We have never been her before and thought we would try it out. We were seated immediately with no wait. Our waiter came over within 2 mins of waiting, Jonas was very friendly and intuitive about their dishes. We tried the Bacon wrapped Camarones they were Delicious. Our drinks were Grapefruit Margarita and The Grand Swirl they were mixed just perfectly. We are planning to visit again this weekend.

No complaints, great food, very tasty not a long wait. Chips and salsa were amazing! Nice views from the outside patio. Virgin pina colada was awesome!

I absolutely enjoyed my visit! We were celebrating my friend's birthday and the service from Tyrell was top-notch. I had the griiled fish tacos and the Grand Swirl. It was rather creative how the bartender created the shot out of a lime slice. A must go!!

I had the spicy shrimp fajita's with the made from scratch tortillas. Absolutely delicious. I also had the Fresh margarita of the day which was also pretty good. The service was really polite and the atmosphere was amazing. I would love to go back.

I liked this place and I'm not big on Mexican food. This was a cute atmosphere and the fresh chips and spicy salsa was good. I love the shrimp wrapped in bacon, with the Mexican butter, yummy. The salmon was nice and tender, not over cooked with great pineapple salsa. The birthday chocolate ball is the bomb and the fresh fruit is to die for.

Lawd, how do you make tacos any better........... They say the secret is in the sauce, well that garlic butter was so good I almost asked for a cup of it to go. The food was exceptional and the service matched perfectly. Craving these tacos right now............. #besttacosever
BIG LUSCIOUSNESS
first time here. waiter suggested the table side guacamole it was amazing πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€— i had the chicken and steak fajitas they were very good portion size wasnt a problem everything was very fresh. will definitely be back to this location.(OUR WAITER WAS SO PROFESSIONAL REALLY ENJOYED HIM I FORGOT HIS NAME BUT HIS HAIR WAS DYED AT THE ENDS)

The chocolate pinata was amazing, but the food was mediocre. The cheese was cold and they put too much in my tacos. My gf ordered a quesadilla, but it was just another overload of cheese. Service was great and loved the atmosphere. Just thought the food could've been a little better.

Well I love tacos and this restaurant has $2.00 taco Tuesday so I took my mother and daughter tonight for dinner. It started out rough because upon our arrival we weren't greeted by anyone and stood there looking around for several minutes while staff members simply walked around without acknowledging our presence. I had to walk over to a group of servers and request to speak to a member of management. When the manager came I told her we were never greeted and she said that they were having a meeting and she apologized then promptly sat us. Our server, Hector, came out quickly and took care of us. He was handsome, kind and personable. I think the staff should be taught to work together to ensure guest satisfaction from beginning to end but the food was amazing!

This is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone! The prices are definitely worth the portions provided. I would absolutely recommend the guacamole bar! It was delightful. I had never had guacamole before and the moment I tried Uncle Julio's it absolutely changed my life.

Food was great, large portions. The kids loved it. The atmosphere was nice & friendly. Parking is in the back of the restaurant and it's on a very busy street.

The Grand Swirl drink is the bees knees!!!! The food was good too. It was hot and came very quickly. The staff was very nice.

The food was good, the service was excellent but the place didn't feel clean and just appeared a little ran down. If you eat there try their guacamole and queso combo.

It has been several years since I last dined at Uncle Julio's and I don't think I will be back. We had a group of 10 and our server did a great job of accurately splitting the checks. The service was a bit slow and somewhat inattentive and Julio's was not very busy. On the positive side, the Gold Margaritas are delicious but over priced. The food is over priced too and lacks quality. The chips are light and crispy and served with an excellent smokey salsa but that is where the goodness ends. I orders the fish tacos and they lacked seasoning, the tilapia was almost burned, and the avocado crema was non existent. I am always disappointed when dining out and I order food that I can make much better and home. This was the case with the fish tacos. Bland, uninspiring, and way overpriced. The beans and cilantro rice were not bad, but again, uninspiring. Another member of the party ordered a chicken enchilada that was simply a flour tortilla filled with pulled chicken and covered in a white cheese sauce. Not very creative for a restaurant that claims to make to Mexican food from scratch. There are better Mexican options in Atlanta so I doubt that I will return to Uncle Julio's.

This was one of my favorites when my office was in the 1776 building up the street. We would often make Casa Grande our destination for their great margaritas and food. It's a bit more expensive than other Tex-Mex restaurants, but the service makes up for it. Try the cajeta - we called them "softballs" as a delicious dessert for the table to share.

