Review Eddie V's Prime Seafood - Austin

This establishment is top shelf! We arrived at our reservation time and great warmly and professionally. We were seated for our party with ample room among each table so the space dis not feel cramped. Our server greeted us promptly and provided phenomenal service throughout our meal. The food was beyond measure. Anything we can do to describe our meals would not do them justice. Our respective meals were plated well, presented well, and the taste was full of flavor. Bonus was the birthday surprise dessert for one of our party. This is the place to meet great friends, have a few laughs and catchup over a fantastic meal within a cozy, warm setting.

Amazing dinner by myself. Quality oysters. Had the chef oyster and that was pretty big one. Bread was okay but the butter was so flavorful. I then had the Parmesan Cod fish dish with half of the crab fried rice. Amazing combo. Breaded cod with amazing sauce. Fried rice with butter amazing for leftovers and reheat. I had this meal for breakfast 3 days after this

Outstanding service! The food was very delicious. I felt like a King. They were very attentive and courteous. Also, professional but genuine and humble at the same time. I really appreciates how they catered to my wife and I for our anniversary dinner. They placed rose pedals on the table and gave us complimentary champagne and dessert! My only regret was leaving the very thoughtful card they presented to us. I definitely recommend this restaurant. The ladies looking after our table were fantastic!

Honestly everything was wonderful. Our server Ava was flawless. Service was perfect, food was delicious, wine was amazing. We sat at the bar so we were seated immediately. They had decorations for the holidays, TV with the game on if you enjoy that, and comfortable seating. Highly recommend.

Each of the items we ordered were so delicious! The crab cake was full of big sized crab chunks, no filler. My husband ordered filet with lobster and I ordered the NY strip with scallops. Both dishes were very delicious. My daughter ordered the fried shrimp plate which she loved. Our server, Amber M., was so attentive and efficient, and never missed a beat. When we return, we will ask for Amber again.

This is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate special events in your life! Parking is convenient, service is incredible, and the menu has a great selection of seafood and steaks. Our meals were SO delicious! We look forward to going back! One note...it is pricey so review the menu online before you go.

Highly recommended! My hubby and I had a date night here and it was the perfect experience. The food was delicious and Amber (our waitress) was very attentive to our needs. My hubby had the 12oz Filet Mignon and I had the Chilean Seabass. We also ordered the Brussel Sprouts as the accompaniment and the Creme Brulee for dessert. Definitely worth the price. We will be coming back for sure! Treat your significant other to a delicious and romantic dinner here. It will not disappoint!

December 2023 ... Eddie V's consistently delivers a 5-star dining experience, even during happy hour in the bar! We enjoyed a recent happy hour at the Arboretum location. Great as always! 24 Karat and gin martinis were awesome. A large tray of fresh gulf oysters started the culinary adventure this time... cold, fresh and delicious! The mignonette sauce is mind-bending (and simple, vinegar, garlic, black pepper and a pinch of sugar). We had the beef sliders next, followed by the tempura lobster pops. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the lobster amazing! Our companion had the Caesar salad and stuffed shrimp, both were delicious. We ended with a crab cake, which is one of our favorite appetizers, and IMHO one of the best in ATX! Highly recommend Eddie V's for any occasion, even happy hour in the bar! August 2023 ... We recently stopped by Eddie V's Arboretum again for happy hour on a Friday evening. As always, everything was spectacular! Food, service, ambiance, all great! We had cocktails to start... Mark (the best bartender in ATX) made our favorites! The fresh Gulf oysters were awesome. We then split a BLT wedge salad, so deelish. Dessert was lobster tacos, sublime! Forgot to take pictures this time, sorry about that... :-) February 2023 ... Eddie V’s never disappoints for happy hour! The evening began with a couple of craft, cocktails, old favorites, which were fantastic! We followed that with a platter of fresh gulf oysters, complete with the usual accompaniments… the oysters were cold and delicious! For light entrées, we had the fresh seabass, and à la carte filet, and a side of wilted spinach… the fish was delicious, the fillet was expertly prepared, and even the spinach was terrific! We will definitely be back for happy hour in the future!

By far, one of my favorite seafood restaurants. It just never fails in delivering a delightful experience. This evening I did a crab cake, lobster bisque, lobster tail accompanied with crab fried rice.

