Review Ormsby's - Atlanta

Sabrina Sims
We stopped in for a quick dinner on Saturday . Their espresso martini was by far the best one I’ve had! By the time we sat down and ordered we had our food within 15 minutes. We each got a smash burger and it was absolutely delicious! They have games down stairs as well, so after dinner you can hand out and have some drinks play some pool.

Great place to come with a large group. We had about 15 to 20 people in our group and was able to sit down immediately. The atmosphere is really fun with bocce ball, pool, and other games. My food was okay. I ordered the steak and it was a little bit on the tough side, but everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal.

The beer menu is deep. Not feeling like an IPA? It's all good. They have you covered. Lot's of quality beer options and enough liquor behind the bar to put together a cocktail to suit your vibe. Best of all, the staff genuinely seem to like their jobs and want you to have a good time.

This my second time here !!!! The Westside burger is amazing but be sure to add sautéed onions and bacon to it and it is so good . Probably the best burger i ever had so far . The way it was cooked was perfect. That’s why i came back for a second time just for the burger . The appetizer menu do suck badly. the staff are very nice . Downstairs was really cool , they have pool tables and different types of games downstairs which i loved . Eat good upstairs and have fun downstairs . A must visit

I remember when Ormsby's first opened and I'm glad they've been so successful. It's a cool place to hang out, drink and play some games. The food is ok, not bad but definitely not the primary reason to go. It will likely be busy when you go so if you're looking for a quiet place to get to know someone, this may not be it but to have fun in a large group, Ormsby's is ideal. Enjoy!

I like going here with my friends. It is fun to play bocce ball with my friends and to eat French fries with my friends. Then I play darts with my friends. One time I even played sorry! I have a great time :)

An Atlanta staple for young professionals. The top floor is set up for dinner and drinks in a cozy atmosphere and the bottom floor is set up for social drinking and games with billiards tables, bocce ball, ski ball and more all open for free play. There are bars upstairs and downstairs with a great selection of various spirits and a decent selection of house cocktails. Though, I would stick to the house cocktails.

Joseph the bartender is what makes this place for me. He is witty and always makes me laugh. He is also a true mixologist. I never order a drink, he always creates something for me that is beautiful to look at it and tastes fabulous! I have spent many Saturday afternoons living my best life at his bar!

This bar is a great place to go after work and just a fun date idea. They have a variety of food options and craft beers. If you go downstairs they have cool activities like darts, pool, shuffleboard and more. If you want somewhere during the week to go without a club environment this is a must.
Nik H.
Cool duck in date spot with 2 levels; both having an adequate bar. Games and bathrooms are all downstairs. Drinks were good/strong right up our alley. This venue also can host small parties of about 20/25 people downstate in a private area. There wasn't much of a variety regarding food but that's ok. Still a solid establishment.

My first time. Certainly not my last. It’s congested in the area. But service is good. The bartenders are very good and I liked their selection of bourbons & whiskeys.
Myke Chapman
It can get a little hectic and service can suffer BUT, I've never had a visit where I was disappointed I waited a little extra time for something. They really have some of the best bar food and beer selection around. The chicken sandwich itself is worth a 2 hour wait.

Great place to get out and have some fun. They have pool, darts, drinks and food. Gets crowded, but it all good. You need to be 21 if you are going to bottom floor we're the game are. A young crowd but all fun.

My afternoon started off rough (5/10) because of a bartender complaining about his personal problems. The night staff made my experience significantly better and more enjoyable. I will be coming back because of those guys (10/10).

Cool neighborhood bar in West Midtown Atlanta. Two level restaurant/bar with nice offering of entrees, snacks and burgers upstairs; while the downstairs is full of games including Bocce, Darts, Pool, and Shuffleboard. Nice atmosphere, staff and good food. They also have a nice selection of craft beer.

Pretty nice hope in the wall! If you're looking for an out of the way spot, this is it. Parking want optimal but where in ATL is! The food, drink and service was above par. Next time I hope to get down to the basement for that level of entertainment.

SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE... JOSEPH CHANGED THE GAME...FOOD WAS ON ANOTHER LEVEL & HE DAMN NEAR COOKED IT... CRISPY MARINATED CHICKEN THIGH.. CILANTRO LIME SLAW & CHIPOTLE BBQ... LUNCH WAS ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!!!! ORMSBY'S FOR THE WIN
Anthony M.
Great venue. Variety of games (bocce, darts, pool, shuffle board, board games, etc.) and great selection of cocktails and beers.
Ben Zimmerman
Pretty sweet bar! Look for the bottles along the low windows as you walk down the side walk. They have a long beer list with seven ciders in bottles and cans. Corn dogs are pretty good - little chewy, and best with the Bleu cheese. Apparently they have darts and skee ball down below - time to go play darts and skee ball.

I ordered salmon sandwich here. It came with lots of fries. The sandwich was good. Salmon was properly good. But my friends who took veggie wrap had not good experience. That wrap was tasteless. There were many options of games inside the pub.

Bar, beer, and full dining menu upstairs. Games galore like backgammon, darts, bocce downstairs. Seemed popular with the college kids but also attracted others. Part of the popular urban dining precinct Westside Provisions. So many options for shopping and dining there you can't go wrong. Go have a Jeni's ice cream for dessert. Go for a wander after dinner. Pleasant night out in a cute little precinct.

Visited this restaurant for the first time the other night and had a lot of fun. We arrived around 12:30 on a Friday night, and the place was jammin. Awesome decor and vibe. The bar is extensive, and the culture is unique. There are two levels to the restaurant, including two bars, two skee ball tables, bocce ball, and a huge variety of board games to play. We ordered a hot dog with macaroni and cheese and a Cuban sandwich with fries. All of the food was amazing, especially considering it was about 1:30 in the morning. Definitely a must when in the area.

What a delightful place! From the ambience, to the drinks to the food and service. It's a great place to hang out with friends or let loose on a Friday night. Must try!

So much fun!

Go downstairs after dinner and have solid drinks at the bar and play some pool and darts. Make sure you get there early because after 8-8:30 it gets packed and will never get a table or play a game-especially on the weekends.

Ricky is also the best! (The bartender) When it isn't too busy he'll sit and chat with you. He is a really nice guy and knows his beer.
Akshun
Best onion rings I've ever had. They were huge pieces of onion fried to perfection. You could take a bite of the big ring and the rest of ring and batter stayed intact. Also best salmon sandwich I have ever had. Great meal. Good service and a jukebox. Was tempted on a trip back to Atl to go back for the exact same meal.

This is a great place to go with a couple friends. We played pool while we waited for our food. The kitchen was a little slow but when we got our food it was hot and delicious!!! We will be going back!! It has darts and old pinball machines. The door just has a big O on it. It was a wonderful time!

Talk about the perfect dish for brunch! 4 crispy & flavorful chicken tenders followed by 4 Belgian waffle scores topped with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries, then followed up with whipped butter, a spicy chipotle syrup and 2 eggs cooked any way you like--it's the BEST deal you'll find in Atlanta for ONLY $10! Seriously though, I've had chicken & waffles plenty of times from the West Coast to the East Coast, but I've never had them as good as the one they serve here! The chicken tenders are moist and have the perfect breading to meat ratio, the waffles aren't at all soggy or watered down and the combination of the sweet butter and chipotle maple syrup just take it to the next level!

Tried it twice:Good beer selection, but the food is overpriced for its quality.
Since I have to fill this out with 140 characters, drink at Ormsby's but go elsewhere for food.
...I tried the eggplant parmesan sandwich, which was incredible. The flavors were just right and the bread was perfectly crispy on the outside.

Such a great hang out. The food and drink selection is awesome and the area of town has a lot of other fun establishments at walking distance. The Corn Dogs with Siracha Mayo are just amazing. I have had many things on the menu and have always been pleased. It is a fun place to go with friends but go a little early so you can get a bocce court or a board game. It is popular spot and can get pretty crowded. Great place to day drink especially in the winter.

