Opened in 2019 and inspired by the owners’ grandmothers, this establishment located on Ditmars Blvd in Astoria is dedicated to serving its customers homestyle cooking. Acento Latin Kitchen and Bar caters to cuisine from a variety of Latin cultures, including Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Ecuador, and Mexico, but with a very strong Colombian cuisine. My cousin and I came for dinner tonight on a weeknight as first timers. Upon arrival, the interior was nicely decorated with a fusion of Latin souvenirs and family photos, while Spanish music was playing in the background. We were greeted by the staff. For starters, we decided to split the chicken empanadas. For our main entree, we have decided on Ropa Vieja (Cuban-style shredded beef served with yellow rice, sweet plantains, and black beans) and Mini Bandeja Paisa (a mini-traditional country platter with beef, rice, beans, pork skin, sweet plantains, eggs, corn cake, and avocado). The food was totally delicious and authentic, and the taste was right on point! The pricing was comparable to the area. We had an excellent time, and we can recommend this place.
Amazing food!
Huge plates (I only ate like half of mine so I had a huge plate of leftovers), good service and nice atmosphere (music a little on the loud side) but everyone time someone opened the door I would get so cold! I wished they had one of those door that keeps the costumers a little more warm 💖
I’d definitely be back!
Oh, this is a cute little spot to stop and get some delicious Spanish food. The food was good. The service was just ok. The fish tacos were delicious, the seafood rice could’ve been better, the bandeja was good and the drinks were good.
WOW! Delicious fresh food & welp made Don Julio Margarita! Professional & fast service, definitely coming back!
Omg this place was absolutely delicious. The Margarita was on point, not watered down but perfect. The service and food where beyond delicious. It was being on the a Caribbean island with all the traditional food and drink. They earned their 5 and I cant wait to ear here again. The couple behind us said they were hooked from the first day they ate there and they now cone every Tuesday and are still satisfied.
We had walked by this restaurant many times but finally decided to have a dinner date there after attending a taping of THE LATE SHOW (which was on its third taping since the Writer's strike finally ended!). I looked it up and it got great reviews, and took a look at the menu and thought the prices sounded more reasonable than most of our Astoria neighborhood, so we went for it and we were not disappointed! Our server was very kind and helpful, and we mostly took her recommendations. We got 1) "La Pabellon" arepa -- Signature style corn cake stuffed w/ avocado, black beans, shredded beef, sweet plantain, & cheese. I'm not usually a plantain fan, but the blend of flavors was SO good and I didn't even notice the plantains (or if I did it was just plain delicious!) and 2) Churrasco Jalisco - Mexican style grilled sirloin served w/ guacamole, tortillas, creole sauce potatoes or yellow rice & beans. This was also SO flavorful! The servings were plentiful, too. We thought we wouldn't be able to eat it all but we almost did simply because it was so, so good. Our drinks were great, too -- a margarita and I forget what the other one was, but both were tasty, nice & strong (so many restaurants seem to barely put any alcohol in their drinks, but these folks get it right!). We will definitely be back, hopefully for another lovely evening of al fresco dining before the weather gets too cold!
Amazing authentic Latin cuisine. Ropa Viejas the Cuban sandwich tres leches all terrific. Huge portions and not expensive. Highly recommended!
The portion of food they give is definitely worth what we spent. Drinks were good and services was okay. Our empanadas were a little cold on the inside but they were very delicious.
My husband and I went here for lunch. We enjoyed the ambiance and the experience of dining in here. The food was very good! The server was very attentive. The food I got was a big portion for a small person like me but I got to take-out my lunch. Overall, it was a great lunch!
Such a great place for lunch or dinner! The food was excellent, large portions, friendly service. I have zero reasons to complain. We will come back to this restaurant again very soon.
Thank you!