Great place for a birthday or dinner date. This place has a variety of seafood and steak dishes. Fully stocked bar with specialty cocktails or the classics like an Old fashion, margaritas, and martinis and so much more. They started us off with hot, fresh bread with a herb seasoned butter. Just yummy!! We also had the lobster bisque soup for an appetizer. So creamy and actually had a big piece of lobster in it. They poured the soup in the bowl for us which was a nice presetation of the dish. For the main dish, I wanted the Branzino but they had just ran out. Our waitress suggested the halibut dish and it was superb! Fish was flaky and the sauce was on point! The garnish was a perfect fit and made the halibut even tastier! I also chose a side of broccolini. It was cooked perfectly. Not too hard, not too soggy or overcooked. My coworkers had the stuff shrimp and chilean sea bass. They were to die for as well!! They chose asparagus and the sweet and siracha brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were so yummy. I chose the lemon drop martini and it was just right! Now this place is pricey but well worth every bite and sip! I will definitely try the DFW area restaurants in the near future.

This was a birthday celebration for just the two of us and it came together at the last minute. The only problem was the cocktail. We each had pomegranate Moscow mules. The ginger beer was so sharp that we could taste nothing else. The manager brought carafes of lime juice, pomegranate juice and vodka so we could tweak the blend. The additional pomegranate juice did the trick. Our seafood entrees were wonderful as were the salads. The bananas Foster cake should be a meal in itself.

Service is what sets this place apart. No matter the occasion, you'll be treated as an honored guest.
Add to that the outstanding food, wine list, drinks and atmosphere an you'll see why this place is one of the best in the area.
Highly recommended.

This was our first time here and will probably be the last! We came in from San Antonio for a Valentine's Day weekend getaway and decided to start our 3 day weekend with a romantic dinner at a new place! We read reviews and decided on giving this place a shot. This was the worst decisions of our weekend plans! We arrived early for our reservation and waited patiently for our table. Once we got seated it took about an hour to get our food. I ordered the seafood trio and substituted the lobster tail for steak and when I got my steak it was well done(almost burnt) instead of medium. We had been waiting so long I just ate the other stuff and nibbled a bit on the steak. My boyfriend ordered the special "Tom Hawk" ribeye and had the same problem! By the time our main course came out we were so over dinner and weren't even wanting it anymore. The restaurant was very loud and crowded and we were not having the experience we wanted. We understand it was a busy weekend BUT knowing that it was expected to be busy there should have been better planning on the restaurant's part. We frequently look to dine at restaurants that are high end and know the difference between good service and bad service this was definitely a bad service experience. So disappointed and not a great way to start our "romantic" weekend!

Had a great experience, fun time, will definitely be back. May have found a new favorite!

To start, we arrived a little early for our reservation. Bar staff was incredibly quick, friendly, very professional, and attentive. My request of Beefeaters, stirred, strained, three olives was made right (often times they try to be too quick with it and shake). Side of soda water was refilled several times without asking, to much appreciation.

We were promptly sat at our table at our reservation time. The only downside at that point was that the dining area was really dark. Seems to be a trend, though, but looking around I saw many other diners using their cell phones to read the menu, plus the wait staff was using small flashlights to check plates, check the menu, etc.

Dining experience was nice and clean! Table of four was served at reasonable time frames.

First order: Tuna Tartare. Tasted fantastic, just large enough portion, mango and avocado the right ripeness. Only mark against it was that one out of a few of the crisps we had was stale. Not an evening ruiner, though.

Second order: Mussels. These were fantastic and the white wine broth was delicious. I just had to cheat with a piece of bread to soak up some of that goodness.

Third order: Wife and I split a crab and shrimp salad. I do not like crab much at all but this was surprisingly delicious. Would order again in a heart beat. Crab dressed with hearts of palm, tomato, and a bit of romaine. Boiled shrimp on the side. May could have used a few more walnuts but since it was split it is possible my wife got a few more than I did.

My order: Sauteed Red Fish. The New Orleans style roux/sauce it was served on top of was awesome, spiced well but not over powering. Crab on top was very buttery, fish was sauteed perfectly. Nice rich flavor, flaky, good crust skin side. No complaints at all.

Wifes order: Tuna with Papaya Salad. Tuna was good but slightly under seasoned. Papaya salad was very fresh and slightly spicy.

