First time at Velvet Taco and it won't be my last. Great service, fun location, and seriously the best tacos. Oh, and did I mention they have a curried queso that's to die for? And super yummy elote and chips? I had the Kobe smash burger taco and the Mexi-Cali shrimp taco. Definitely chose correctly!

Every dish you can think of in a taco. Variety of flavor and lots of it. Crazy expensive for tacos but worth every bite. Paloma ranch water to wash it down. Large fans outside to make for comfortable seating ambience.

The red velvet cake really was DELICIOUS. So moist and a great chocolate flavor. The tacos are also tasty and reasonably sized, a little bit bigger than a regular street taco. The queso is also super delicious, would highly recommend! The staff were also really friendly and patient which was awesome!

Reliably good location in the domain for some tasty tacos. Have returned many times and I always find the tacos are good. On my most recent visit, I got a couple of the salmon tacos. Excellent and light too. See photo.
Can be a bit loud with the music blaring.
Meanwhile, I like the outdoor patio area and it's a bonus imho that there's a place to wash your hands independent of the bathroom.

Great taco place in the domain Mall. Its usually crowded on weekends and this place is open late. Great vibe. You order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. They also have small selection of bear and cocktails. I got the the ranch water for drink which was good. For tacos I got the buffalo chicken taco, spicy chicken tikka masala taco, Nashville hot tofu taco. Loved the chicken tikka masala taco and the Nashville hot. Recommend trying these two. Services was quick. Place is maintained. The outdoor seating is great and usually full on weekends.

Trendy place to eat. Includes inside and outside seating. They offer a wide variety of customized tacos. The vegetarian mushroom was delicious as all the flavors meshed very well together. The steak was also good. It had a bit too much heat to not have been marked spicy on the menu, and the meat amount was minimal. The shrimp taco was my least favorite of the three (note: shrimp is normally my favorite meat). I added some guacamole dip to it, which made it more appetizing and seemed to round out the flavors better. The street corn and guacamole dip were both delicious. The swiril margarita was a regular frozen margarita with non frozen juice. The flavors together were very fruity and took the bite margaritas normally have away. Overall it was a nice place to eat and enjoy company.

The line moved so quickly and the food was beauuuuutiful! I got a fish taco, a shrimp taco and we also ordered chips and guac. The fish taco was just a little lacking in flavor, but the shrimp taco was AMAZING! Would definitely go back for more. There's not enough indoor seating in my opinion. The tables are communal but everyone who's in a group sits so spaced out that you can't really hop into a table. Overall it was pretty good!

Velvet Taco @ The Domain is a great place to get a delicious and unique taco. The spicy tikka chicken taco is my personal favorite, but there are plenty of other options to choose from. The service is always good, and the location is in a great spot in the Domain. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a tasty and satisfying meal.

Vegetarian review: I will start with a shout out to Amane the guy who took our order - so full of energy, style, presence and solid people skills! He has a knack for putting energy into you.
The food at Velvet Taco is superb! the Fresco Guacamole was SO tasty - the only change I would do is ask for more of the 'fresco' sauce to drive the flavor down as you dig deeper through the layers with you tortilla.
I'd say the paneer taco is 'okay' and doesn't really hit the spot for some reason - and maybe that's because it's battered and fried instead of being marinated and 'grilled'. They should have a 'paneer version' of the spicy tikka chicken.
The Nashville taco was my favorite - so flavorful and spicy as well. It was absolutely delicious!
Next time, I will try the red velvet cake - I only heard about it after we left the restaurant.

Weâve always had the vegetarian options. Nashville hot tofu is always our favorite, followed by paneer tikka tacos.
Only downside is that everytime we eat from here, we have a hard time digesting. Itâs like the tortilla may not be fresh.

Fast and correct service and wonderfully tasty food. We ordered online for pickup and it was ready right on time. The staff was friendly even in the chaos of lunch hour. The patio is nice and shaded. Parking in the area is free. The Red Garage is the closest. I would happily eat here again. The slow-roasted Angus taco was fantastic.

I loved this place! The vibe is super chill and relaxed. The tacos, omg the tacos are like nothing I have tried before. If you are looking for traditional this is not it. They take staple foods and transform them into tacos, example fish and chips, fried chicken and waffles, hamburger, I mean funky, fun choices. Their margaritas are very very good too. There can be a wait in line but it moves fast. Recommended!

