Review Bahari Estiatorio - Astoria

Lots of Greek options in Astoria, but my go to spot is always Bahari! Love to bring friends and eat family style with their simple, fresh and well executed dishes. Their grilled octopus is exceptional and can easily be cut with a fork. The surprise standout is their gigante beans… tender and well seasoned. It’s always nice when the main entrees are accompanied with sides that are just as good!

Bahari is a staple in my families rotation of restaurants in Astoria. The food is fresh and flavorful. I love the Tzatziki, Lamb Chops, and Greek Salad. The Octopus is soft and cooked very well and the vegetable dishes are great. This is my grandpas (Pappoús) favorite restaurant so it has to be good! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Fantastic Greek establishment in the neighborhood. We love going here for freshly grilled seafood of all kind (since the grilled meat can be disappointing and dry).

The second I walked in I was greeted and felt as if I was home. The restaurant brought me back to Greece immediately and the food was amazing so flavorful! My family is from Greece and they love this place!

I have already eaten a few times at Bahari yet this past Sunday I came here with a party of 10 adults plus 3 kids to celebrate my birthday and have a pleasant celebration dinner with my family. The food is always freshly cooked l, simple but with delicious flavors and good portions served. I want to thank our waiter whom accommodated each one of us & took care of all of us with extreme patience, kindness & professionalism, I absolutely loved the fact that we never felt rushed & we had time to move from appetizers, to main course, to coffee and my birthday cake (which we brought). As I mentioned already the food cooked and served here is absolutely trustworthy with authentic Greek flavors, the restaurant has so many plants inside which made me feel right at home, it is elegant & with great ambiance for a beautiful dinner or lunch. Our favorites were: Greek Salad, Grilled Octopus, Fried Calamari,Krya Pikilia,Grilled Lamb chops, Grilled Branzino, Roasted Lemon Potatoes, Marinated Skewered Chicken, Arni Psito and the delicious rose wine we all shared by suggestion. I was so entertained that I forgot to take photos & videos of all the food but I would update this once I go back again.

There is for me 3 great greek restaurants in Astoria that I’m always visiting! Bahari, is one of them! Amazing fresh sea food,like you never seen! But if you want a more quiet atmosphere, avoid going on the weekend nights, can be a bit loud! But the food, its like heaven on earth! I always eat here the grilled calamari ! MY FAVORITE!! And a Autentique greek salad! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Cheers!!

Came looking for authentic Greek cuisine and was not disappointed. The menu has lots of great Greek options and the food was all delicious, fresh, generous, and made with good quality ingredients. It was a comfortable and friendly family-style place with nice service. Order the Greek coffee at the end! We will definitely be returning.

Neighborhood gem. The fish is always cooked perfectly here, add some fresh olive oil on the table to finish it off. Also great are the meats cooked to order. Sides and most stuff on page 3 is precooked and not as good as the stuff made to order.

True authentic Greek restaurant. If I lived in New York and had a crave for authentic Greek food, this is the only place I would visit.

I came with a student group of 6 teenage boys. The food was fantastic! Everything was delicious and the waitress took great care of us. All of us loved the restaurant. Thank you! I will return with other groups in the future.

Let the New York experience commence! After getting situated in my hotel, I began my journey through Astoria, New York by heading straight to @bahariestiatorio. I was able to quickly get a table for one, and I had a great view of the dining room. I couldn't decide between the oktapodi sharas (grilled octopus) and the paidakia (lamb chops), so I ordered both - absolutely my typical strategy when faced with such a choice. I must admit, this was actually my first time trying Greek octopus, having only had it previously chopped up on Mexican tacos. Since this dinner, I've had the Greek version a few more times, and let me tell you...this was my favorite. The seasoning was perfect, and the texture was not at all chewy, instead proving to be both meaty and satisfying. I have to say, I am officially in love with octopus - ευχαριστώ, @bahariestiatorio!

Finally checked this place out and it’s without a doubt the best Greek restaurant I’ve been to in the city. It’s very lively and casual with friendly service that’s efficient but doesn’t feel rushed. All the dishes we had was awesome with some of the standouts being the grilled octopus and dorado. They have a fairly extensive menu so I can’t wait to come back to try other dishes.

This is a hidden gem! You can’t find the restaurant easily, but once you enter, you’ll be mesmerized by their grilled giant squid (if you like squid). This is my favorite! Whiting is also not bad. Okra and artichoke sides were fully cooked and had a soft side, and were super flavorful! Best EVOO! We have been here a few times. We saw a whole big fish ordered from another table. That looked awesome! Will try the fish next time. Highly recommended!

1st time dining here. Nice simple restaurant, with good service and amazing food. We had the following: Elliniki salad Saganaki Atherina Bakalariakia Lemon potatoes Vegetable rice Mythos beer 1 glass of greek white wine Wow everything from fresh and delicious from beginning to end. When my Greek friend told me that this is one of her favorite Greek restaurants in Astoria , I had to give it a go and I love it. The grilled octopus was juicy and so tasty . The salad was fresh . And the moussakas was incredible good (quality meat and soft potatoes) I also love the side of artichoke (although I though the could have put more than one (I needed it).

I always come here for family style dinner with my friends. Food is great, and appetizers can be shared amongst friends. The portion size of the entrees is big as well. I also love the family feel of the restaurant. This place never disappoints.

Super busy place but worth the wait. Authentic Greek food. Tastes just like my mother-in-law’s home cooking! We had the appetizers of eggplant salad, tzadiki, grilled octopus, spinach pie and Greek salad. For dinner we had pork souvlaki and gigantic beans and a side of vegetables-yum! A friend had stuffed peppers-delicious! Everything was outstanding!!

Bahari dishes out true Greek food without tweaking. The calamari, grilled shrimp, and grilled pork chops accompanied with lemon potatoes, xorta, or string beans makes for an amazing meal. We have enjoying the food there for the last 15 years. The food and service never disappoints.

The food is delicious every time we have been there, the staff not so much. But the food is so good it's worth going. One of the best Greek restaurant I've been to. I say give it a try and see do yourself, won't regret eating there. I just wish the staff were more friendly.

I had the baby lamb with a little bit of tomato sauce fabulous. My favorite side dish with the rice with spinach. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. For appetizer we had the spinach pie. I would go again anytime. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The dorado is so delicious. We always order it. Their salad is so fresh. We hardly ever eat okra but theirs is the best I’ve ever tasted. We have several different friends who travel from Manhattan to eat here with us. Consistently great food and very reasonable.

We have been going for years to this restaurant, the food is amazing and so is the atmosphere...we had a little problem once when going with a big group, even with reservation they couldn’t guarantee us there would be space for our stroller. Since then, every time we go they always find a table for us and make sure our baby is super comfortable. This is the best restaurant in Astoria and it feels like home!

Not only is the food great--authentic, full portions-- the prices are so reasonable. There is also this sense of energy in the room. I suppose it is the combination of the patrons and the servers. You can sit and have a long Sunday lunch and feel like you're at home. I really enjoy this place consistently.

The food. The service. The ambiance. All are wonderful. They always go above and beyond and the food is brought out expeditiously and professionally. There are so many choices and I always over order and over eat!! Celebrating a special occasion for my nephews birthday and they were extremely attentive and provided excellent customer service. Pricing was also reasonable considering how much we ate. Give them a try, you won’t regret it..