Will be going back asap!

This place is so nice. The superb food was made even better by our waiter RC "Like the cola". He was fun and attentive and made us feel so very welcome and at home. His vivid description of the menu made us want to try everything. We drove from Houston for a special event, and this first time visit to Eddie V's was a memorable part of that experience. We will certainly return and hopefully RC will be there to make it fun again.

Dinner was great. Atmosphere was classy. Great for business entertainment. Good quality and selection excellent.
However, the service was disrupted. We had 2 servers switching off back and forth. The more experienced one recited the specials to us. There were many and they were flexible with options to switch out 1 seafood for a beef choice etc. The other server took our order and her understanding of the specials was different even though I clarified my order to her verbally. End result was I was not served what I ordered. Two items were wrong and that was very disappointing. It was late and we were with a large group so I didn't want to send back and wait for replacement.
They need to stick to 1 server per table or have 2 work in tandem but the switching off did not work well.

Itqas pretty good. Service was nice. Having lived on both coasts, I've got a pretty high bar for seafood. This was good, not great. I didn't think the execution quite match the price. I'd go back a second time, but not a third if it wasn't better on next try

Great Happy Hour!. Excellent, professional and friendly bar staff. Happy hour menu has $5 wine and cocktails and a good variety of reduced price appetizers. Consistently good food and service. You can't go wrong with the crab cake or the salt and pepper shrimp.

Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly waitstaff. Really enjoyed our meal.

Classy yet comfy. We went there for my grandfather's 90th birthday party. Treated us very well. The whole meal was pretty good. I think the prices are a bit high for the portions, but the quality certainly makes up for it. Also, I thought the atmosphere was very good. It was classy, yet I never felt rushed in any way. While I wasn't the one paying(out of my budget), I would happily go back for another family outing. Worth it.

Excellent Service, great food. Our experiences at Eddie V's have been so positive, especially at the Arboretum location.

For my birthday, we had a reservation. We got there a little early to have a drink at the bar and just let them know we were a little early when we came in. At our reservation time, the hostess came up all apologies that our table wasn't ready yet. We didn't really care and told her no problem, we weren't in any rush. Literally, 5 minutes later our table was ready and we were seated. They apologized again for our "wait" and brought out a complimentary bottle of a decent red wine. From there they prioritized our order and made sure everything came quickly. We weren't even remotely bothered by waiting a couple of minutes, but they went above and beyond to make sure our dinner was wonderful. The wonderful service and wine alone was enough to make this a great experience but the food lived up to the service as well.

It's all about the Mac&Cheese! I could have their crispy cesar salad and perfect Mac&Cheese every week and be a very happy person! Those two items alone are worth the hour drive it takes us to get to their Austin location (by capital of Texas hwy). Their other dishes we've had are very good too - but too often people forget about the salad and sides which they have spot on!
SharonM
A favorite. Both in the bar and the Restaurant. Love the food, service, and ambience. Good wine list as well.

Two strikes and you're out..... Eddie V's appears to be going in the same direction as the other large chain expensive restaurants, like Ruth's Chris: inconsistent food quality, slow service, and lots of excuses. This is the second time in a row they have ruined their own signature baked Chilean Sea Bass recipe and the second time in a row they have managed to serve lukewarm food in seriously hot serving dishes. How is that possible? Go figure; but after two similar experiences, I will never go back. Their prices imply better quality and consistency, but they fail to deliver either

Good seafood; good steak. A bit Downey, but fresh ingredients, knowledgeable attentive servers, and not loud, or crowded at 6 pm. Happy hour specials in the bar.

Eddie V's Dallas. What a disappointment. This restaurant has the ambiance of eating in a high school auditorium and is just as loud. There is no dress code of significance and the lounge is rapidly becoming a roost for bar flies and pick-up artist. The steaks are supposedly prime but not in the same league as Labat's or Monforts of Colorado.

Whoowhat?. Ive been to both Eddie Vs and the one in Fort Worth and can say that this place has never disappointed. Steaks and fish dishes amazing each time I go. There is dover sole dish which is heaven on a plate - cooked perfectly. I do not understand how there are so many moderate to bad reviews. Keep on keepin on Eddie Vs!