Velvet taco was âokayâ at best. We waited in line for quite a bit, no one else was in line and only about three people were seated in the restaurant. We waited a good 20-25 minutes before the food was ready.
My husband had one taco that was fresh and pretty good(Cuban pig). The other three tacos were pretty cold. The falafel was tasty but super cold unfortunately. The cheese tastes a lot like melted velveta with no depth of flavor. Itâs super thick and lukewarm/cool.
The small amount of chips they give were kind of good, but overall not worth the $5 and they seem to just be out of a bag, not made fresh.
The lime on the bar was definitely dried out. I think the best part of the meal was definitely the chips with some hot sauce and my cold water. The best of my husbands meal was the Cuban pig. It had a lot of flavor and was pretty warm for the most part.
Unfortunately, for the meat on my tacos, we could really taste the plastic that theyâre stored in, as theyâre certainly not fresh.
Also, while sitting here, we observed a ton of customer complaints and issues which couldâve been controlled.
One lady prepping food kept using her cell phone yet never changed gloves, and we all know that 99.99% of people use their cell phone in the restroom ďż˝
Overall the food was okay, experience was okay, but definitely not some where weâd recommend or eat at again.

Some of the best, and most eclectic tacos I have ever had. The complex flavors were like that of no other taco joint in Austin. We were there when there was a decent crowd, with a pretty sizable line, and all of our tacos were absolutely perfect in every regard. Yes, the serving of chips was fairly small, but a simple and polite request, and a server brought us another serving without charge.

Ahhh the velvet taco... so I will be very honest. They do not explain their menu very well. When I walked in, I saw people carrying around these holders containing 2 or 3 tacos a piece. So when I placed my order and paid almost $9, I assumed I would be getting at least 2 tacos along with my sparkling water that I purchased. Imagine my disappointment when they called my name to go get my food and I walked up to one lonely little taco. At no place on the menu did it say $5.75 PER taco. There was no package deals listed on the menu so if itâs your first time there, youâre not gonna know that youâre about to pay for an entire meal but only get half of an appetizer. The part food that I ate tasted decent. Although I threw most of mine away because their âhouse cabbage shred mixâ or whatever it was called on the menu was full of onion (again, not disclosed on the menu). I hate onions. I just think their menu is bogus. I at my fish fillet which was good and threw the rest away and went home and made my own tacos. Needless to say, I wonât be going back unless they decide they want to knock down their prices or give you more bang for your buck. Taco Bell would have been just as good for way less money or way more food.

Got a food allergy or dietary restriction? I'd recommend avoiding this place. I alerted the cashier that I'm vegan/lactose intolerant and ordered a few tacos without dairy/meat. One of the tacos came out with ranch dressing on it. It was on the bottom and I noticed after the first bite and didn't swallow. Safe. The servers were very apologetic and offered to fix me another taco (buffalo tofu without dairy). I strongly suspect, that there was butter in the buffalo sauce. I am very ill and wouldn't be this way after a non-digested bite of ranch. However, two buffalo tofu tacos drenched in butter sauce, yeah that'd do it. How hard would it be to have a vegan option or two on the menu? Then they could avoid poisoning their customers.

Can I say that Mike is invited to the family picnics!!! This was hands down the BEST tacos I have ever eaten!!!!!!!! We did not have to wait long, and I had the #12, #13, #14! Just go there so that you can order these exact things!! Shrimp was cooked to perfection, so was the brisket, and the chicken!!!! We ran into Mike at a different restaurant, he was so down to earth and he was super passionate about his restaurant! We were counting down to the minute to go and see what it was all about. He took care of us and the kick a$$ margaritas are LIFE!! We will DEFINITELY come back again! I will drive all the way from Houston just to receive the amazing service Mike provided!

The atmosphere is nice. I Ike the way you order and sit feather than wait service.I asked the cashier what the most popular tacos were and my daughter ordered one and I ordered another of the 4. My daughter got the rotisserie chicken and I got the barbacoa brisket. We both thought ours were good but it excellent. The brisket one was a bit dry, both the meat and egg frittata. Both of them could have used more spices or a sauce. We also ordered chips and queso. Both were fair.

So this was my first culinary experience in the Domain. OMG the shrimp and grits taco was amazing. It was not what I expected. All the flavors melded really well with each other. I also had the Angus brisket taco which was very delicious. I'll definitely be trying the other tacos the sell.
