You can find this location of Fred's Mean & Bread in what I think of as the food court of Krog Street Market at 99 Krog St NE, Atlanta, GA 30307- along the back-side across from the restrooms near where the line to Hop City forms. Parking is a bit sporadic for Krog Street Market - meaning that the spaces get filled up quickly and there's usually some attendant out there collecting money (not sure if that's legit or not). I generally park on one of the side streets and walk a couple of blocks.
I tried veg burger here and it was okayish. Patty was oily and taste was bland but bun was soft and yummy. I also tried fries which had good taste of basil.
OMG! I ordered the Korean Philly and it is phenomenal. Legit Philly and Korean flavors. Paid $14 bucks. Korean Steak Philly. Go get some! Krog Street Market.
Good Food, Good Value
W had the Italian Grinder which was delicious. There’s a lot of meat in it, but the heaviness is broken up by the chopped lettuce, red wine vinegar and tart peppers. Wow! We also had their Cauliflower & Eggplant Banh Mi. It wasn’t as successful. The flavors didn’t blend as well and it was, actually, a bit bland and needed salt. So one big winner and one only OK. Servers were nice.
I'm a huge burger fan so I was really excited to try one of their burgers until I got there. Now don't get me wrong the burgers look amazing and I'll be trying one next time, but I could not pass up their 10 oz. prime rib cheese steak! Phenomenal! Well worth the price, and the bbq white sauce that comes with the bbq fries is stellar, very unique!
Such a cool concept. I got the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, my husband got the Oyster Po'Boy and we shared the Cumin Fries. I wasn't the biggest fan of my sandwich to be honest, but the Po'Boy was awesome as were the fries. I would go again to try something else for sure. Also the location in Krog Street Market is lively and fun.
Love it. I had the Pimento Cheese Club and the Old Bay Fries with tarter sauce. The sandwich was amazing with the fried green tomato and just the right bit of heat. The fries were fried perfectly and the tarter sauce had a lemon flavor that is to die for. Very perfect for the summer. I will be going back to try more sandwiches.
Up until today, I am not a fan of cauliflower, but if it tasted like this every time I ate it, I would have it at every meal. Both vegetables are fried, and the addition of spicy mayo makes this a sandwich with a kick.
Best Banh Mi I've ever tasted.. We were walking the Beltline last Saturday and stopped in to see the Krog Street Market. Stumbled onto Fred's without realizing it's pedigree. We shared the Cauliflower and Eggplant Banh Mi and an order of Cumin Fries with Harissa Mayo. Best Banh Mi and best fries and dipping sauce that either of us have tasted thus far. That includes a mighty fine traditional Bahn Mi from a famous San Francisco food truck. The Cauliflower and Eggplant combo may sound unusual...and it is in the best kind of way. The texture and taste of the cauli with the pickles, cilantro, shredded eggplant and jalapeno mayo on top of that awesome homemade bread is just perfection. I was wishing we weren't splitting it. You'll not miss the meat, trust me. Next on my list to try is the burger and more of those cumin fries...if I can stop myself from ordering the Banh Mi again.
A tantalizing list of sandwiches.. Dropped by in the first few moments of their first day open, so won’t comment on my porchetta sandwich w/ salsa verde other than to say it was pretty good. All in all an impressive list of sandwiches that all have a little twist on a more common relative. Along with sandwiches there are cups of big thick seasoned fries (bay, garlic, bbq, etc..) and a number of dipping options. Chase all these with a variety of vintage and regional sodas and you have a very high-end sammie experience that is not necessarily cheap but is absolutely a nod to fresh ingredients and attention to detail.
As a side note, the newly opened KSM (Krog Street Market) is probably less than half way full of businesses at this time and features a fun list of open and soon to be opening spots, most with big local name recognition. The drill is big communal tables or take-out for the “Food Hall”, though Fred’s did have a half dozen stools up front.
I suspect I’ll be a regular.
Did a take out with one of the food delivery apps. The order was prepared and dispatched really quickly. Food was pack nicely, stayed warm when it arrived. Loved the Blackened Salmon burger. Had so much ingredients in it, there was such a food mixture of flavors. The little burger was also cooked well, tasted really good with cheese. The fries were decent, just too thick for my liking. But I’d happily order from this restaurant again.
Fred’s Meat & Bread is worth the hype! Both the pimento club and the Korean chicken Philly were delicious, and the fries were excellent as well! Plus, Krog Street Market is just a fun place to be, so I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone wanting a great sandwich in Atlanta.
Best burger I had in Atlanta, and also in a very nice food court, this is an example of how it should be done. You can pick from a huge selection of craft beers at the bar inside and have it with your burger. Does not get better than this
The service was exceptional. Then I had the burger stack with bacon and cheese steak...... They were the best I've had in Atlanta. I'll definitely be coming back.
Tried a few eats here. Loved Fred's Meat & Bread for their Philly cheesesteak. Delicious! It's like a farmers market where you order your food from various vendors and find a place to enjoy it.
Okay the food doesn’t LOOK as appetizing as you would think, but philly cheesesteak and the cheeseburger were so delicious and definitely hit the spot after being on the road for a while.
Every time I make it out to Atlanta I make sure I visit Fred’s.
The Korean cheesesteak is the absolute must have in my opinion. Very unique sandwich and I’m doubtful you’d find a sandwich like this elsewhere.

Ok, this is one of the best if not the best sandwich I’ve had in Atlanta! The Korean Cheesesteak was getting hyped up by everyone and boy did it live up to the hype. I only ate half the sandwich and saved the rest for the next day, and it was still just as good the next day! I’m for sure stopping by again!
Delivery was exceptional. Food and sauces flavorful and hot. The French fries held up really well thanks to the unique way they pack them.
Kroger street market is amazing, great vibes and awesome environment to enjoy a quick snack. Freds have the best chicken Philly cheese steak sandwiches in the Atlanta area. The meat is so juicy and the white sauce is icing on the cake. There are numerous other restaurants in the area so come check it out.
