressed with the presentation of the dish and how perfectly seasoned my fish was! I have to say that the raw oysters were pretty incredible too. Justin was absolutely accommodating with every little (and slightly off-kilter) request I made. Great Service!! All of this and a magnificent view...I'll definitely return when I'm back in the area! :0)

New place that recently opened on the lake. The establishment is very clean and the service was great. The food was great especially their gumbo. Pretty much closed down the place. The views are incredible.

We had a great experience yesterday. From the wine selection to the appetizer to the main course. Our food did take a little time to come out which was expected considering it is made fresh to order and by a chef instead of already prepared food that is just being place on the plate and served. I could honestly say that the food was very well prepared and the seasoning was amazing as well. We also noticed the time difference between our appetizer and the main entree being served in regard to time. We enjoyed our Oyster Rockefeller, wine, conversation and beautiful scenery before we were bombarded with a main course. I do not like recieving my main course in the midst of enjoying my appetizers. Also, a main attraction of the restaurant is THE VIEW. So being able to sit back and enjoy the view as our food was precisely served was comforting. We also had a waitress change in the midst of our experience here and it did not take away from our experience at all. The service was great.

I really enjoy this restaurant and the views from the outside eating area are amazing because the restaurant overlooks Lake Travis. I've only had the seafood and it's been great every time and there are enough options to keep it interesting. In addition, the cocktails and wine are good. Overall, the food is great, the views are amazing, and the staff have always been attentive. However, this restaurant is a little pricey and you get what you pay for.

The food was really good, awesome flavor. It could have come out alot warmer though. We order the crawfish gumbo and it was a bit cold but again great flavor. We shared a dozen oysters and they were some of the best I've ever had, very fresh and not smelly. We also ordered the Salmon Rockafeller and it was delicious.. The drinks my husband ordered seemed to not have the alcohol it should have, diluted. Overall experience was really nice, great view. If they'd up there game a bit I'd give them a 5 star rating.

We were about to leave the Oasis to eat in another place when someone hand us a flier for this restaurant. We arrived around 5pm. We were a bit skeptical because the restaurant was empty but we decided to give it a shot. I am glad we did! The food was really good. The salads, the beef pasta, the chicken mushroom pasta, the dirty rice and the jambalaya rice. The sautéed veggies... yummy. The atmosphere is really nice and the views of the lake are stunning. Our server Yanina was magnificent! Thank you Yana, we had a great time at Bob Temps. We will be coming back!

Was visiting a friend in Austin, and she took me to Bon Temps. We were greeted right away and had to wait a bit for a table outside, it was worth it, so we decided to hang out at the bar till our table was ready. Mexican martini was good and strong. Our server Cidney was great and fun. We had spinach salad and stuffed mushrooms for a starter, my friend had the shrimp and craw fish pasta and i had Honey Jack Burger with fries, for desert we ordered peach cobbler it was all AMAZING!!! Its a must go place!

Excellent service and excellent food. Very friendly and fast service of really yummy food. Me and a friend popped in for lunch. We split a Shrimp Jaz appetizer which came out quick and looked great. I had the Muffaletta for my main, and my friend had the Gumbo Burger (which sounds kinda crazy but was pretty awesome too). The server was super nice and we had a great time. Will be going back for dinner soon.

We "discovered" this place after learning of the 1.5 hours wait for a table at the Oasis Restaurant. It was a good find... just a few steps and around the corner from the Oasis. I had the blackened catfish with dirty rice which was very tasty. My only regret was that the menu implied a side dish of jambalaya, only to find when the food came that there was a very very small portion served on the plate... just barely enough to savor the flavor of the jambalaya....so disappointed and so misleading. The service could be improved upon..i.e, providing basic table needs without having to be asked, like silverware, napkins & bread. Otherwise the food was good, a little pricey, but I would go back again.
