Such wonderful food! We came on the recommendation of a friend who had lived in Korea, and loved their food. They did not disappoint! They easily accommodated my Gluten Free needs, and gave great service, as well. I cannot recommend the KinM Chi and Bulgogi highly enough. We intend to return often!

First time at this restaurant. Small, cozy atmosphere. Clean, neat and lovely decor. Menu offered wide selection of stone bowls. Also lunch box menu available every day. Food was cooked to request. Lovely presentation, fresh, flavorful dishes. Wait staff very friendly, helpful and patient with questions. Will definitely go back.

By far one of the best meals I've ever had. It's not too pricey and a marvelous taste to the ole taste buds. Wait service waitress) was excellent and kept up with refills and making sure you were satisfied. I'm not from the Asheville area but would be worth another trip to this location if you're in the area visiting Biltmore House or Asheville.

Really friendly service. Generous wine pours. Delicious entree (I can't remember the name but it was basically the seafood soup with small udon style noodles) - so savory and huge! Bring your appetite.

This was my first Korean food experience, so I don't have much to compare to. However, both the food and service was phenomenal. We had stone bowls. We'll definitely be back!

Very fast service and really good food. We had a rib dish that was excellent. The waiter was not in good spirits but this did not badly affect the experience. Great pickles.

Tasty, good portion, and great deals!  If you like a lot of meat, get any of their rice dishes with meat or the stone bowl.  I like their jap chae (Korean noodle).  The snack size for $7 is quite a big portion enough for a light lunch.  It's perfect for someone who's not big on meat but loves the noodles.  Fast and friendly service.  No trendy or pretentious decoration so you save your $ on that and only pay for the tasty food!

One of the best Korean restaurants we have ever been to. The beef bulgogi stone bowl's we had were excellent, the rice was crispy with lots of vegetables. Our seafood pancake was excellent, very crispy with lots of sea food and an excellent sauce to go with it. Prices were reasonable and the staff was very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Korean food.

This place is delicious! My husband who isn't crazy about Korean even enjoyed the food. Every single plate we ordered was scraped clean. We ordered edamame, goon man du, Kim bab, and the ever popular bulgogi stone bowl. Service was great, overall an excellent place to enjoy good company and truly tasty food. We will be back, hopefully to take more pictures before inhaling everything.

Wonderful Experience. We absolutely loved this restaurant. My daughter and I decided to stop in for a quick meal and we made the right choice. It started with our waitress who noticed it must be our first time dining here. She went over the house specials, the menu and also reccomended her favorite entrees. She told us she had only been working there for a month or two but we decided to take her word for it and let her order for us. Everything we got was even better than her descriptions and.. it was a lot of food! The stir fry was slightly spicy, the dumpling soup was full of flavor and you get a little bit of everything in each bite of the stonebowl. The entrees all come with side items for your table to share, we couldnt get enough of the pickled dicon raddish! you have to try it. The staff was very attentive and we will definitely be back!

We've been here twice, and have left as happy customers both times. We were hesitant to try this restaurant due to the bad reviews of service, but I'm glad we decided to give it a try. The Bulgogi Stonebowl is our must have item. Service both times has been good. We'll keep coming back for the Stonebowls.

I am a picky Corean when it comes to choose a restaurant, and this place is where I can eat with some wows and ahs. Very good. The only thing is that their rice is not sticky and tasteless. The brown rice is absolutely terrible. Really hard and dry. They don't know how to cook brown rice. Side dishes and main dishes are excellent.

I enjoyed lunch, not a raving fan. We've been meaning to try the Stone Bowl Korean place for some time and finally got around to having lunch there today.

It was a pleasant meal, and I'd go back for dinner, though nothing we had really left me thinking, "I can't wait to go back tomorrow."

The best dish we had was the deep fried calamari ($6) -- basically a tempura-style appetizer. It was excellent. The two of us both had the lunch boxes ($9), a main dish with a couple of side dishes, kim chi, dumplings, white or brown rice and soup. I had the Bul Go Gi, marinated sliced beef, and my spouse the deep fried shrimp.

Both were okay, though the fried shrimp and vegetables were too heavily breaded, not like the tempura-style squid.

I take points off because the restaurant doesn't have any Korean beer, just three Japanese beers, a few local brews and some regular mass beers.

Though the Stone Bowl is in a little strip center on Hendersonville Road, the atmosphere and decor were pleasant, low-key and tasteful. I'd say there were about a 14 or 15 people there for lunch, about one-third full.

Our check came to about $30 before tip, with one appetizer, one beer and two lunch specials. Dinner would probably run $60 or $70.

One of the co-owners is opening another Korean restaurant in downtown Asheville this summer. Although I'm not raving about this spot, Asheville needs all the Asian restaurants it can get, so I'm going to do my little part to suport the Stone Bowl and its new sister place.

DELISH BUT PRICEY. The best deal here is for lunch, especially the bulgogi bento box. Food is very good & we haven't had any issues with service. Dinner, however, is overpriced with everything ala carte. The addition of a small soup and/or salad to a dinner would entirely fix the problem, both being very inexpensive to prepare and serve. We only go for lunch otherwise it's a $50 meal which is absurd for a casual, neighborhood Asian dinner.

