This place is awesome. Great prices on fresh crab. You can order a cooked crab and eat it right there on the spot. Not well marked, but a great local hole in the wall spot. I will definitely be going back in the future. We found it by accident and I am so glad that we did. They serve an awesome crab melt. You can get raw oysters as well and you get to open them. Great experience. Drive across the pier bridge (only 1 car at a time) to get here. Worth it!
We stopped here and picked up 6 nice fresh live crabs for our boil yesterday. The crabs looked great and were bright and not pale and molty. Brought them to our place in Cannon beach and had an amazing meal with the extended family.
This is a hidden gem, and my new favorite place! I lived on the Oregon Coast for several years, and spent my entire life vacationing at different places up and down the coast. This place has the best crab melts anywhere along the coast - hands down!
It is a little hard to find, so don’t give up! I took my mom here at the end of a three-day beach getaway. Visiting with Tom, enjoying his crab melt, and checking out the live crab tank was her favorite part of the trip!!
The owner hooked us up with fresh cooked crab and a take home box for the fresh oysters we are bringing home to Portland area for dinner tonight. No frills, exactly what I would want from a Pier live crab shack. 5 deserved stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The best oysters in Oregon! The owner is always so funny and welcoming, he will answer all your questions and Shuck them right in front of you. The clam chowder is also delicious! We come here every time we come to the coast. I wish I could give it 10 stars! Seriously the owner is hilarious.
Great experience at Hanthorn! Located at Pier 39 in Astoria! We made a Special trip here to get fresh Crab and Clams…They where and tasted like everything we where wanting/expecting plus some! Extremely friendly and created an awesome experience for our boys! # Fun #unique #friendly #checkitout
I got the crab cocktail and it was fantastic, my husband got the crab melt and insisted that I taste it. Well... I put the rest of my crab cocktail aside to save for later and ordered a crab melt! It was amazing, Meg Ryan worthy even! The bread stayed crispy, the crab was perfect, the cheese was great. The crabcakes were the best I've had. He just uses quality ingredients and researches to make sure that he is giving you the best food experience! The menu is limited... but all that you need.
Awesome fish monger. Really nice guy who runs the place. I caught him right a closing time and he was very gracious and helpful in getting us what we wanted.
He had nice, large crabs and really good oysters. Made for a great feast! I will definitely buy my fish and crustaceans there in the future!

Nice folks and offerings. The reason I knocked off a star was my credit card was taken and returned without a signature ($87). No problem there but after I saw the sale amount another worker began talking to me and I needed to turn away from the register to answer her. That is when a healthy tip was applied without my consent. Don’t let go of your card and tip if you wish.
