Egyptian Cafe - Astoria - Photo album

I find it funny how people come in here expecting something different that what Ali doesn’t pretend to offer. If you walk in here and see what you see, why do you think it will magically be what you want it to be. This one was of the most magical evenings from the warm hearted Ali. A dinner we will
Chef Ali puts together an amazing dining experience. One filled with delicious foods and entertaining conversations stretching your meal for hours and hours. It’s nice to slow down once in a while and be enjoy being human.
This restaurant brings back the importance of having a chef interact with his customers, someone who really cares about who he’s about to serve. For the quality of food you get, the prices are worth it and the flavors are immaculate. My jaw literally dropped after the first taste of each plate he ha
Went to have dinner tonight and didn’t know what to expect. What a wonderful experience we had. The food was fabulous and Ali was so friendly and passionate about his menu. Would highly recommend but remember to bring cash only.
Probably my fave restaurant in the city, period. Chef Ali js the man, he will whip up some of the best food you’ve ever had in your life while engaging in funny and thoughtful conversation. Every time I go here there’s some other group here who say they’ve been coming for decades. I got engaged here
This place is a gem. It’s a very small place with enough seating for 10-15 people. The proprietor is an excellent gentleman who cooks everything from scratch and serves it. He is also very warm and friendly. The food is delicious, full of flavors, made from ingredients that are very fresh. Overall
One of the best dinners and evenings in my life. Ali greeted my boyfriend like a long lost brother and me the new girlfriend with a gigantic hug. Don’t go expecting to eat asap. Ali takes his time, tells his tales, preps and cooks all by himself. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!
Ali makes you feel so as if you're right in the comfort of your on home growing up again. Get ready to taste those great delicious spices in all the food, very traditional back home food. Thank you Ali, all the best friend.
Have you ever watched the movie "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", and wondered if you would ever come across one of those tiny restaurants that is owned and cooked by a man who has devoted his entire life and craft to his food and his culture? To say this was one of the best meal ever is an understatement. W
I never ate inside the facility I've been inside several times. Hence, I have ordered from them and let me tell you, extremely
It’s like stepping into someone’s home kitchen. Chef/owner is super friendly and there’s no set menu. I had the fish and it was cooked so well.
Amazing. This is what you come to New York for. Owner/chef is a one man show who makes delicious and authentic Alexandrian Egyptian food. Come hungry and give plenty of time, about 4 hours. You will leave with an experience you won’t forget.
A fun an interesting experience, with a owner with a big but sometimes caustic personality. Ali, the owner, is a big character, very passionate about what he does! Ali loves the cultures of the world, and aims to make his restaurant a monument to authentic Alexandrian cuisine. Stepping into kebab
Absolutely phenomenal. Ali is a true artist, every dish that he served was exquisite and unique. The falafel was the best I’ve ever had, the mackerel was cooked to perfection, and the lamb was delicious as well. If you’re looking for a truly authentic and unique experience, this is the place to go.
The food is amazing. My advice: Just tell Ali to bring you food (he will honor most dietary constraints if needed). We've had lamb cheeks, an amazing lamb shank, warm cauliflower salad with pomegranate, and a great artichoke dish. But more important is the conversation with Ali, the owner — a kind a