Great Food, Spotty Service. I've only hit the Stone Bowl up one time, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. Highly recommend the stone bowl dishes. The service on the other hand was not so great the night I was there. I'm hoping it was an "off" night, but our glasses were often left empty and we were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine or sake. It won't stop me from giving it another whirl though.

Tasted like home-cooking (and that's a good thing!). This was one of the best meals I've EVER eaten out! I'm accustomed to home-cooked Korean food and this was easily on-par with that...and that is a huge compliment. The bulgogi was amazing; can't wait to try the bibimbap next time!

So very good!. This was our first time to a true Korean restaurant. I have cooked Korean dishes not really knowing what I am doing. I have also liked Kimchee for many years while enjoying the fare I have cooked out of various books and internet recipes. I did eat at a Korean street cafe in Melbourne, Florida years ago but really don't remember what I had. But the Stone Bowl is so very good. We started out with the squid plate appetizer. Squid, mushrooms, squash, broccoli and sweet potato all sliced thin and fried to perfection with a spicy green onion soy style dipping sauce. Very good. They bring 7 small bowls of different type of vegetables to share. My wife had Don Katsu fried pork cutlet. I ate as much as she did is was very good. I had the Stone Bowl Bul Go Gi. This bowl comes out at so hot the mixture is cooked inside the bowl at your table. Beef, rice, sweet potato shoots, garlic, green onions and several other things I not sure what they were and all of this top with a half fried egg. If you don't like spicy food tell the server please don't add the chili sauce. I let him add it for me and it was spicy. But then I do like spicy food. If you're not sure you can add as you eat. Then the server stirs all of this together and the aroma almost made me sing. I let the bowl sit and cook for about 5mins while finishing off the squid plate. The rice on the bottom of the bowl a crisp and sweet. I can't say in words how good this bowl was. I ate 95% on top of what I ate of my wife's. Plus we ate most of what was in the 7 bowls. We left stuffed and satisfied. The staff know all the answers? I give it 9 of 10.

Wonderful Food. The Stone Bowl offers great Korean food at reasonable prices. All the favourites are on the menu, and the side dishes are excellent. Adding Radish Kim Chee would be a perfect addition.
They should offer table top Hibachi to complete the menu, but until then the stone bowls and hot plates are adequate.
Next time lunch and Kim Chee Chigae! Can't wait!!!

WOW!. We were walking into a restaurant across the street when we saw Stone Bowl. We jumped in the car and gave it a try instead! It happened to be their first night open, and what an experience! We have had Korean food before, but not traditional stone bowl. All I can say is WOW. The food was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and very vibrant. Fantastic attention to detail and tradition. The flavors of all our dished were top notch. Two of us got stone bowls, one of us got a crispy garlic chicken dish. All three were flawless. Every entree also comes with a variety of small sides like Kimchi. I was so excited when we left that there's a place like this in town. Can't wait to go back! Service was friendly and quick, atmosphere was relaxing, and (I can't say enough) the food was delicious! Go enjoy this dining experience ASAP.

Korean food was on the menu for dinner tonight, so we ended up at Stone Bowl in Asheville.  We were both pretty exhausted from a day of hiking and just wanted to fill our bellies with good food.  We started off with the Goon Man Du. These were some awesome dumplings.  Crispy on the outside with a delicious filling.  For his entree, Loren got the Doi Ji Stonebowl. He really enjoyed it.  The bowl is super hot and you have to mix it all together.  There’s rice on the bottom that gets a little crispy and it all melds together just perfectly.  I went for the Tang Su Yuk. It’s a sweet and sour chicken dish with lots of veggies. The chicken was crispy and crunchy and the sauce had a nice flavor to it. The sides they were serving today were seaweed salad, pickled cucumber, fried tofu, radish, bean sprouts, Kim chi, and potato in sweet sauce.  We both really enjoyed the entire meal.  Total bill with a drink was $42 Stone Bowl Korean 1987 Hendersonville Rd, Ste A Asheville, NC 828-676-2172 Food Service Atmosphere Value

Myself and two “never-beens” had dinner at Stone Bowl last week. In a small strip mall at 1987 Hendersonville Rd, (South) Asheville, NC, it’s easy to miss. Whatever you do, don’t miss it! Korean cuisine is well-known by some, but is new to many in the Carolinas. Stone Bowl staff are exceptionally friendly and more than willing to describe various dishes and explain how things work. You’ll know you’re eating Korean when the  Banchan (side dishes) arrive at your table. These can be few or many, and are meant to be shared throughout the meal. Some restaurants will re-fill if needed. I didn’t think to ask our server if Stone Bowl does this. There are so many different kinds of Banchan, restaurants change them out every now and then. We had: Top left to right: : Potatoes with Sweet Glaze, Traditional Kimchi (cabbage & radish), and Pan-Fried Tofu Bottom left to right : Cucumber Kimchi, Bean Sprouts, Pickled Radish (one of my faves), and Seaweed Salad. I love their various namesake dishes – S

As with many of my reviews, this was my first time eating Korean and it was a fun experience. I ordered the fried dumplings as an appetizer and it came with a sweet dipping sauce. They were light and flavorful. The entrée I ordered was the salmon bowl and it was a very hot and delicious experience. I won't give any other details as this is better experienced and words simply won't do it justice.

