El Caribe - Austin - Photo album

We had dinner at El Caribe on a Sunday at 6pm. The place was completely empty, but we wanted to try somewhere new. I thought it was pretty solid Mexican food. Puffy tacos and a chile relleno. I actually really liked the rice and beans. The salsa has a nice kick to it. Yelp reviews complained about s
My favorite place for lunch and dinner. Mom (I respectfully call her Doña, although she sure is simply Maria) personally prepares every meal, and daughter "Miss" Karla (she calls me "Mr. Sam", so...), proprietors of El Caribe, a truly supurb, truly home-cooking restaurant for 25 years, serve a loya
Excellent food as always. Been coming here for over 2 decades, since before marriage and kids and when it was called Salcitas. Same quality. Same cook. Same deliciousness. 😋 Covid and telework has clearly caused them to downsize their operations. I miss the salsa bar they used to have. The pineapple
If you want great authentic Mexican food than this is the place to go. We started off with appetizers of Mexican shrimp cocktail as well as the guacamole and both were amazing! For dinner we all sampled fish tacos, burritos, flautas and enchiladas. Everything was delicious! For drinks the Margaritas
Fantastic hole in the wall. My wife claims best mole en Tejas. The pescado plates are outstanding. Margaritas are the best (but kind of sweet this time) and ask for the habanero salsa if you like your scalp to sweat.
Had an incredible experience at this restaurant! Very nice and quaint atmosphere. Family owned and operated, and the family runs the business. They are excellent cooks! Had the red snapper filet. Was very flaky, seasoned perfectly, and very delicious! There are many places to eat in Austin, but you
Authentic fare with amazing flavor. The spicy sour cream enchiladas were out of this world. Fried cheesecake dessert was delicious. Atmosphere festive and busy.
We have been going to El Caribe for 25 years…in the early days it was called by another name. It has been a consistently good, family-run, neighborhood spot over the years. The queso and salsas are excellent. Rice (Spanish, cilantro), and beans (charro, black, refried) are yummy. We love the enchil
6 or 8 terrific salsas, including ones that are truly hot. One of the best lunch specials in town as well. Has the same adorable waitress working there forever.
Are you looking for the best Mexican food in Austin? El Caribe is your spot. Carla, the owner, is as spicy as her salsa. Which, btw, is made fresh daily. Try the #1 combo, Chicken Flautas, and don’t skip the Queso Flameado! Go ahead and try the margarita’s while you’re at it. Fun spot for a Friday a
Fried cheesecake. It was awesome. Almost ordered more. The food was delicious and service was excellent. First time here and I was not disappointed. I will definitely be going back.
Family. You'll meet Carla, and she doesn't mess around. The food is unimpeachable, and so is the service. Margarita too strong? You were warned. Salsa not your jam? Ask. There is genius in this place. Love lives here.
Long time Austin restaurant, locally owned. Some of my favorite salsa could mes from this restaurant. They have a good variety of food on their menu including authentic Mexican dishes and lots of sea food. Service is great, facility is very clean and well kept for an older Austin building. Bathrooms
Ordered takeout for my co-workers and myself since usual spot wasn't open. We were pleased with the lunch specials, prices portions and selection. Will definitely add to the rotation for lunch to-go. Would consider dining in post Covid. Service was friendly and fast. :-) I got the chicken enchilada
Margs on the rocks are super good if you like them strong. A great selection of amazing salsa. Wonderful, unique entrees