Poor Service during Saturday lunch. My family and I stopped in for a late lunch this past Saturday (9/27). I've been to Ormsby's plenty of times and have never had a problem. However, this dining experience was among the worst I've ever had. Here are some of the problems we experienced during our visit:

1. Waitress was texting/on her cell phone behind the bar for the duration of our visit.
2. This caused her to be inattentive to our dining needs: did not refill water glasses ONCE, did not provide silverware until we asked, etc.
3. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our food. Mind you there was only 1 other table of four people in the upstairs section. There shouldn't have been that long of a wait when so few diners were there.
4. Once our food finally came, the sweet potato fries my brother, mom and I ordered were burnt to a crisp and flavorless. Completely inedible. The Reuben sandwiches were also extremely greasy.
5. After several attempts to get waitress' attention from across the dining room (she was on her cell phone), my brother finally walked behind the bar to explain that our food was burned.
6. On a positive note, the waitress and manager brought us side salads. The manager, however, was not apologetic about our dining experience. After my father nicely explained our disapproval, the manager just shrugged and walked away.
7. Upon review of our bill, we noticed that we were charged 50 cents for honey mustard. Although it is a small amount, we were not informed that condiments would cost extra, and since we did not eat our fries, the honey mustard was not even touched.

I am hoping this was just a fluke on a Saturday, and that future diners will not have the same low-quality experience as me and my family.

Poor performance by the front of the house. Ormsby's has suffered a sharp downward trend in customer service. Called before arrival and made an attempt to make reservations. I'd been there a number of times for lunch without reservations. We were unable to make any since we were told that they didn't take reservations. That would have been fine except when we arrived there were eight (8) tables with reserved placards and the hostess couldn't explain why we were told they don't take reservations. We left. I don't think that simple honesty is too much to ask. I won't go back.

Great West Midtown hang. Great food (small menu, all winners) big beer menu (also good) and a unique basement level bar that has indoor Boccie and corn hole. Great place

Great Place. This little diamond in the rough is a must visit when in downtown Atlanta. Staff is incredible, food is even better and the ambience sets the stage for a very unique experience! This is a wonderful place to grab a few beers, have dinner out or merely just take friends for a night on the town!

Last time for Ormsbys. Hated it. Cold fries. Greasy Reuben. Bread was last weeks. Service has been MISERABLE. Then the menu says parties of 6 or more will automatically pay 18% They charged 20% The manager was RUDE. Never made an apology. Repeatedly QUESTIONED our issues. Slammed new bills back on the table while the waiter was at his other 3 tables telling his customers what a problem we were., First time in my life I've refused to tip. Never again, Ormsby's. NEVER.

Amazing Atmoshpere. Great dining area upstairs and an amazing area downstairs for a night of fun. The food they serve here is really good as well. It's a unique menu with some great offerings. You can't go wrong here no matter what you are looking for.

Great place to hang. When I am able to get out, this is one of the places I go!! Love the food....especially those Onion Rings!!!

Ormsby's has jumped the shark. Hadn't been to this spot in awhile-- since the days when they were packing them in-- but decided to bring an out-of-town guest who is a craft beer lover here for a nightcap. It was a weeknight, so we weren't expecting throngs of people-- and were surprised to be greeted by a doorman carding people and stamping hands. Wow-- must be bustling we thought. Then we opened the door and entered... a virtually empty bar.
Odd, but we were there for the beer anyway. We grabbed some stools at the wide open bar. Our friend was impressed with the extensive beer menu, and after studying it for a few minutes, asked about a couple of the selections-- and was told matter-of-factly that they were out of both. hmm. Cutting to the chase, we settled on a beer recommended by the bartender instead.
Which brings us to the bartender-- you might expect a bartender in a "warm, welcoming and comfortable gathering spot," as the once-hip Ormsby's describes itself, to be a laidback, convivial type. Not our bartender. I'll admit it can't be fun holding court in something of a ghost-town bar night after night, explaining that you don't actually have the beers listed on your menu and serving up uninspired grocery store fare like hummus and pita, but maybe you can fake it just a little? A humorless, arrogant bartender does nothing to improve the woeful atmosphere in a bar that should be grateful for the few patrons it has left.