Better than I remember. It has been a number of years since I last visited Uncle Julio's, my previous experiences included lackluster service and just ok food. A friend and I had lunch here today and I now have a much different opinion. We were seated promptly, place was very busy as it was about 12:15. Drink orders taken quickly, chips and salsa on the table in no time. Our waitress was great, orders were taken and filled correctly and our food was on the table in minutes. Lunch menu items were priced right and the food was much better than I remember, chips are very light and crispy. Taco's and enchiladas were good, friend had the lunch chicken fajita's and she said they were great. I will be coming back here more often, good service, nice atmosphere, good food and priced right. Whats not to like!

Go for the patio, and the view of peachtree street. Otherwise, if you are seeking authentic Mexican food that is well made, you should go elsewhere.

This has to be the only place in the world that has the traditional deviled shrimp a.k.a. Camarones a la Diabla with absolutely no kick/spice/sauce very misleading. Overall manager argued with us the whole time and ruined the whole visit in general, never would I recommend nor return.

Really enjoyed this spot it's so big I enjoyed the terrace and the service and the food is good

Disappointing. We went here for brunch, and I was very unimpressed. The service was subpar, and the food was terribly overpriced. $12 for a chicken quesadilla? No thanks. We sat outside in a table in the direct sun, and they begrudgingly sat us at a table in the shade, after protesting that it wasn't someone'es section. And, someone in the party had a declined credit card, and 3 separate people m(including a manager) came to not-so-discreetly announce this to the table. Though they offered a dessert when brought to another manager's attention. Overall, this is not a place between the service, the sub-par quality for the overpriced food, and the atmosphere that I would frequent or even repeat.

TexMex in Brookwood. I have always enjoyed eating at Uncle Julio's, so I'm a little surprised at the negative reviews I see here. The food is very good (more Tex than Mex), the portions are huge, service is attentive and the vibe is good (even when the place is heaving full of people, which isn't uncommon). They make their own flour tortillas in-house - very tasty. Your bill won't be cheap, but you won't leave here hungry.

Yum. I dont care what anyone says about being over priced. My wife, friends, and I ate here today. The Plato Gordo feeds 5-6 people, and gives a great selection of mesquite grilled meats. I love the salsa and homemade tortillas. Gotta have a swirl!
Phil
Overpriced and amazingly average texmex. The brisket tacos had little flavor. Paying $6 for cheese dip (that isn't very good) makes me ill. Overall, you're better served going elsewhere for texmex.

Best chicken fajitas I have ever had. This is my favorite Mexican joint. It's a little pricey but I think it's well worth it. Any Mexican place that has homemade tortillas is already miles ahead of the rest but there's are transcendent.

Great service, food was a nine out of ten. Definitely recommend!

As a Native of North Texas, this location disappointed on so many levels... The salsa was awful. The chips good. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were ok, the beans, rice and fixin's were below average. I have had OTB in Atlanta, and the food had more flavor and was more of the Tex-Mex I grew up on. I might try again another day...

Best Chain Mexican. Grew up in Dallas on Uncle Julio's- and it's just as good in ATL. My vote for best chain mexican!

1. Best Salsa
2. Best Charros Beans
3. Best Chicken Tacos
4. Best Guac

Was and still is bad.... Tried this place 5 years ago, thought it was horrible. Had several people tell me how great it was the past couple of weeks, so I decided to give them another shot. Both my margarita and my Dad's were horrible. I had the sangria swirl and he had the standard kind. I drank it so I didn't waste $8, but it was not that great, and he had to send his back twice and finally just ordered a beer. Both times, his drink tasted like it had soap in the glass. He said the Chicken Enchiladas were the worst he had ever had, and while my Steak Tampiquena wasn't terrible, it wasn't all that special either. They weren't that busy, and our service was mediocre. Salsa was a lukewarm dreck. I apologized to my Dad for taking him to such a bad experience. Two entrees, a margarita and a beer was $42 before tip! Will not return, and will probably fire the people who suggested it to me.

Terrible service and slow - not "fine". Our overweight waitress was slow to get our food out. the food tastes average. you're better off going somewhere else instead of paying 12 dollars for 2 tacos.

Literally the best service I've ever had, everyone was so incredibly nice and helpful. My roommate and I split a meal and we were totally full and the food was great. Fabulous drinks, wonderful menu. Go there, you will not be disappointed!

Love Casa Grande!. This is one of my favourite places to eat when in Atlanta. No matter what you try it will be good. Some of my faves include the beef fajita quesadillas, enchiladas and grilled meat nachos.
The restaurant is very large and a lively place and even better in summer when you can eat outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

Get the Meltdown Margarita.

Great. I love Uncle Julio's Casa Grande!! I always get the cheese and onion enchilada, chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce and a taco. I love the cajeta for dessert it is so good!!! I visited again Thursday July 23, 2010 and the service was great!! I will be in again next week for lunch. My neighbor and I went to No Mas Cantina and had a horrible experience. We need a mexican food fix now.

