Sugar Beat

I need two main things from a Cafe. They are Good Coffee and a Good Breakfast. Sugarbeat has both Great tasting coffee and they make an Incredible breakfast. I can highly recommend their Breakfast menu - good variety, generous sizes and good toast! Their coffee has a smooth taste and that perfectly textured milk that you crave. My favourite breakfast is the "Bedouin Eggs" with bacon. Price is excellent value and the service is friendly.

While I was holidaying in Melbourne. The place I was staying at had this delightful cafe at the end of the street. Most mornings I'd wander over to the cafe for breakfast (or lunch). The food was consistently tasty and the coffee was perfect just the way I like it (I'm quite particular about my flat whites). I was also pleasantly surprised at how fast the service was. Most of the meals I ordered came out to me within about 5 minutes. Also the staff were good company too. Definitely worth a visit, if your passing that way.

Ordered a coffee and a donut (which I didn't want) but it still wasn't enough to pay with my card. I managed to scrap up $4 in coins and ordered a coffee again to be told it was $4.50 for soy. Their staff need to be trained to be more flexible it was obvious I was trying to pay for it ..won't be going back and my husband won't be calling in every morning for his coffee either

This place continues to get better and better ...from an already great base. Draught proofing against Melbourne's chills, fantastic new coffee arrangements (don't ask me I am not an expert but a new grinder ensures fabulous coffee every time) ... small but significant things which make the pleasures of coffee, casual eating and catching up with friends so enjoyable here. There is a great energy and good humour driving this local treasure.

I thought this place was good a few years ago. Now it's run by people who have no idea about customer service. Orders are often forgotten or wrong, if you're lucky enough to get a waitress to serve you. The last time I went (and I will never go back) I ordered a take away coffee but some attractive man who came in after me and ordered 3 coffees got his order first and when I finally got my new order the lid was not secured so the coffee spilt over me and burnt my chest. I was already at my wits end with this place but that was the final straw. Good luck with the service if you decide to go here.

To alex mann Sorry for the inconvenience you have had tho our kitchen closes 1 hour before our closing time "despite being advertised as open". Last hour is only coffee & cakes. So once our kitchen is closed it is closed it has been like this for many years and this is even written on our menu. I hope you understand :). so if you ever like to come back for one of those delicious sandwhiches again try to make it before our kitchen closes 😊 thank you.
