This restaurant was legit! Amazing German food and the prices were reasonable. We ordered the bratwurst and the Vienna salad. Amazing service and we will be back.

Nice Hidden German Gem. I've passed this little cabin/restaurant many times, and today I finally had a chance to stop in for lunch. You walk in and feel like you're in your German Grandpa's hand built cabin. The decor is quirky and fun, with beer mugs hanging from the ceiling and knickknacks everywhere. The lunch menu is small but has all the offerings you'd expect. I went with the housemade bratwurst on a fresh pretzel roll. They make almost everything on the menu in house, and when it comes to sausages that's hard to come by anymore. When my food arrived I was impressed with the size of the brat. It had great flavor and the pretzel roll was fantastic. The hot German potato salad and red cabbage slaw served along side were amazing too (especially the potato salad). I'm excited to return for dinner or another lunch. My lunch was $8.50, with no drink. Perfectly fair price if you ask me. I saw the dinner prices and they were nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews on here make it seem... Right on par, or below, the other German places here in the AVL area. Huge beer selection too if you're wanting to feel really German. Service was fast and friendly. I would highly recommend giving Bavarian Dining & Biergarten a try.

Great and Authentic German Food. This was a GREAT experience! We moved from a large city and we have been trying new restaurants in the Asheville area with several bad experiences.. We dined at the Bavarian restaurant last night and were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious and having visited Germany, I can say that it was true to form. The Blue Angel Schnitzel was perfect, potato pancakes are tasty. I shared an appetizer ( Brat Sampler) with the crusty and fresh bread and butter, it was very good. We had sides of REAL German potato salad and sauerkraut that didn't come from a jar. Then for dessert we shared an apple strudel. Perfect ending to a great meal. My husband said that the dessert was a as good as his German Grandmother made for him when he was a child!!! Justin was our server and he was so attentive and very well versed in the menu . The service was impeccable. and so friendly! Will be back very soon!

Thank You Ingrid!!!!!. After reading Ingrid's scathing review, in which she graciously posted the owner's frank response, I HAD to eat at this place. The service was gracious. Yeah, they were out of the first two choices my date wanted but we negotiated a nice deal to make it work. Food is delicious, beer is perfect.
Wish I could have met the owner.

Nice with a few quibbles. Good food and very nice atmosphere (if you don't mind the wolf pelt above the fireplace). Lots of regulars, had the feel of a neighborhood restaurant. The owner circulated pouring wine and acting like a host, not a business manager. The food was acceptable though my schnitzel was fairly bland. The cabbage was nice, very sweet and the house "salad" of tomatoes and onions was excellent. Good potato salad though I think some bacon would have improved it. Potato pancakes were overdone but, with sour cream and a really nice fruit compote, we didn't care much--they tasted fine.

Downsides? Service was slow, especially when it came time to get our check. The single waiter seemed to have at least 12 tables in two rooms. It was a wonder he did as efficient and friendly a job as he did.

In true Asheville tradition, dogs are accepted at the outdoor tables, a nice touch for dog lovers if it wasn't 40 degrees (as it was when we visited).

The restaurant is not inexpensive, dinner for two and two glasses of wine was nearly $100 with tip. And be forewarned, they only take Visa and Master Card (and cash, of course), no American Express.

On the whole, a pleasant evening.

Nice, not Great. The decor is a little over done, a few of the entrees were heavy on the seasoning, and the menu is kind of hard to read but overall a nice place for German food. They make the Bratwurst there and they are yummy! They have a Great beer and liquor selection, they carry some hard to find German liquors like Killepitsch!

I’ve been wanting to try Bavarian Restaurant & Biegarten  for a long time. Finally, I got my chance. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss this kitschy spot on Weaverville Highway, between Asheville and Weaverville . Look for a log cabin whose entrance is festooned with colorful umbrellas, picnic tables, flags, and “more”. "More" - Bavarian Shoe Pole Bavarian’s interior is wonderful! Cozy, beer-stein-hung, log and beam heaven. A little “lodge” sneaks in via mounted hunting trophies of all kinds. Multi-flavored housemade bratwurst s  (follow link for better picture) hang at the back of the main dining room. Setting Bavarian apart is their “Wild Beast Feasts” . Wild beast entrees (Frog Legs, Venison, Wild Boar, Ostrich, Elk, Buffalo, Rabbit) are $34.95. We didn’t go there, choosing the regular menu instead. Delicious, crusty housemade bread and  Vienna Salad start off all dinners. Vienna salad, made with seasoned chopped tomatoes and onions was new to me. Mixing each bite with the dressing central

Sometimes it can be risky trying a local restaurant but in this case it was well worth it. It was late afternoon on a Sunday so it wasn't very busy. I am told it can get pretty busy during peak meal hours because they only have one cook. The server was awesome from the time we arrived until.we left. She was very polite and attentive which added to the experience. The food was spectacular. The menu is pretty much the types of dishes you would expect from a German restaurant, with a few extras thrown in. The difference is that they have their own particular twist to the recipes and use no pre-prepared foods. Everything is cooked to order. They have a wide selection of German beers on draft, as well as white and red wines. Exceptional food, great service, and a pleasant environment make it a must if you are travelling through the area.

This is a fantastic, small German restaurant. The food quality and taste is amazing! I had the garlic brat with German potato salad (served warm and tangy) and fried potatoes. The brat was delicious and felt/looked homemade which was awesome. Also their gala mocha is delightful, mocha with peppermint schnapps and whip. Will definitely be eating there again before I go back to Kansas.

Loved it! Small and romantic with authentic German Cuisine. Excellent wine and beer selections. The chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and spatzel were excellent. Our waiter Jason knew the menu well, was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our dinner visit. Planning to return on our next visit to Asheville.

This is a little gem in North Asheville, South Weaverville. We are staying at the Pines Cottages and this place is right at the bottom of the hill. We popped in on a Monday evening (they were only open 5p-9p) and no one else was dining so I thought things might be super sketchy but also realized we aren't here on peak season or day. The server/bartender (can't remember his name... so sorry!) came from the back and had us promptly greeted and seated. Took our drink order quickly which consisted of a half pint of Weihanstephan Hefeweizen and Das Boot of Spaeten Optimator! On tap, wow! Decor was so traditionally German and brought me back to my High School years in German class as these taverns were described. Hot dough rolls complimentary served before our two brats, sauerkraut, red cabbage and apple slice were fantastic. Two other couples popped in while we were eating, too, and the bartender was so welcoming and attentive to everyone. I wish I could take this place back with us when we go home!

Authentic German food and beer. The staff is super nice and friendly. The food portions are big (at least what I had for dinner). Pork schnitzel was great as was the spatzle and red cabbage. Check it out at lunch if you are on a budget, prices almost double for dinner.

Wow! The atmosphere is awesome! You feel like you're in a family members home as soon as you walk the squeaky door. Or if you choose, the outside seating looks great too! I've never been to Germany, but one of the people I ate with had lived there for 4 years and it was all he'd hoped and dreamed it would be. Menu items were spot on. Great beer. Service was outstanding. If you're looking for German food that you would expect to get in Germany, then this is the place to go without having to travel all the way to Germany. We'll most definitely be back. Sadly we didn't know it's been there for 14 years! Must try and its only 9 minutes from downtown Asheville!