Mediocre Mexican Fusion. Ingredients are nice and fresh, but dishes are not executed as well as they should be for the prices charged.

Guacamole was lovely, fresh, and creamy.

Though it was enjoyable overall, I would not come back unless prices are lowered or seasoning and techniques are perfected.

Nothing "Fine" About It. The only good thing about Uncle Julio's is the location. Their food is awful and the service mediocre, at best. A friend and I each ordered something different so we could try a variety of food and neither of us were pleased. The salsa was bad, cheese dip was bad, guacamole was bad, chicken didn't have any flavor. Definitely would not suggest a visit to Uncle Julio's.

Fun atmosphere. Fast service. Very good food. Large patio. Good for kids.

Chain Mexican--Delicious!. I usually try to avoid chains for a number of reasons but I tried UJCG before I knew it was one. The decor is definitely Mexican hacienda-oriented and something of that scale and complexity is rare in a stand-alone outfit. So I should have known. But Texas-based chains (Taco Cabana, Bill Miller's, Jason's Deli, etc) have a special place in my heart since I once lived there. Nevertheless, the decor is great, the atmosphere is fun, the food is fresh, flavorful and awesome.

That said, in years past I usually always got the fajitas. I don't know why but every time I came they called my name. The steak was always, always tender and succulent. Perhaps I kept ordering it to see if I'd ever get tough or underseasoned steak--never! The fixin's (as I like to call a lot of things) are plentiful and fresh. The guac is chunky and tastes just how you'd like it to. The jalapenos are delectably fire-roasted to perfect sweetness and hotness. By the way, the chips and dip are really, really good. Fresh, detectable chunks of ingredients make this a uniquely delicious pairing to the crisp, salted, thin chips.

Next time however, I promise to branch out and perhaps try another traditional Mexican dish or perhaps the quail, frog legs or another exotic offering of theirs.

I'm still on the hunt for a Mexican restaurant that slathers on the creamy beans and puckered-red rice like I'm used to seeing, tho their beans and rice were delicious.

Solid Tex Mex in Buckhead. I had lunch today here with my favorite gossip girl, Melissa L., and I have to say, it was Β‘muy bien!

I have a tendancy to prefer smaller dining rooms, so the size of the place is a bit overwhelming. But, once I was seated at a cozy booth in the corner, that subsided.

We started with what were probably the best chips I've ever had. They are SO light, they practically float out of the basket. Unfortunately, I believe this would lead me to eat more of them, but, dang, they were good! The salsa was quite tasty, too - very peppery (as in black pepper, not vegetable peppers), which I like.

I was kind of jonesing for a taco salad so I was bummed they didn't have one on the menu (really? no taco salad?), so I opted for the cheese and onion enchiladas. Boy, when they say cheese, they mean C-H-E-E-S-E! There was a lot of it (not that I'm complaining) which caused me a couple of embarrassing moments having to sever the melty cheese from my mouth as it was still connected to the food on the plate - you know what I mean. Again, a good problem to have.

Melissa L. recommended I get a drink called "The Swirl" next time I'm in on a non-work day. She claims it's almost as good as a fro' mo' at El Taco, so I'll definitely have to give it a try.

I got a little teary-eyed as a I left because it made me start thinking about Rio Bravo (remember that place in Buckhead?) which then made me start thinking about being 28 again which made me start thinking about what it was like to have a 30" waist which made me think of Backstreet on a Saturday night which, well, I should stop there.

Overall, a solid Tex-Mex dining experience with good service, too. I will go back.

Viva Uncle Julio!. This Atlanta branch of the Texas headquatered Tex-Mex chain is just as good as the other sibblings in Northen Virginia where I am based. I have been a biggest fan of Uncle Julio's restaurants since 1991. I am so impressed with the consistently delicious and unchanged flavors of their chips, salsa, and the fajitas al carbon. Margarita is kind of expensive, but you can get drunk quicker than from the lower priced beer, so maybe it's woth it.

They actually use cliantro in the salsa. Usually for me, a Mexican restaurant's salsa sets the tone for the rest of the food. They use cilantro in the salsa and it is good. And the food didn't disappoint either.
ATL_train9
This was just an awful experience from start to finish.

I can't say Uncle Julio's was the best Mexican I've had. But for a chain-type restaurant, it outshines a lot of the other ones that are out there.

I've spoken of Uncle Julio's before (also here), in a more formal sit down mode. This is more a report of both the restaurant and the bash, and as we were served buffet style, it doesn't represent what Uncle Julio's can bring to a diner's table. It does

Uncle Julio's is a upscale Mexican chain with sixteen nationwide locations including two in Atlanta. I've dined at the Peachtree Hills location twice and both times had mixed feelings about the experience. The fajitas are good, especially the steak, and a
