I read all the bad reviews and I take it that the "Americans" don't understand how difficult it is for this old man to navigate his world. It's a very busy store. He's probably been robbed more than once. He's trying to check people out and make sure everything is okay and he's old and grumpy like many old people are.
Not very customer service oriented but he has a really good variety of Greek foods. He has the best price of feta cheese and he carries olive oil from Crete which is really good olive oil. I am Greek and having been to Greece and gone in small stores, his misdemeanor is not much different. I think many Greek store owners are rude, especially in Greece.
Perhaps if he was approached with a little kindness.
When I go in there I try to smile and ask him how he is. He doesn't know me. I've been there three, four times and I'm going again soon but he doesn't know me. Hundreds of people go through there.
I personally make it my business to be extra kind because you don't know what the other person is going through in their life. It's easy to say that he's rude but it's harder to go out of your way and be kind.
Any number of these people who gave him a one-star review, if they were just kind and went out of their way to do so, he would show some kindness as well.
And I'm sure he doesn't bake most of the things that are in his store. Most of these stores purchase from Greek vendor/bakers. So when he gives you a blank stare because you ask him what's in the cake, he doesn't know what's in the cake, probably. Perhaps he should know, but he doesn't know everything. He does not make all those baked goods.
When stores buy wholesale to resell, most of those goods come from a bake shop in Florida TARPON SPRINGS. That's where the best Greek pastry shop is and probably where his goods come from.
I think he's just lost in this world and he's doing the best he can.
I'm looking forward to shopping there again soon!!! Wish I lived closer, I would go more often. I pass through several times a year.
Remember, it's harder to be kind and easy to judge. And we're all going to get old like that too.
Walking into this place was like walking into a wonderland of deliciousness lol I felt like a little kid, that's how big my eyes got š My coworker shared her spanakopita with me (a phyllo pastry stuffed with spinach and feta cheese) and it was AMAZING so I had to check the place out myself. The choices are innumerable, both savory and sweet. I'll have to make a few trips back to try more of what caught my eye. Today, I tried the spanakopita (also known as "spinach pie" according to the sign on the wall), mushroom pie (a stuffed phyllo pastry also), a cream horn, some mini cream puffs, and a tart. š³ My kids are gonna go nuts when I take them here. Highly recommend!!!
They make the cakes real tasty.
I hadn't been in many years but I'm so happy the bakery is still around. It has to be at least 20yrs. The service is family friendly and the desserts are wonderful. My favorites are still there! Can never decide so I get all of them!
Best bakery ever!! We come here from Lilburn for every special occasion.
The only place around with Greek food and pastries as good as what is served at the Greek Festival. Also, the prices have remained reasonable over the years while most places have skyrocketed.
Iāve been going to International Bakery for years and Iāve never been disappointed with anything Iāve bought there. I see reviews about the customer service being rude or āracistā which is not true. Heās always been quiet and to the point but never rude. If youāre looking for a friend perhaps you should shop elsewhere but if youāre looking for amazing pastries and cakes this is the place.
Wonderful place. This is what everyone familiar with big city small bakeries is like. To those shaming the place because theyāre racist and unfriendly, news flash itās not you. I went in there speaking Greek and they were grumpy to me. This place does well and will do well because of the things you CANNOT get at Publix.
My family has been going here for over 30 years. They treat you like family. You leave having a smile on your face and my goodness the treats, imported cheeses and all are incredible. BEST BAKERY IN ATL!
Closest thing youāll get to Greece
The napolitano cake is delicious. They have a variety of deserts.
One of the best cakes I ever ate. They custom made my cake to be eggless. It is creamy outside and wafery inside. Highly recommended. And very cheap too
Cute little bakery - really yummy baklava And super nice cakes!! The one in the picture was $27 and is a very light whipped icing with fresh fruit.
This bakery with it's quality and availability of not only beautiful desserts but incredibly tasty and fresh is the best in the city! Everyone who has tasted their items have fallen in love with the flavor. These are not your everyday dessert items - they are easily for special occasions. The Best!!
Been there today, after 4-5 years. Nowadays it's out of my way.
Still the best chese and spinach pies i ever had!!!
Looooove this place! They have something for everyone. My favorite bakery.
The International Bakery, here in Atlanta is a true 5 Star experience. The old world dedication to excellence is remarkable. The vast assortment of eloquently presented baked creations has gained them the National reputation they so richly deserve. Your visit will be memorable, we have been going to The International Bakery for decades. I'm so glad we had this time together, Enjoy!
The bakery is amazing super affordable very original the owners are Greek I see reviews of them being cranky but honestly idc their desserts make up for it I live across the street and I go often enough he is growing to like me he is a man of short words who knows the life they lived ,but they are elder and still working for their money so idc I will support šand Americans are very entitled and sensitive so Iām not suprise ppl get offended if he doesnāt want to carry conversation but overall this bakery is amazing šš§”