Crazy. I went to Ormsby's for NYE with a date.... What a nightmare! cop cars and police outside. I saw at least 3 fights and a cute little Bar manager tossing people out like a mad woman. No security in the bar so the Ga Tech students kid of run the place.
If your into Frat partys and fighting... well this is your place.
Not a safe place to take a date. I will never return.
Like I said, What a nightmare...

Go somewhere else.. Did not have a good experience here even though they have an alright drink selection and a few cool games. The place is so crowded that it's not any fun and I never got a chance to play a game. Thinking of trying this place out? Don't. They don't appreciate their customers and you will leave unhappy as many have.
Academic Socialite
Love it. Fun place with an impressive beer list and great sandwiches. Crowded on the weekends, but you can sit at the bar and eat where it's a little less crazy. Games downstairs add to the fun.
Good Eater
Huge portions. The fish and chips was nothing to rave about. Sandwiches were very good.

Quirky, Quaint, but Definitely not Quiet. We went to Ormsby's with some friends for a late-ish dinner & drinks. I had heard great things about the atmosphere & the games that they have downstairs, but I had no idea that the food would be so delicious! I got the Brutus Burger with fries and boy oh boy I was not disappointed. The burger was perfectly cooked & deliciously seasoned and their fries are hand-cut & fabulous! Drew got the BLT with fried eggs on it, which was also very tasty. The thing that was NOT AT ALL good was his beer: Smuttynose IPA. NEVER EVER GET ANYWHERE NEAR THIS BEER (unless you like the flavor of burnt hair & rubber tires with some extra bitter hoppiness). I know that has nothing to do with Ormsby's, but it was part of our experience, sadly. Another beer-related note: one of our friends got the $23 specialty beer they offer & I don't remember what it was, but it was nothing to write home about. Also, do not go on a weekend if you would like to be able to hear the person you are sitting next to or get anywhere near the game tables (shuffleboard, darts, etc). Very crowded on a Saturday night, as we should have expected. Overall a very fun & different place, though! We will probably go back on a weeknight.

A Great International Sampling in Atlanta. I thoroughly enjoyed my first meal here! I had to pinch myself and remember that I was still in Atlanta. The fresh baked pretzels with spicy mustard sauce reminded me of Germany and the plate full of fish & chips reminded me of London. To top it all off, they even have the only type of beer that I drink - a Belgium lambic. A treat indeed!

Excellent food and service. The onion rings and roast beef sandwich were excellent. We went at that awkward time between lunch and dinner on a Saturday (when it's usually difficult to get good, prompt service and food) and were delighted. The bartender and servers were attentive and very helpful (we are easy customers).

The ONLY downside is that it's easy to walk right by Ormsby's and not even know it - we looked at several maps and finally looked underneath Room and Board. I would suggest adding a sign up on the sidewalk to advertise your awesome pub- the atmosphere is warm, fun and food excellent. I wasn't able to taste the beer, but I always appreciate a pub that offers a large variety on tap while not neglecting their food quality.

You have to try the monster onion rings-

RUDE. The rudest bar staff I have encountered in a long time. Atmosphere great. Love the game room and the crowd was fun. Regardless, NOT going back. I can share my dollars with a staff that will at least look up and does not have to be chased down in order to place orders.

Yummy & fun!! Great beer list! If you like light ciders, try the Etinne Dupont. Won't dissapoint.

2nd time here, still not keen on the staff. Aloof, "too cool for school" vibe. Food was exceptional for the Hop City beer dinner hosted by Chris and Michael.

Just perfect. My bar if I owned one.. Where to start? First no plants, no smoking, no Bud, no Miller light, no kiddies after 8:00, TV's kept to a minimum. Pretty much the perfect place to hang with friends. Beer menu has something for everyone, perfect pours (Maddie treated us right!), food, much higher end than what you would expect. Tasty, varied, and priced quite reasonably. Decor was subdued, but warm. Not the bling/flair crap you see at other places. Service was efficient, and not that fake overly friendly stuff (Hi I'm Buffy and I'll be your server blah blah blah). Food came out hot, beers kept coming, and the water glass was never empty. Darts, pool, bocce ball, shuffle board (upright) all available. There is even a pinball machine. This place is run by the same folks that do Atkins Park, so this kind of home run is expected. Check it out and visit Atkins Park as well, these folks know the business.

