Review Blue Scorcher Bakery Cafe - Astoria

Our third stop on this tour of Astoria was this eclectic, incredible coffee shop and bakery. The smell of coffee and pastries is quite peaceful. They make delicious cookies and brownies. The maple latte was incredible and something I have not had before. The servers were super friendly and welcoming.

Great local bakery and coffee shop. The freshly baked pastries were tasty and so were the breakfast entrées we ordered. The staff was great as well.

Such a cute cafe! As soon as you walk in you can smell the pastries, smells like heaven. The pastries are wonderful, their breakfast sandwich had a great spicy mayo, and the latte I had was perfect. The staff are so nice and welcome you with a smile. It's quaint and cozy and even has a few tables to sit at outsides. So glad I found Blue Scorcher!

A good friend recommended this lovely cafe as a stopping point on my road trip down the 101, and I’m so glad I did! Not only was the service absolutely wonderful, but the fresh, yummy cinnamon roll completely made my morning after a night of camping. Will definitely stop here again!

Great neighborhood place for excellent coffee, baked goods and breakfast. The cranberry orange granola in particular is crunchy and flavorful. Note that although it opens at 7, the kitchen doesn’t open till 8 and for those early hours there is a line out the door. But worth the wait.

First of all, they make a great cup of coffee. Second.. if the caprese sandwich us available.. get one! Warm crusty bread sliced thin enough to let you get a good bite and thick enough to hold the slightly salty pesto, fresh mozzarella and chopped tomatoes. I’d drive back to Astoria ( and I live in Minneapolis) to have this again.

We took a one week trip in the pacific north west, staying one night in each town. This was the BEST breakfast I had the whole trip. I had the vegan breakfast sandwich adding avocado and tempeh sausage with a latte. My husband had the breakfast burrito. It was a Sunday morning and pretty busy, but the staff was very polite and worked as fast as they could. They notified customers of short staffing and estimated wait times for the food. I highly recommend to everyone!

A favorite bakery spot in Astoria. Love the gluten free Sour Cream Coffee Cake. This is a popular item that is sometimes sold out by the end of the day. If this happens, I try to get a slice of the Orange Juice Loaf. Large windows offer great natural lighting and a view of the Columbia river.

Everyone here is super nice and real and accommodating to what I needed. Was able to get sourdough bread 🍞 and a jalapeño and cheese bagel. Very delicious.

Blue Scorcher almost got five stars from me. But there were three bits that kept it from being the top experience. + Creative vegetarian sandwich option in the tempeh Reuben. From the aesthetics of the pickled red cabbage to the in-store baked rye bread, this sandwich is almost perfect. The tempeh, while well seasoned, was cut into large chunks. It takes a lot to make tempeh palatable and keeping large pieces in a dish isn’t it. If it were sliced thinly, the sandwich would be *chef’s kiss*. + The sour cream coffee cake was another inventive surprise. Moist cake with a superb balance of cinnamon and fresh blueberries. We wanted more, for sure. +House black coffee was good. Cut the dessert well. The hot Chai, however, a bit watered down. +Dog-friendly patio! - The order taker was friendly at first but when I didn’t give a large tip for my over $60 order (for taking my counter service order, my you), I got the cold shoulder from then on. There were no directions to where the utensils were, no directions to the complimentary water, nothing. Astoria is a town that on a Saturday is filled with visitors. We’re not regulars. A few courtesy notices for where everything is (it wasn’t obvious) go a long way.

Neat experience but the food was way overpriced for what it was. I had the yogurt, granola, & fruit bowl (the one with 3 small bowls). I left feeling like I should've just run to the store and bought a bag of granola + some yogurt. Everything definitely tasted homemade which can be a good thing but the yogurt tasted nothing like what you'd buy in a store. Cute restaurant though!

Excellent portions and atmosphere--really enjoyed the splendor breakfast and how balanced the meal was--included greens, eggs, gf toast and potatoes that weren't greasy w chipotle mayo and jam and a few small pieces of fruit ! Happy we stopped by 😊

Fresh and wonderfully made food. Delicious coffee and tea. I love coming to the Scorcher for breakfast, lunch or to grab a coffee. They have a great bakery and some sweets if you need a pick me up or a yummy gift. I would definitely recommend going in and trying this place out if you have not already!

We came back to this great cafe in this morning again. Our staying place offered free breakfast but we skipped the morning service. Because it is not organic we don't need to eat too much in the morning. Every day we don't need any foods in the morning. And David wanted to taste an organic wonderful coffee to start his new day. The cafe staffs remembered us because we came to visit here yesterday. And on Saturday morning, many guests looks to enjoy breakfast with smile & talk in this café! We really had a great time again and this café worth to visit when you come to Astoria! How great we can start with great atmosphere & wonderful coffee in Blue Scorcher Bakery & cafe anyway....^^ Friendly service, great ORGNIC coffee, tea &delicious bread...everything we love this café!

I am very happy to have found a location that is welcoming to myself and my son. An admitted coffee shop addict, I've fallen for the Blue Scorcher. I've had several decadent treats, tasty coffees and lattes, not to mention their tea! Best hummus too! Everyone is also incredibly friendly and patient. I highly recommend this location for families, singles, and even a meeting or two. They are also just down the street from the Heritage and just a few blocks away from the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

Delicious food and coffee! Great place for breakfast/brunch. Good atmosphere. The only I'd change is to add bacon to the menu. Lol.

I love having found a place my family all love to go to when they visit; and I love to stop by for a cardamom honey latte and their special breads and sweet rolls...and their delicious food! What a special find.

One of my favorite places -- anywhere. For breakfast I had a decadent start with a piece of applesauce chocolate cake, then ordered the tempeh and toast. Hung out there with my son who raved about the huevos rancheros Went back in the afternoon for a cosmo cookie and a cup of coffee. Yeah, yeah.

The arugula salad was the best I have ever had. The patty melt was also wonderful. Visiting, from Greensboro, NC.

I like the feel of the restaurant. The food is good and well prepared. There is also some lovely art work and quilts from locals that can be purchased. Great view and the pastries are extra yummy.