Eddie V's is overrated. My wife and I have dined at both Eddie V's in Austin, TX, and I believe that the place is highly overrated.

The main dishes have been good, but VERY expensive. I made the mistake of ordering the special one time (Tomahawk Rib Eye) without inquiring about the price... BIG MISTAKE. I paid $50+ for a steak that was undercooked and sent back for more attention. It came back and was flavorful -- but not worth $50+.

The salads are average at best, and totally unremarkable. The side dishes do not come with the meal -- you must mix and match the sides, and they are totally unimaginative. I would prefer to see something imaginative, colorful, and flavorful.

I was sitting directly across from my wife at the downtown location, and could not hear a word she said due to the noise in the restaurant. This is NOT a good restaurant for a romantic dinner. The noise level at the Arboretum location was much better, but still pretty loud.

The service at the downtown location was pretty awesome last time we went there, but sketchy at the Arboretum this past week.

I get the impression that some Austinites and out-of-town visitors believe that Eddie V's is THE place to be SEEN to IMPRESS your DATE. For the price and experience, I would recommend that you skip Eddie V's, and instead try Truluck's.

Good Drinks!. Great Bar with great drinks!

Have been to Eddie V's many times. I try to get there anytime I am in Austin. Stopped for drinks and a snack the other evening. I find the food and service amazing. The lobster bisque soup and goat cheese salad were just what I needed. The people working in the bar were very attentive and the patrons were very friendly. One of favorite restaurants in the US!

Service was great! Our waiter was super nice, very knowledgable and made suggestions that were rightn on! The food was fantastic - Cesar salad, Parmesan crusted sole were perfect BUT the mac-n-cheese was comfort food perfected!
Anja
Great happy hour! Love the salt and pepper shrimp. Beautiful views, and great romantic spot!

Great Sunday and Monday special. Eddie V's is good, but it is expensive. They best deal here is to go on a Sunday or a Monday for a casual meal and sit in the bar area. You get half priced drinks and half off several of the appetizers. We always get a dozen oysters, the tuna tartar and maybe a salad or a bisque. It's plenty of food, the atmosphere is great and you don't need to drain your wallet for a fine dining experience.

Consistently Great. I love Eddie V's, despite the fact that it is a chain. We have never experienced poor service, and it is surprising to see so many reviews claiming such. We like to try new restaurants, and often do, but so many times we think, "We should've just gone to Eddie V's." Their steaks are the fantastic, only rivaled by Flemings and Cool Water. I love seafood, but usually order the filet, because it is just that good.
Shawn Bennett
Food was great but it was by far the worse service I have ever had. I will never eat here again.
Paul
Poor service.. I have had worse service at lesser restaurants but for the price of Eddie V's the experience was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We went for happy hour, told the waiter we were new to the restaurant, and then were completely ignored for the next 20 minutes despite me making eye contact with the waiter on two occasions. If this is how new customers are treated I'd hate to see how regulars are treated. Maybe they should invest in little Eddie V flags you can raise at the table so the wait staff knows you need something. This is the kind of treatment you'd expect at a greasy spoon not a place as pricey as Eddie V's. Other people have noted the slow service as well so it's not just us.
Dustin
Not as good as priced. Well, I had the Fillet on the bone with the Lobster Tail. Very good! I mean VERY GOOD! But....was it worth $90??? Ummm not really. I will just save my $90 and put it towards a fight to Boston to get lobster next time. Just a little over priced is an understatement.
BuddyBiscuit
The lamb is amazing and the swordfish was the best I ever had. Love this place.
Heather
Simply Amazing. You can order anything from their menu and not go wrong. Awesome service. Beautiful restaurant.

Tip: you must order the hot cheese and mushroom salad. The best salad I have ever tasted in my life.

Cheers!
BW
Not bad, but I've had better in Austin. I've been to Eddie V's a few times, and just don't see why some people rave about it. The steaks have been pretty good, but can't hold a candle to Cool River's. The seafood at McCormick and Shmick's and Truluck's are also a notch above. The ambience is nice, and the service is always good, but the food gets a "B" in my book.
Amber Futch
Strange bed fellow. The most amazing thing on this menu, in my opinion, is the Truffled Macaroni and Cheese "Gratinata". I am not a person who usually orders mac and cheese at a restaurant but OMG. You have got to try this!
