This place is a gem. The food is wonderful. In addition to the fried chicken, the fried shrimp and fish are excellent. The small plates and sides offer something for everyone, and the salads and vegetable dishes are great if you're looking for a light dinner. The service is friendly and casual. The place is kid friendly early in the evening (with a rocking kid's menu), but still has a warm pub atmosphere. It's one of my go to places for Friday night dinner with the family.

UPDATE: 3rd times a charm! Visited again last night and the service has improved greatly. We were seated quickly, given waters and menus right away and the food was great. Big improvement from the previous times I have visited. Nice!
I want to like this place so much but the service level just isn’t there! I’ve tried it twice to give it a chance. We ate there the other night. When we were seated, we got our water and were told our server would be with us in a few minutes. Well about 15 minutes passed and finally someone asked if we had ordered yet, when we said no, she said “are the menus the problem?” Yeah we kinda need menus to order..
We ordered some apps which took a good 30 minutes to come out. A lot of the wait staff were on their phones and when the food came out you could see they were confused as to what table it went to. The food was really tasty. However, if I’m going to spend $100 for two people to eat, I definitely expect better service. It seems they just have some organization issues to work out.

Stopped in for Happy Hour $1 oysters. They were great as usual. The only negative from our visit was feeling the "hard sell" to stay and order dinner. My issue is not with their food quality but with how expensive the regular dishes are. That's why we don't stay for dinner.

Had a great experience dining at Mary Hoopa's, the decor is modern and the layout open and spacious. Oysters were fresh and delicious, with many choices. Had 2 whole fried chickens, one house and one hot. Hot was spicy but not dripping, very tasty with a nice kick. House was crunchy and juicy, perfect southern style. Would recommend.

This place had a great atmosphere--laid back with contemporary, rustic decor. Our server gave us great service; everyone was very friendly and personable. The food was exceptional! The fried chicken was tender and juicy, with crispy breading. We tried the sweet and spicy flavors and really enjoyed them. Even the sides were delicious, with unique flavor combos...and you have to try their cornbread. I'm typically not a fan, but theirs is sweet and not dry--the fixings it comes with are tasty, too. I will definitely visit again, and I highly recommend!

I had one Clam Wrap, a fried Chicken Sandwich, and Cornbread! Oh me oh my to the infinite OooooWeees! Everything exceeded the expectations of my taste buds! The chicken sandwich was something beyond succulent. The flavor and the juices just sent my eyes rolling up in my head. Never tasted Cornbread like that. The jam and butter compliments it so perfectly. I could go on and on but gonna save it for when I return for Brunch on Sunday. Yes it's a higher price point but I definitely don't mind paying because I absolutely got the quality for my dollar!

So very confused as to how this restaurant does not have 5 stars? I had great service which seems to be the main complaint? I had the happy hour oysters 1 dollar each mon-sat??? And happy hour beer. The hot fried chicken rivaled Richards which is the best in Atlanta. The collards and corn bread were excellent. Parking can be an issue.

Simple menu of oysters, fried chicken and some interesting takes on southern side dishes served in industrial-modern decor. We ordered a half chicken with two sides and it was plenty of food. Get your chicken HOT, but be prepared to get messy. If that's not your thing try the chicken sandwich, which you can also order hot. I'd also recommend the creamed corn, but side dishes are pricey here. Overall, great addition to the neighborhood.

Went with a large group and it was a bit hectic. Food was delish. Very few complaints. Most felt that the grilled oysters needs more time cooking. The fried chicken and the polenta side was EXCELLENT! The green beans garnered rave reviews as did the fried oysters. Out of 40 people only one thing was sent back and that was the rice grits and shrimp dish. Would definitely go back again.

This restaurant has a great, comfortable environment to eat and have a good cocktail here. This service was top notch and the fried chicken was totally worth it. Definitely a restaurant to check out in Atlanta.
