Review Rollin Thunder Bbq - Astoria

You can't beat the price for all the food you get! The BBQ beef brisket was tender and smoky smothered in some of the best sauce I've ever tasted. Same flavor profile with the ribs. Only complaint would be the pulled pork sandwich my son ordered and the cornbread: just a little dry for our liking. The owner is very endearing and would check in to see how we were. Thank you!

Really good BBQ! I had the beef brisket sandwich and baked beans. It's a pulled style brisket, not sliced like I usually get other places, but the sauce was so good it made up for it! The owner is super nice and the price is great. Would definitely eat here again and recommended it to all BBQ lovers.

Excellent value for very yummy barbecue. Had the chicken dinner plate, two large juicy smoked boneless chicken thighs with barbecue beans and macaroni salad. Special price was only 7.50 and regular is only 8.95. A very generous pulled pork sandwich and one side was only 5.95-6.95. Super friendly quick counter service. And a super friendly kitty cat towns the hallways but is nonobtrusive.

Absolutely delicious BBQ here, the spot is right on the water and shares a building with an antique market. The guy running it is quite the character and loves motorcycles, I chatted with him since we both shared the same make of bike (Triumph) and both loved the triple engine. Prices were great, the ribs were awesome and the cornbread was perfect, plus served with plenty of butter to slather all over it!

I've been in the restaurant industry for over a decade, born and raised in the South. Best damn BBQ I've found on the West Coast hands down. Decor is unpretentious and much like BBQ joints down south. Great eats at a dirt cheap price! Fed a family of 6 with 2 teenaged boys for $30, we were all stuffed and had leftovers.

It is very cheap and very fast, nice guys working the counter. Quality of food is ok, not exceptional. It's served out of trays cafeteria style, like a little country restaurant. Doesn't compare to my favorite BBQ places back in the Carolinas, but it did the job.

Pulled pork sandwich was amazing! We drove to Astoria from Kennewick Washington to get Seafood and come across an amazing barbecue place that caught my taste buds away from all Seafood! I will be back every time I'm in astoria!

Food was good, wife thought ribs were a little dry. Sauce was awesome. Almost left as no one was inside started to leave then saw owner out front. Would come back just right when he opens so stuff is not sitting in warmers

Best BBQ in the area! Fantastic! Also, don't pass on it if you're a motorcycle fan! The owner has a bunch of vintage bikes and great memorabilia.

Their ribs and smoked chicken were to die for! Homemade potato and mac salad were delicious! Will definitely eat there again! Well worth the money.

Excellent pulled pork. No kids menu but wet dog cafe is near and you can get kids meals to go. Owner let us bring in food for the child!

Excellent bbq for the price. We got two different sandwiches which seemed like we had two different sauces. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good bbq.

This food is amazing, we have actually driven to Astoria just to eat here. The owner is great and very friendly, he's also a motor cycle guy and if you are interested it makes for great conversation.

Three of us had take out. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Ribs were good, brisket and pulled pork were a bit dry, sauce was good. potato salad was very good, beans as well. Cornbread was a bit heavy and dry for my taste. All in all the food was okay, had better, have had WAY worse

We came back this year because LAST year we had very good food. This visit did not disappoint as far as my BBQ pulled pork sandwich goes. However, my husbands 1/3rd rack of ribs left a little to be desired. The reason for the 2 stars was mainly given due to the customer service we recieved, or more to the point DIDN'T receive. The owner was very surly to say the least, and really just down right rude. We were the only one's in the joint and he could'nt be troubled to bring an ice tea to our table after having to wait for it to be made. Just not the right way to do business and to bring back customers. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Oregon's best kept secret. I've had BBQ from at least 100 places on the west coast, and hands down this is the best.....

Horrible BBQ, dry meat, dry cornbread. AND the owner was rude. I would NEVER recommend this place. Terrible and not worth half the money it cost.

This was gross. The meat was incredibly fatty and produced a gag reflex, and there wasn't much flavor to cover it up. The place wasn't clean and my plate was so greasy it was falling apart. Won't ever go back.

Worst BBQ ever. Owner seemed nice. Food was AWFUL. Food all seemed like it had been sitting under heat lamps for two weeks. Owner smothered everything w/generic sauce in order to cover flavor. Cornbread tasteless and stale. Perhaps the worst restaurant I have ever eaten ate.

Extremely Rude Owner!! Disgusted!. Our family of 5 came to this BBQ place for the first time today. My husband is a huge fan of BBQ so we thought we'd give it a try. I am not familiar with the different types of ribs and asked the man behind the counter (the owner of all people) if I could see the ribs so I could see how big they were. He did open the lid after giving me a nasty look and acting terribly put out. As a side note, it was not busy and there was no one behind us in the buffet style line so I'm not sure why my request was such a put out. My husband said he thought a "half rack" would be enough for himself and two of our young boys and again, me not being familiar, didn't know how big that was or how many ribs that would be. After about a minute of discussing with my husband and deciding what to order I asked the owner if he could show me how big a half rack was. He very aggressively ripped the lid off the ribs, grabbed a "half rack" with his tongs and raised them in to the air shouting at me "I just showed it to you"! I was absolutely floored!! I could not believe that he was speaking like that to me. I just turned and walked away. My family followed and we will NEVER be back!!! After this experience I have seen other reviews and it looks like we may have dodged a bullet!! The food looked really bad and the place was filthy so maybe it was a blessing in disguise. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone EVER!!!

Great barbecue! The pulled pork sandwich was awesome. The barbecue sauce is spot on. Not many choices for sides, but the potato salad was nice. The owner is friendly. Don't expect a fancy interior, just really good barbecue.

The food here was very tasty. The meat was very good, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The owner Bruce McBryde was very friendly, and good with kids. My daughter (age 2) was running around having a good time, playing with his cat, and learning lessons from him. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone. Plus the view outside was spectacular.

Good. Big portions at a great price. great sides...too bad it's so hidden

Pretty good. I wish he would clean the place up a bit, have better hours, and make a bit more effort with the sides; getting the meat right is the hard part and he does that... it is the rest that is lacking. The sauce is either out of a bottle or a great reproduction of it and the sides are boring. Still the prices are good, as is the meat itself and there is not much competition for BBQ around here so it will do in a pinch.

Bad BBQ. We decided to try this place after hearing someone say that it was very good. The interior was dingy which I'm not all that opposed to eating in a "dive" if the food is good. However, the food was terrible. I had the brisket sandwich. The meat was barely warm, dry and had a strange flavor. The potato salad was very bland. My husbands pulled pork was slightly better but his coleslaw had no flavor either. I hate to speak badly of a restaurant after just giving it one try but I just can't give this a second chance after that meal.

Yum! Big portions of BBQ & sweet tea like I've had in east Texas. Wife and I have been eating here about twice a year for the last 4 years when we pass through town. Each time has been a good experience.
