Review Budare’s Venezuelan Food - Austin

Really yummy empanadas and cheese sticks! Made fresh and hot! The sauce goes very well with the cheese sticks too. It’s my first time trying out Venezuelan cuisine and I must say I love it! The owners are very friendly too :)

How do you rate a good truck? I feel like if you honestly rated them against all restaurants, they'd be quite low. It's not the same experience. So I'm going to rate it against other food trucks. It's a decent food truck court, but not in a nice tree grove or anything. The food is a tough one. This is traditional Argentinian food. It's a bit different from what we're used too, but I think it's tasty and has some Americanized aspects that make it more accessible. The owner is fantastically informative, friendly, and interested in helping you find something you like. One thing I would have found better..it was lat lunch period and at that point the options in the empanadas were pretty limited. Maybe they are better if you arrive earlier in the day.

Reina pepiada arepa was amazing! The cilantro sauce and plantains were delicious. My husband got the carne mechada cachapa and the tequeños and everything we had was 10/10. Sad it took us this long to discover this place, and can’t wait to come back for more!!

How many times do you eat in a day? Venezuelans have 3 main meals: a large breakfast, a large dinner (around noon) and a light supper in the evening. Their food is influenced by European, West African and Native American traditions. Their social culture is very much like Asian cultures - collaborative, community based and collectivist. So if you visit someone in Venezuela they will feed you! Cachapas is one of their most popular dishes and my favorite too. It is a thick, tasty pancakes made from maize (sweetcorn) and served with a slab of white cheese called “queso de mano”, topped with lashing of margarine. The sweetness of the maize and the creaminess of the cheese paired. Add a bit of pulled pork or shredded beef and it provides an explosion of flavors from the texture and saltiness of the meat. Cachapas in Venezuela’s culinary history dates back to pre-Colombian times. The indigenous people used stone pestles to grind corn and cook it on clay budares flat griddle plates cachapa-style. Originally only made by the locals in the state of Bolivar, you can now enjoy it right here at Budare’s on Burnet. It was lovely to meet Carmen at Budare’s. They have been serving Authentic Venezuelan food in Austin for several years now. They were the first Venezuelan food truck in Austin and they paved the path for others to open as well. We can delightfully say we have added another Venezuelan favorite to our list alongside @auroravenezuelanfood

Loved the food. I have always loved Venezuelan food, so it's so great to find a great place in Austin. This trailer is part of a cool trailer park on Burnet Rd. Go early as they run out of stuff but regardless it's all good. Favorite treat is the passion fruit juice. Fantastic cachapa.

Hands down the best Venezuelan spot I've tried anywhere in the U.S. I tried the cachapa, beef and plantain arepa, and empanada with plantains and beef and they were each super good. The arepa had the best crunchy texture I've had on any arepa. The woman running the truck, Carmen, was super amazing and full of passion for her food. The quality of the food reflects her passion. Highly recommend if you're in Austin

The Arepa with Carne Mechada is amazing. The tequeños are cheesy and go so well with the sauce. The owner is very friendly and even gave us a free soda because of a small delay.

We got empanadas and the woman working made them from scratch on the spot. They were very yummy! The dough was a little sweet and the beef was very flavorful. A great combo. The cheese was great too. We had empanadas with just cheese and just meat. I'm not sure if there's one with both, but I'll ask next time. There was also green sauce, which wasn't spicy but was very good. The entire menu was very well priced.

Yummy Venezuelan food! The person there was so busy and had just arrived from a catering gig that made them open later than advertised according to them. I wasn’t aware of this until they shared with me and that explained the vibes which were frantic and rushed as I ordered… anyhow I think the food was so good that I plan to return 🦥

My wife and I have lived in Texas for just over a year. We have gone to three Venezuelan food trucks. Budares, is by far the best. Family owned and the family is amazing. This location is ran by the mother and she is supported by her three boys. They have the most delicious tequeños or cheese sticks, chicken rice bowl and my favorite, their empanadas(made with cornmeal😋)!!! If you are in ATX. Do yourself the favor and stop by Budares!!

Very unique food. Food truck owner was very polite. I had the beef Cachapa which was delicious. I will surely return to this place whenever I am back in Austun. This place generally has a very good option of food trucks and a good vibe

Went here for the first time after passing it for years. I got a pulled chicken cachapa (pollo mechado) for lunch with plantains and a fried egg for toppings. It was one of the best things I've had in Austin in a long time. The cachapa came out like a savory crepe and every bite was great. The toppings and the chicken were all together in the cachapa and everything tasted home made and fresh. I have no idea if this is authentic or not but I can't believe I slept on this place.

The food is unique in Austin. I've never seen this type of corn pancake. It's delicious.

This is a nice place to experience traditional venezuelan food. The selection is not too big but it has the most popular items and the service is great. Everything I tried was excellent.

Every time I go to get lunch here I’m shocked there’s not a line. The food is 100/10 and the owner is such a sweetheart! I always order a chicken arepa with either a coke or one of the specialty juices 😋
