Basically a cafeteria but it's nice. Super nice. Alcoholic drinks, yummy food, good service. Prices are high but what do you expect from the top of Aspen Mountain? Cozy, warm, and has great view spots (from outdoor patio) and from the huge windows. A fireplace too, with nice big bathrooms. Very clean.

A must visit while in Aspen. Located atop Aspen Mountain, the Gondola ride is about 20 minutes to get there. The views are breathtaking! There are easy hiking opportunities during the summer, and guided snowshoeing trips winter time at the top. During the summer you have to purchase a Gondola ticket or a sightseeing pass (a sightseeing pass is offered during the winter too for non-skiers). The sightseeing pass is a much better deal, because $10 credit at the Sundeck or Ajax Tavern is included in the price. The pass includes other discounts - bike rentals, Limelight Lounge, etc.
The Sundeck is a large and casual self serve restaurant. The food is pizza and burgers, but they have some healthy options such as salads and a protein bowl for vegetarians. They also have a full bar. Get your food and drinks and sit outside on the deck or anywhere where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery. There are activities for kids - my children love riding the Gondola! Sometimes we buy a ticket to go up and down. Definitely make the Sundeck one of your stops while in Aspen. At least the pictures will be totally worth it paying for the Gondola ticket.

2 stars being given for the wonderful views. Please know how difficult this facility and the newer building (Aspen Mountain Club) next door are to host a wedding or special event. The venue is open to the pubic until 4pm - so any vendors have to scramble usually within a two hour (or less) window of time to be prepared for the wedding ceremony/reception to start. the management team from The Little Nell (that run and operate the sundeck and Aspen Mountain Club) is constantly changing. There always seems to be some type of communication issues and vendors don't find out about changes until they arrive.

The sundeck is under construction at the moment, but there are still dining options inside. Many of the tables inside have magnificent views of the majestic mountains. A fireplace is the focal point for others. Outside, there are still some seating options available at overlooks. Picnic tables abound as well. As for the food, the pizza I had was tasty and the portions were generous.

Very good casual ski dining in a beautiful top of the mountain location
Definitely something for everyone, not overpriced and good to spend half an hour there or 2 hours if you so wish.
It’s also a good meeting point
The Chile is especially notable 5/5
The pad Thai is pretty good 4/5
The black bean bowl is a 5/5
