Fantastic older beer garden from 1863. Was hoping to get schnitzel but they didn't have any. The brat was good traditional with sauerkraut. Great atmosphere outside. Happy hour music. Friendly staff. I would highly recommend.
I was really excited to come here and get some German food at the oldest bar in Texas. Unfortunately the hours posted online were incorrect and we ended up arriving right at closing time. They were nice enough to let us order a couple giant Bavarian pretzels to go that were amazingly delicious. It s
Nice selection of German beers and close proximity to Royal Stadium. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Full service bar. The beer garden is nicely shaded with plenty of room. Serving lunch and dinner.
I had a great German themed lunch here. We got the sauerkraut balls and some bratwurst. The food was delicious and the beer list was pretty varied as well. The staff was friendly and there was plenty of seating. The beer garden is nice and shaded as well. There's only paid street parking though so p
If you take a good look at the map of restaurants in this area, you will notice that this one stands apart from the big group to the west. It stands bold and alone, as a hole-in-the-wall place off San-Jacinto. That's the first way to tell this place is good. The building is aesthetic, and stepping i
We went to this German specialty restaurant near the Capitol building, with family and had a great time. This was not busy at this time. Great German decorations thru out the place, and a very inviting outdoor patio, where I heard gets crowded with large tailgate parties. We had a huge pretzel for
We stopped in before a concert at the Moody Center. It takes a while to get seated (even when it's not busy). The drinks and food are good, but the service is lacking. It's pretty loud inside, just know what to expect before going in. The outside patio area has a nice vibe and there are mister fa
Absolutely must visit for German restaurant for German sausage and giant pretzel 🥨 great service and beautiful bar setting
The Kartoffelpuffer was great. Couldn't believe they had them and they were good with the apple sauce. Reminded me of my Popo! And his Kartoffelpuffer. Dogs loved the shaded area. Prices were good. Definitely we'll go again when in Austin.
Fantastic food! We've gone several times with different people, and everyone loved what they got. The giant pretzel is actually made there (not like those frozen, microwaved ones you get at ballparks), and the potato pancakes with homemade applesauce is a great combination. It's also a fun atmosphe
The oldest beer garden in America, and they're still relevant! Accidentally happened upon their Maifest. Festive and energetic, with German food specials that hit the spot. The full-liter steins are also a decent deal on high-quality local beer. Enjoyed it!
Amazing atmosphere, it was a terribly hot afternoon yet their patio was extremely pleasant. Their staff is the best, one of the waiters recommended us delicious beer, and definitely earned his tip. Tried some venison spicy sausages with red cabbage, Sauerkraut and dark mustard, great stuff. The pota
Stopped in one weekday afternoon to grab a bite, I was in the mood for a schnitzel. I sat at the bar and the bartender was nice and attentive. I ordered a coke but he misheard and brought me a beer, which was really tasty, so it worked out in the end. Ordered the Schnitzel Sammy and it came with fr
Jagerschnitzel was so delicious and tasted exactly like I remember in Germany!! The appetizers were fantastic. I will definitely be ordering again. If you are looking for authentic German food this is definitely a place for you!!!
Spot on, delicious, and well presented German food served in a great atmosphere by awesome people. If you are looking for a great lunch or dinner experience, you can't miss at Scholz.
LOVED this place!!! Great service, the employees were super nice to explain everything even picked a beer for my husband. Food was DELICIOUS! Warms my heart to have food from heritage. PET FRIENDLY ❤️❤️
I have loved this place for years. I have organized rallies and events that took place here. I've been to watch parties, meetings, and met up with people to just grab a bite to eat. This is a historical landmark in my heart plus the pretzels are incredible. All of their food is delicious so you cant
Went here for a tailgate before a UT game. Cool atmosphere but could live without the band. Food and drink were priced at what you'd expect and was above average.