I LOVE Korean food and this was no exception. I had never had a stone bowl so it was a treat. I got the rice cake and dumpling stone bowl and loved it. The rice cakes were the perfect amount of chewy and the dumplings were delicious. My husband got the bulgogi and loved it too. We also got the Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) and it was yummy. The sides were yummy too.

I think the foods here are pretty decent. The spicy pork belly is tasty. It was the best among what we ordered there. Even though Jab Chae was not as good as the ones I had before at other Korean restaurants, the beef in the dish was tender and well-marinated. Service was just okay in my opinion. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Super friendly staff, and the food was wonderful. I will be back. I'm so glad I found this place. My only knock is the music it's a bunch of covers done by people who don't sound good or add anything to the songs. A must if you're near.

Stone Bowl is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. We have brought guests from out of town and in town, and now it is everyone's favorite! I usually get the kim chi ji gae with no pork, diluted with broth to make it less spicy. But my tolerance has built up from going there so much. Great kimchi, noodles, sides.. and the bowls are mouth-watering good. I also appreciate that they treat their staff so well. Our server told us that she has worked there for 9 years! That she loves it there! Great to have the same server who always knows our order.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Stone Bowl Korean Restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor. The stir fry was fresh and perfectly cooked, showcasing the chef’s expertise and attention to detail. One standout for me was the matcha ice cream. It was a delightful ending to the meal, offering a refreshing and creamy taste that left me wanting more. The balance of flavors in the ice cream was just right, and it was evident that high-quality ingredients were used. Overall, my experience at Stone Bowl Korean Restaurant was outstanding. The delicious food, particularly the flavorful stir fry and delightful matcha ice cream, made it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates authentic Korean cuisine and wants to indulge in a truly satisfying meal.

We found this little gem while traveling to Asheville to pick some stuff up for my brother. While we were searching we didn't find any other Korean options so we decided to give Stone Bowl a chance. With it being the only real Korean place e could find, we weren't expecting the most authentic flavors but we can never pass up a chance to try a Korean spot. When we entered the front doors, the place was nicely decorated and had a really welcoming feel to it. We were greeted and told we could sit anywhere we would like. When we were brought the menu we were surprised at how many options it had and how great sounding and looking everything was. We started out with some traditional Kimbap. Kimbap is Kimbap, and Stone Bowl definitely delivered...but my favorite surprise was the dipping sauce they brought out with it. I've never had a sauce like that served with Kimbap before and it was a very very nice addition. The three of us decided to all order stone bowls but with different meats. When the food came the main thing I was discouraged about was the lack of banchan that was brought out with it. Luckily for Stone Bowl, the couple of dished they do serve are packed with so much good flavor that it reminds me of a good home cooked meal by my Korean family. I will say that corn in the stone bowl was a little odd as I've never had it served like that before but it did offer a nice flavor and texture to the dish. All the meats tasted great and so did the ingredients that made up the bowls. After letting the bowl sit for a minute and crispen up the rice in the bottom, I poured some of the gochujang and the kimbap sauce on my bowl, mixed it up, and devoured it! Service, atmosphere, and food were all great. I will definitely be trying Stone Bowl again next time I am in the area!

Plenty of parking available. Lots of vegetarian options. The cider was excellent. I loved the tofu stone bowl. The egg cooked while you were eating. The food was delicious and I have been craving it again. Unfortunately, our service was lackluster. We had to wait awhile to have our order taken and they gave us the wrong food initially. Would have loved to give 5 stars, but I couldn't due to the service issues.

Hendersonville Road strikes again. Very cute little corner restaurant in a small strip mall. Parking is easy. The restaurant was very busy when we got there. We were seated in 10 minutes and got our food in very good time. We both got Stone Bowls. They're so, so good. The veggies are all very fresh, the pork belly is delicious, and all the fixins they give you before hand are great. The beer selection is pretty decent too. I guess I don't have any criticisms. I'm not super familiar with Korean food. But dang, this was tasty. We'll be back very soon. Update This has become our go-to spot on Hendersonville Rd. Get the pork belly Kimchi stir fry, spicy, add a fried egg. Thank me later. Bless this place

OMG! If there were words to describe the deliciousness, I still wouldn’t be able to use them because my mouth would be full 😂 In all seriousness, being a Celiac/gluten free diner - it made me feel extremely reassured when the staff was very on-top of it. He provided a specific menu where dishes that are safe are circled, brought GF soy sauce before I could ask for it, and made sure the spicy sauce that could cross contaminate was left off the dish. The food was delicious and I had absolutely no reaction. *insert chef’s kiss Gluten free or not - TRY THE DDUK BOK KIN (I think that’s pretty close) from the appetizer menu. It’s delicious!
