Hello, this is Diva from Chicago, finally I found a real Authentic Chicago Italian Beef and Chicago Hot Dog, the name 100% Represents Chicago.
People from up North, I have had so many conversations about, real Authentic Chicago food, how we cannot get a good Italian beef in Georgia.
Finally I found Mike's Chicago Hot Dogs, the owner buys all of his food from Chicago, this is the real deal guys!!!!!!
The best Italian Beef in Georgia, I promise you!!!! The owner buys the beef, relish, peppers, buns, Italian beef juice, the pizza puffs, I could go on and on, all bought from Chicago. Inside Mike's you will feel like you are in Chicago, it's decorated with a Chicago theme, and it feels like you are at home.
I promise you that Mike's Chicago Hotdogs is the best in the State of Georgia. I drive an hour and 30 minutes to get an Italian Beef, and Chicago Hotdog, so you know it must be that good, because WHO, in their right mind would drive that far to get an Italian Beef, and Chicago Hotdog!! I PROMISE IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE.!
I have tried everything, you will think you're in Chicago, the food is EXCELLENT! The staff is very nice, and always make sure that your food is exactly how you want it and it's always fresh and hot. I am very PICKY when it comes to my food , I will not except nothing but the best in life! Go and try it for your self, I promise you will love it!!!!! WOW, Writing this review has made me crave an Italian Beef and Chicago Hotdog, I will be making that drive tomorrow, I can't wait!!
I try to go as much as I can, and it's still not enough!!!!!!!!?
If you can't do something as simple as a hot dog, you don't need to be in business. Luckily, Mike's Chicago Hot Dogs can. They have a nice variety though they're a little pricey in my opinion. Nonetheless, the buns are soft and the dogs are good.
They have a vegan hotdog, and for that they get points for at least trying. Unfortunately it's not a great example of what a vegan hot dog can be, but at least there are a number of topping options to choose from. These days you can find many tasty vegan hotdogs from grocery stores like whole foods, but I'm still waiting for actual restaurants to catch up.
First let me explain that I'm no hot dog expert. I do like a good hot dog or sausage, but only if they have an intensity of flavor and not the flavor of baloney (if fact between my friends we tend to call the cheaper dogs "baloney dogs"). And even though I've spent some time in Chicago, I haven't sampled the renown "Chicago dog" in its native habitat nor do I know why Vienna Beef is any better than what's available from other manufacturers. All that being said, I think I do know good flavor combinations when I encounter them and that's what you can get at Mike's Hot Dogs.
To date I've eaten here a handful of times and I've narrowed my selection down to either the spicy Polish, Market Street style or the Italian Beef Sandwich all the way (but not wet). I've been told that the spicy Polish isn't available throughout the year but I've yet to experience a time when it hasn't been available to me. Market Street style includes grill onions with a bit of mustard, some peppers and a pickle spear, all on a fresh baked poppy seed roll. It seems the Chicago dog is distinguished by the poppy-seed bun and being "drug through the garden" - all the veggies and pickles adding to the flavor. In one word, delicious!
The Italian Beef sandwich is as close to a culinary and gastrointestinal work of art as you can get in a handheld sandwich. Thinly shaved Vienna beef dredged through au jus right into a slightly rubbery roll (a lighter roll would fall apart) with melted cheese. This is served "hot" (a side of giardiniera - basically a pickled pepper and veggie concoction similar that provides spiciness, vinegar and crunch as a foil to the fats). Mike's makes a huge sandwich that's savory, flavorful and oh-so-good. You also get a side of au jus that you dip the whole sandwich into, sort of like a French dip - or you can order the sandwich "wet" - the whole thing is dropped into the broth, but expect to eat it with fork and knife.
Service is always good but careful during lunch - the line can get quite long and they make things to order. If you're from Chicago, this place may not meet your expectations - I'm really not qualified to tell since I can't compare it to the real thing - however if you like meat, a good sandwich and intense flavors, then give this place a try.
Good Food & Value. Visited Mike's Chicago Hot Dogs for the second time today. Very good quick meal and prices. I read since my first visit that they were featured in Food & Wine Magazine as one of America's Top Hotdogs. Pretty Cool.
This place is great. The people are fun and they know about Chicago food. Everything is so good. Try it and you will like it.
This hot dog joint is the real thing and I'm not just saying this because I happen to know the owners, haha. I was born and raised in Chicago and I know a real Chicago style dog when I eat one. They have it down to the last detail of the poppy seed bun and the celery salt on top! I also enjoyed the Italian Beef and the pizza puff. The decor is also on point and makes me feel at home. I will be back! I wish them the best, their hard work has paid off.
A Decent Dog. I stopped in for lunch today with some coworkers. The service is quick and friendly. They have a lot of Chicago-based pictures up on the wall and they play some great blues music.
I had the Chili Slaw Dog which was pretty good, but not great. The slaw was a little too sweet for me and didn't have enough crunch. The prices are right, though, which makes it a great place to grab a quick lunch.
Amazing!!! Staff is great. Best tamale I've ever had. Hog dogs are jammin.
Good Stuff. When I walked into Mike's today I was a bit put off by the carnival like decor and thought I was destined for an average experience. As usual I could not have been more wrong.
As a dog enthusiast I like to keep things simple: a dog, bun, and mustard. In line with the Chicago style I have always found ketchup anathema, but I had never experimented with any condiments such as pickle or a serrano pepper on my dog.
The Chicago dog here has cucumber, serrano pepper, tomato, white onion, celery salt, a dill pickle, relish, mustard, and celery salt. The bread was exceedingly soft, but yet ample and the beef frankfurter was perfectly cooked. The condiments blended so well together and I realized what I had been missing out on all of the years with my spartan dog eating ways. Superb!!
I absolutely enjoyed the food here! I had the Chicago Hot Dog & a Chilli Dog. They were both amazing. The staff provided great customer service as well. I’ll definitely be back. Try the onion rings if you get a chance! They taste great!
So impressed! Staff was friendly. Food was delicious, with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The fries were AMAZING. They use fresh oil and it shows. A must have when you’re in the area. Will be back!
Skip the sides and just get the dog you want! Just saying polish sausage was delicious 😋. Cool little spot worth checking out
I have traveled so many miles, searching high and low. I have chanced so many different restaurants, sampling their offerings. But like a thirsting man in the desert, there was no water. Only mirages. Until now...I have found it. My new home for acquisition of the ideal dog...but not just ANY dog. The correctly made, non-soggy, delicious CHICAGO DOG. And where can this delicious specimen of meat on a sesame bun with sport peppers, yellow mustard, sweet relish, white onions, tomato wedges, celery salt, and pickle be found you ask? At a small place that you MUST GO TO! MIKE, you are a genius! Thank you for your excellent execution! AT LAST, I can enjoy my dog the way I want!! Also, my family loved the chili dog and cheese dogs. Fries and onion rings were great as well.
Make sure you purchase your sport peppers and relish for home!
I been here couple of times and would highly recommended Mike Hot Dogs, it’s a nice cozy place with amazing food. The Polish and the Italian beef were amazing and are a must try if you haven’t already.
This place was absolutely amazing! Lots of options for your dogs. Great sides. Decent prices. Combos to choose from too!
Make sure to take some time to soak in the ambiance. Tons of funny pics and posters add to the comfortable spot. Go early to beat the lunch crowd, as there is limited seating. They do have some tables outside.
I had the chicago style hot dog and it was a banger. I highly recommend it! All food was fresh and cooked to order. Staff was friendly, helpful, and the tables were clean. Positive atmosphere with good music and great hotdogs!
