You open an ordinary door, and suddenly it's 1963. The breads are fresh with crunchy crusts and piled high, the cinnamon bun was nicely dense, and not too sweet. Good gawd, even the coffee was perfect. A cheerful place of quality from a time when "carbs" was not a word of fear. And they have pizza and some savory buns too (with cheese and spinach). I wish the place had a seating area, but it does have a counter to lean on as you eat a sweet and inhale the glorious vibes.

I’ve been going here for 24 years. Get the corner slice of the Sicilian pie! And grab a platter of homemade cookies 🍪

My favorite croissants in the world, better than any I’ve had in Italy or France. Recently they had lemon custard filled croissants that were incredible. I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t think was really good. Pretzels braids, banana nut bread, apple muffins, and great pizza. They make simple sandwiches on terrific bread that are a nice quick lunch. Unless you are a white Italian American with a thick Queens/Long Island accent, they are not going to be nice to you. Don’t expect it. But who cares? It’s New York, and the food is good. Nobody in this godforsaken city gives good customer service. Just get your cookies and leave. If you want a friend, move to Ohio.

Best bread in the city hands down. Glad it's so close to the subway, so I can grab a quick coffee and buttered roll on the way to work, or a nice loaf on the way home to go with dinner.

Love Rose and Joe's. Love the rolls, Italian cookies mainly in the morning. If I stop by later in the day, I get the pizza. Everything is fresh and delicious, the staff are friendly and helpful.

Exceptional breads, tomato pie, fruit pies (I definitely recommend the apple crumb), and more. Extremely reasonable prices, and very nice staff. Wonderful small business, I'll be stopping by anytime I'm even remotely nearby.

Wish that I could give this establishment way more than 5 stars, because they certainly deserve it! Fantastic everything, but my faves are the Apple Muffins and Chocolate Linzer Tart Cookies!

Rose and Joe's Italian Bakery in Astoria-Ditmars Blvd is a hidden gem, their pastries are delicious. I recommend getting their zeppoles and banana nut bread, their pizza and sandwiches are valid too.

One of my fav Italian bakeries in NYC. Loooooove their pizza with tomato and olives. Plain croisants are also good ($2.50). Sugar free option available

I am addicted to the crispy hazelnut meringue cookies half-dipped in chocolate! They have a subtle flavor of anise and cinnamon and eating one makes me want seven more. Try eating them with an espresso...omg!!!

I was going for a slice with a whole wheat (!) crust, when I noticed the Sicilian. "It just came out of the oven," she said. Sold ! And it was good.

Proud fan of Rose & Joe's since 2017! I don't miss a chance to bring home their mini chocolate dipped cannoli's when I fly home for the holidays. Pro Tip: You want them chocolate dipped in order to keep the shell crispy otherwise they'll get soft in whatever container you bring them on the plane in.

My hubby loves their pizza and I think they have the best Cannoli's anywhere in the 5 boros.
I have been to all of the famous Italian bakeries in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Rose and Joe' s has the best Cannoli's IMO in the 5 boros.
The reason I think this is because many of them are sickening sweet. Rose and Joe's is just right.
It has a refreshing taste!

Rose & Joe's is a bakery that is celebrated as much for their square Sicilian style pizza slices as they are for their Italian cookies, cannoli, pies and cake.
My spouse and I stopped in Sunday to purchase two square pizza slices, two round Neopolitan slices, four mini cannoli, and a lattice apple pie. The bakery provides no dine in counter. The pizza is boxed and string tied or bagged for takeout in the same manner as the bakery items.
The square slices popularity is justified. The crust is crispy but not hardened. The sauce is tangy and the flavor of ripe tomatoes burst through each bite. The round slices are cheesy and have the same sauce as the squares. We both give the pizza at Rose & Joe's a thumbs up.
The mini cannoli was more of a mixed review. I liked the filling. The cannoli was too fragile to the point that the remaining cannoli disintegrated upon bite impact. I was holding crumbs and filling that were dangling precariously. My spouse panned it, declaring that the filling contained "too much flour".
The apple pie was slightly better than the cheaper boxed pies distributed to supermarkets. This is more than likely due to the fact that Rose and Joe's apple pie does not have additives to preserve it for a shelf life.
Overall, I like Rose & Joe's Bakery and now I have a better grasp on what to purchase on subsequent visits.

Ari Cybin. I read all the reviews on Yelp on Rose and Joe's Italian Bakery and I was struck that the average ratings range from 4 to 5 stars. Today, April 15, 2014 at around 2:45 before 3PM I had the worst experience at this bakery. I agree the cookies are excellent and the managers are very nice. But, one of the workers was extremely rude and verbally attacking and fighting with me (a customer). I enjoyed always going to this bakery many times because of the warm and enjoyable cookies. I asked the lady worker for the bottoms row third to last on left display for the crunchy delicious chocolate and white cookies. I asked for an assortment. I had a feeling she did not listen so I went to the counter at the cashier area and asked her if she place the assorted chocolate and white. She replied "no". And, she told me that I did not ask for an assorted of the 2 types on one tray for a 1/2 a pound order. She was accusing me of lying and repeated herself again that I did not ask for the assortment. I spoke to the manager at that shift and the manager apologize for her worker poor attitude. And, I told the manager that no need to apologized for the lady worker because the manager was not t fault. My family was with me never placed her order because my she was shocked and surprised at what goes on the bakery. When I was about to leave the bakery the same lady worker laughed at me and we exchanged words. I tried calling the owner and spoke with a different manager today but was told the owner is always in and out so there is not specific time when owner will be in. This leaves me to but write this review. I was very disappointed at the customer service provided today and I hope the unhappy worker does not mistreat or talk back to her customers. I am a very nice person and was sadden by the workers treatment of me. If the owners read this. Please retrain your workers to always provide excellent service. And, that the workers should not talk back to its customers, be rude and verbally fight back and laugh at customers. I am very disappointed. Thank you.

A must! I stop here almost every day and ponder over the amazing assortment of cookies. Best bread in all of Astoria!
