Our waiter Brian was absolutely amazing. My family and I came in and he was extremely friendly and very happy to serve us. I asked for a big cup of water and he did not disappoint. The food was great good prices nice atmosphere a good view of the water. We will definitely be coming back.

Delicious, fast, and friendly! The view is really nice as is the coastal breeze. The margaritas are very tasty and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the beef nachos with queso.

I stopped at El Zarape with my dad and we had a great time at the bar. They had reasonable drink prices. Food was excellent - fajitas and enchiladas. Lots of meat and very filling. We will return again next time we're in Atlantic Beach.

Álvaro was our server and was sooo sweet and speedy despite the restaurant being PACKED (it was 4th of July holiday weekend). The food was delicious, as before! 😍 we were excited to get the piña coladas, margaritas, and the fajita quesadillla special. this is an Atlantic Beach gem!! Wow, overall a GREAT experience. We were promptly greeted, sat and served. Everything was good Mexican food. Service was attentive. The Hawaiian fajitas were RIDICULOUS!!!!!! I'll be back for that and the monster 1800 margaritas!!!!

Went there for dinner with the family on vacation. Reasonable prices, courteous and attentive staff and most of all delicious food. No complaints whatsoever. The place looked pretty cool too.

We ended up coming back a couple days later because it was so good. Yes there are seating restrictions for large parties due to COVID-19. For our party of 7 it was fine we were seated in a booth and a table not too far away. The food is so delicious. It reminds me of the Mexican food I could get everywhere back in California that I have had a hard time finding here in NC.

El Zarape is conveniently located on the Atlantic Beach Causeway with a diverse menu and excellent and efficient service...The staff is friendly, the prices are VERY reasonable and locals agree their Margarita's are the BEST on the beach!! Ole!!

The menu selection was great, but the entrees were not well seasoned and blended. For instance, the crab quesadillas I got were good, but they just added a bunch of unseasoned crabmeat to the tortilla...it was also overpriced. My son ordered a chorizo quesadilla off the app menu which was good but had almost no cheese, he asked to add rice and beans (which were not very good) and they charged $7 queso+$3 rice+$3 beans, he's 10. I feel like they could have combined that into a meal for less than $13, which is what each of our other meals cost..

Excellent!! Ate here on a Sunday evening. Seated immediately and served chips and salsa instantly. My family of 4 agree these are the best chips we've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. They were very fresh (served warm),light, and crispy. Our waiter seemed new, but was diligent about making sure we were satisfied throughout the meal. The menu is extensive with many, many options and combos. The food was very good! We will be back!!!

Amazing food! Went on vacation for 5 days and had their food 3 of them. Reasonably priced, good portions, friendly staff. They're popular with locals & tourist so some nights can be packed but it's worth the crowds

Are you smoking crack?. The service here is terrible. It was a rainy day, and they had three servers working and none of them were managers. People were getting up left and right after not receiving quality service. I simply explained to my server that I would not pay the full bill total because of the atrocious service. He got mad and told me there was no manager to fix the bill, slammed it on the counter, and told me not to pay at all. I kindly obliged. I will never return.

Don't believe the previous reviews. Great place, great food. They got slammed when we arrived, little slow to start but picked it up nicely. Great service, lots of fun and great good. Like the house margherita!

They said it would be 15 minutes and it took 30 minutes just to seat a party of two and when we got in there were at least three tables open where no one was seated. It took about 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come give us a menu until we finally left! Never going back! This is the second time going. The first time, we were the only party in the restaurant and we never got our drinks refilled. It took almost two hours to get out of that place.

Good is good and worth coming back for but don't expect very good service. It was slow and they were slower, we never got refills and had to wait 15 minutes before a server came to take or order. Most of the staff were to busy watching soccer or walking around to care about the customers.

Took the gamble after reading the "El Crapape" review, but unfortunately we found out that it was spot-on. The service was incredibly slow and the food was mediocre. The only good part was that we were able to finish the Worlds Strongest Man competition on ESPN.

We call this place "el carappy". Worst service ever. Waitress was terrible, and she smelled heavily of gross perfume. Don't go if you want to be served in a timely matter. Pretty sure they went to Mexico to get our food...

Good food, great service. I enjoyed the Gaudalajara Special - steak (skirt steak maybe) was thin, well done, juicy and tasty. Came with chicken flautas, an enchilada, rice and guacamole. Not fancy but decent Mexican food.
