Review Top Notch Restaurant - Austin

I have been coming here for years. Longhorn is the way to go! Front of House made me feel rushed, and there was no line, but the experience was saved by the amazing personality of the man running the grill. He made us feel welcome. Top Notch Hamburgers is a classic Austin restaurant that has been serving up delicious burgers and fried chicken since 1971. I love the retro atmosphere and the friendly carhop service. The burgers are charcoal-grilled and juicy, and the fried chicken is crispy and flavorful. I highly recommend the Top Notch Burger with bacon and cheese, and the fried chicken sandwich. I've been to both Top Notch locations in Austin, and they're both great. The Burnet Road location is more central, but the Hutto location is less crowded. Either way, you're sure to have a great meal at Top Notch Hamburgers.

Food is great with the exception of the hickory burger special. It’s just sauce and a burger. The rest of their food is amazing! Check it out! Alright alright alright….

Full disclosure: I only wanted to visit Top Notch because it's in one of my favorite films of all time, Dazed And Confused. That said, Top Notch is amazing all on its own! I brought my family to Top Notch. Myself and my son both had cheeseburger combos. The burgers were delicious and the fries were plentiful. My wife got a hamburger and she loved it. My daughter had chicken tenders. She said that the country gravy was excellent. My brother and his wife also joined us and they both had fried chicken dinners. That chicken looked great! I plan on getting that on my next trip. The atmosphere is pure 1970s. From the wood paneling to the photo booth, Top Notch definitely captures the spirit of one of the best decades. The staff was friendly and made conversation with customers while ordering and while dining. Yes, there's a little area dedicated to Dazed And Confused, and it's worth visiting for that alone, but be sure to check out the great food and service at Top Notch as well!

A time capsule of the retro times and popular culture that match the aesthetic in taste and ambiance. The food is exactly how it should be. The burgers are delicious and the fries make a perfect meal. Restaurant was very nice and the staff were nice and welcoming. Everything is very clean, requested a to go box and the lady put on gloves. The cashier also forgot to add something to the order and was nice enough ti bring it out complimentary. I had heard good things about this restaurant and it surpassed my expectations.

Great homestyle chargrilled burgers, good fries and rings. My wife got the fried shrimp and said they were good also. Counter service folks were friendly and courteous. Definitely fun visiting the yesteryear feel of a drive-in burger joint, we will return. Excellent malts too!

Top Notch on Burnet in Austin is an iconic and classic spot in Austin that has been serving up great charbroiled burgers and friendly customer service since 1971. And their carhops still work! The menu is simple and the burgers are charbroiled to perfection. The onion rings are also a must-order. I would argue the best onion rings in Austin I would also recommend the Top Pick Burger or the Longhorn Burger. Their Fries Chicken is also made very well. The service at Top Notch is always friendly and attentive. It is a great place to go for a casual lunch or dinner.

Cool place with retro-flair and great burgers. The burgers are simple and straight forward but the charcoal grilled flavor makes the difference. I will definately come back again.

This place is kind of a blast from the past. It’s been here since the 1970s and it looks like they haven’t remodeled much of it. That being said the atmosphere is so chill. They also have a drive up which is super dope. I went inside but I did consider going to the drive up. I ordered the veggie burger 🍔 with tots and a large drink 🥤 The lemonade I got was super good. I had to water it down just a tad because it was a bit sweet for me. The burger was delicious. They have a charcoal grill and it makes a difference with how you make the food. I loved my burger the taste was so much better. The only thing that took away from it was they use American cheese 🧀 and I don’t like it. It’s a personal preference and they didn’t ask so I assumed it would be cheddar. If there was cheddar I think this would be a 5star place!

This is always a fun place to eat at when visiting the Shoal Creek area. They are opening up a Top Notch in Hutto and we are super excited. I always get a cheeseburger and onion rings. Will gets the fried shrimp and fish. You get a ton of rings. This place must be close to 50 plus years old. Wonder place the ambience of an old world dinner.

This place is cool, not because they have a stellar over the top retro burger joint vibe, but because they don't. They don't try too hard to be a steak n shake clone. It feels like this place was opened in 1975, and just never changed. It feels distinctly authentic and even small townish (in a nice way), despite being in Austin. The burgers were good, and the fries were excellent. Definitely a fast food type burger, but not too greasy or salty. Everyone who I talked to was friendly, and the whole staff seemed like they were pretty cool and fun, which is nice to see. Also, very reasonably priced.
