Franklin House Cafe

This place is awesome! The coffee is a good quality, the location is very convenient for students (especially those on north campus) and the inside is very cozy! The lighting and dark wood color palate make this a great study spot. Even when the place is packed, it is still quiet enough to get work done without feeling oppressive like in the library. Definitely a spot worth your time!

This place is adorable and has lots of potential, however, there are definitely some things that can use some improvement! Pros: 1. It is quiet and the WiFi is great, making this a good place to study! 2. This place is aesthetically pleasing: tables are nice and sturdy, the exposed brick and strung lights are pretty, and It is simply decorated. 3. I ordered an iced coffee and a turkey sandwich and they were both good. Maybe once this place improves their business model, they can improve their food to go from "something I could make at home" to something that is really worth the money. Not the best food or coffee I've ever had, but I did enjoy it! Cons: 1. Their staffing needs to be more organized; The nice lady who took my order didn't even work there, she was "filling in for a friend"... 2. It took like 10 minutes to get my iced coffee (which doesn't take long to make) and I was one of maybe 3 customers in the cafe... I will give another pro for the fact that the other worker knew it was taking forever even though I didn't say anything and he turned my half sandwich into a whole for free! Overall, this place is cute and the staff was friendly. Once this place learns to run more efficiently, it has potential to go from ok to great!

This place is delicious! The Iced Macchiato is to die for, and is perfect with a grilled sandwich. It's also a great place to study, work, or go to lunch with a few friends. The cashier was nice both times we went. One downside is the food takes awhile to come out, but If you're going to be there studying for a few hours anyways, it's almost always perfect timing.

Clean with good music. Atmosphere is a little unusual, kind of feels like a temporary establishment. The coffee they use tastes good, but they need to work on their barista skills. Cappuccino had no milk foam and way too much milk. With 1000 Faces in walking distance, they are really going to need to improve their coffee products. I cannot say for their food, though.

The service was alright. Slow. French Toast wasn't anything to write home about. They forgot to hand me the maple syrup I ordered alongside it. Walls are cracking in areas. Temp inside must have been near 80. The steam wand to their espresso machine is REALLY DIRTY. I highly caution anyone to get an espresso beverage here until they clean the caked/baked milk off of it. I came in around 9, so they had time to at least wipe it down a bit. I would come here if I was hungry with few alternatives.