Mixed Review. Beer- very good. Selection is comprehensive without being overwhelming; priced well and poured well. Food- pretty good. Fries were perfect, dipping sauces just okay. Fried calamari/shrimp just a little greasy. Chopped salad made from obviously fresh and tasty ingredients but could have used some more acid or salt to brighten the flavors. Service- not so good. Some of the best service I've had has been from bartenders. This one was slow, inattentive and didn't appear to have been well trained.
I'll definitely go back for a beer and to give the games a try. I may give the menu another try. But I don't think I'll sit at the bar

Like stepping back into childhood, Ormsby's recalls the food on the old arcades & boardwalks of my childhood up in the Northeast. The menu was wonderful & the gameroom downstairs makes for a great place to meet & hang out with friends & the random people you meet.

Really mixed feelings.. We stopped in for lunch today, pretty much on their one month anniversary. Unfortunately, still way too many problems associated with a new place... only half the draft beer menu available and some of the food menu also AWOL.

With that said, liked our sandwiches with my wife REALLY liking her smoked kielbasa with braised cabbage, beets and apple on a pretzel roll. I enjoyed my bratwurst with kraut but thought it was pretty average. Fries were pretty good, but the onion rings are huge and mostly breading... a personal preference thing that is not my personal preference... I like to taste the onion.

Overall very nice folks and pretty good service. Word of warning that this place is a little hard to find. It's in the White Provision building, under the main stairs from the 14th street extension side... no signage visible from the road or about anywhere else until you're within the last 5 feet or so.

My assumption is that they'll work out the kinks and it'll be a solid neighborhood spot.

Great food & beer menu. Maple syrup cotton candy dessert is fabulous!

Beer mecca. Worth a trip for the beer menu alone!

Ormsby’s is a fun restaurant/bar that features bocce ball, backgammon, skeeball, darts and more. It’s a great place to gather with a group of friends and have a great time. The full bar features tons of beer options and they offer yummy eats as well. The boiled peanuts are a true southern favorite. They come seasoned with Cajun spices and I couldn’t get enough! The hand-cut fries are also great and come with plenty of sauce options.
Friday Date Night
It is said that one of the challenges of eating at Ormsby’s is actually finding the place. It’s a fun hunt and you feel really good when you accomplish the feat. There is no sign, but there is a sense of satisfaction when you push open the door.

I loved this place. Ambiance was perfect. We came in and ate upstairs. It was a great dining area. Very open and roomy with a underground rustic atmosphere. Downstairs they have all kinds of games like bocce ball and many others. So after you finish your meal you can head downstairs and enjoy a night of fun. I can’t think of a place in Atlanta that has a better atmosphere.
Eat. Drink. Repeat.
...start up a game of bocce ball, chess, darts, pool, or shuffleboard.
DineWithDani
The space opened up into what felt like the modern basement of a sophisticated frat house at a college in the mountains. A full bar, pool tables, dart boards and (surprisingly) bocce ball were all available under the surface of this simple establishment. I admit I immediately had a whole new respect for Ormsby’s.

As for my wrap, it was full of roasted chicken, chunks of freshly cut avocado, crispy bacon, tomatoes and sprouts, each ingredient’s distinctive flavor coming together to make the perfect sandwich...

Ok, so I'm never going to be able to eat at Ormsby's , but I love the atmosphere of this new Westside tavern. I literally don't think there's anything on the menu I can eat except the peanuts and rosemary popcorn, and perhaps a burger patty, hold the bun.

I'd never even really heard much about Chicken & Dumplings until it changed my life at the fantastic new Ormsby's. Sure you could opt for a banger or burger, but their nightly rotating specials seem to be where it's at. A mix of pub food and Soul food

I went on Saturday evening with some folks, and was sold after only taking approximately four steps into the door. I am already rallying troops to go back on Friday evening...

t’s comforting to know that a meal of quality bar food is always available, even if you wait till three in the afternoon to have lunch.
