Very high quality food. Affordable prices. Very fresh vegetables and more importantly VERY fresh fish. Never seen fresher in a similar restaurant. Guys are super nice, hard working prompt and good manners
Absolutely the best Shai or Arabic tea ☕️ (hot water, black loose-leaf tea, fresh mint, and sugar) in NYC!
Disclaimer: I did not try anything else except the tea ☕️; so the review is strictly pertaining to the tea 🫖.
Best spot in Astoria to get some late night food in. My go to spot Moroccan tea 🍵
Food is delicious and have a variety of proteins
Don’t miss this shop! The sign is inset a bit, so you may walk by it. It’s worth searching for! The Spanish rice was wonderfully cooked, and the Moroccan mint tea had excellent flavor. Both Mohammad’s are kind and generous!
A very relaxed place to enjoy a good meal.
Foods are well made and seasoned perfectly and very reasonably priced.
One of the few places that serve Baby Lamb Chops...to die for.

Dispatch from Astoria, Queens:
With its bold color scheme and easy to digest chopping block name, Halal Sandwich Shop was one of the last places on Steinway I wanted to explore. Somehow it just gave off too much of a chain fast food vibe. Using it as a quick place to grab a sandwich to take into a nearby hookah bar back during the World Cup and surprised by the impressive offering, I've since been back a few times to try different things. After exploring a good portion of the menu, it is hard not to come back to those delicious Moroccan spicy tuna sandwiches known as poccadios (written poccadillo on the menu here).
The best authentic food on steinway. The sandwiches are particularly incredible. My favorite is the lamb kebab. Their hot sauce is legit. I'm only ever here after midnight and the place is *packed*. It's a small narrow space with some bar height seating on the opposite side of where you order. Not the place for casual relaxed dining for sure but they do have outdoor seating in front now and that's nice to sit at.
The food was great. The service is also amazing.
Hard working with no complaints even when the customer is rude and just hard to please. They stay humble and quiet and do their job! They deserve more 5 star ratings!!!
I have been going there for years. I normally order hungry man special. I probably ate that hundred times. It's still taste good to me. Their quality of burgers went down and their philly cheese steak is so so. Steaks are good some days and some days are not good. I once tried their lentil soup during cold winter night and man I really enjoyed with dip of bread. I used to love their mint tea. They don't use same mints as they used to before. I remember one of the staff told me that those mints used to come from abroad. It smelled really nice on my tea. Overall, a good place for late night eating. I normally order and have it delivered to Jasmin lounge right across.
