Cecilia Villaveces Cakes

I’m so glad I ordered Cecilia’s cakes for my rehearsal dinner and wedding! I was planning to get a tiered cake from somewhere simple like Publix, but then decided to get 5 different 10” cakes from here instead. They were delicious! The strawberry cake, the coconut meringue, and the Spanish lemon were all incredible!! I had been looking forward to trying these at the wedding, and they did not disappoint. Each cake was luxurious, moist, and flavorful, with equally yummy icing (and I’m not usually a big fan of icing). The cakes were beautiful and impressively big - we had lots left over : ) Thank you!

Great cakes and desserts, an Athens institution. Not only does everything taste great and look beautiful, the staff is always super friendly. Every person I’ve met there has been warm, friendly, and super helpful. Recently I ordered a cake two weeks ahead online and scheduled a pickup. Shortly after placing the order, I had a scheduling issue popup and I would not be able to pick it up by the time I scheduled. I emailed them asap and they were fast with a reply and a work around for me. I was so relieved that I immediately asked if they would have cupcakes available then as well. And they do! Love love love this place.

Cecilia’s Cakes are top-notch, you definitely will not find a more delicious cake for sale in Athens. I have a difficult time choosing a favorite favor (we’ve tried so many) but the Tres Leche cake pictured here for my sister’s birthday was exceptional. My all-time favorite is likely the red velvet (cake photo with painted flowers) but every type I have tried is out of this world. Not to mention, the cakes look like works of art. I love the various sizes available for purchase, we bought a 10” for my sister’s birthday for around $50. It was way too much cake for 5 people, but it all got eaten within the week because it was that delicious. 😊 Highest of recommendation to Cecilia’s!

I usually do not write a bad review unless the customer service is bad as in when they do not even realize an apology can solve conflicts. We called last minute asked about a cake for my moms bday. I was told they have one and we told they we are on our way. We were literally 4 minutes away and when we walked in I saw them sell it to another customer. The Asian American woman with all due respect didn’t even have the basic decency to apologize for what happened. She said usually orders need to be done 48hrs and we can’t hold cakes and got to sell if someone comes for it. Ok that’s understandable but then why can’t you be clear with your customer on phone that Hey can we hold the cake for you ? When you know we are coming for it in few minutes, all you had to do was be clear with us. Atleast an apology for what happened. There was another staff a Caucasian American who was polite enough to apologize( she was super nice) may be the other person needs to take a lesson from her on how to be courteous to customers. The cake was a 6/10. This review was for the way that one person took a customer for granted.

I first tasted Cecilia’s Cakes at the Last Resort restaurant in downtown Athens. The slices always seemed to melt in my mouth. I loved the flavors and how moist it stayed. So delicious. I recently ordered a strawberry cake for my MiL’s birthday. I’m not sure I’ll ever order any other cake flavor again. I kind of want to order one again right now. It was so yummy, pick up was really simple, and the cake was worth every penny. I highly recommend ordering your next cake from Cecilia’s.
