Review Tanner Jacks - Arroyo Grande

Great food, friendly and helpful staff- they’ll top off your mimosa like it’s water! I saw them mixing it though- plenty of champagne in those mimosas. The owner is very friendly and approachable. He walks through and talks to the customers and makes omelettes however you like them. They have great tri-tip and country-fried steak, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, and breakfast sausage. They also have fruit, oatmeal, Belgian waffles, whipped cream, and strawberries. The entire meal + mimosas = $22.95 ($24.61 after tax), but I think it’s less if you forego the mimosas.

We had a great time hanging out as part of our Ladies Brunch group. The food was fantastic, with omelette s cooked in front of us with fresh ingredients. The people serving and creating the food were helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Great reception by hostess. Monday evening 4pm less crowded. Bread brought to table delicious. Shared the baby back ribs w baked potatoes instead of fried. Delicious also. We'll definitely go back when in the area. BTW, Heather was an awesome waitress🙂

My husband and I had our 1st dining experience at Tanner Jack's today, and we both really enjoyed their Sunday brunch. Their food is amazing, the Western decor is very welcoming, and couldn't have asked for better service! We can't wait to go back!

Great food, great service, great owners. We always look forward to the fried picke appetizers and the bread rolls with flavored butter. Tri tip and ribs are consistently good. The menu has changed, but it was still a great meal. Only complaint: Bring back the creamed corn!

I live on the Palo Mesa and tried Tanner Jacks when it first opened years ago and was not impressed. Since then the place changed owners (Michael and Kelly rock) and it is a completely different restaurant. The food is awesome and the service is great too. They have a cozy little bar to enjoy and they make their own beer which they are really good at. Everything I have tried there has been great except for the coleslaw... not a big fan of coleslaw with sesame seeds in it... almost like Chinese food I think. Big helpings, open most holidays with specials like mother's day brunch and right on the mesa... what more could you ask for?

Old western interior. Food was excellent! House beer was tasty. My wife and I were the only one's there around 3 p.m. And the waitress was very helpful to first-time customers.

First time eating here and Imust say if you have never been then get there!! Super fast service and Julieta our server recommended the daily special sooo good and what a deal!! Awesome rustic country homie feeling and if you have little ones who get bored fast they have an entire table of family games to play. Me and my fiance played cards whole we waited the very short wait for our delicious food. The price was so low i had to double check and make sure it was correct! I have never been here before but i know wothput a doubt ill be back very soon, tell your friends and family to go eat at Tanner Jacks they wont disappoint!

Overall, the food was great. Unfortunately, my husband's lunch cap steak was pitifully small. We estimated it was a mere 2 ounces for $17. We figure if we ever make six figures per year again, we'll go back and order 10 to get a decent-sized meal.

Chef Michael is amazing! Real food for real people. Sunday brunch is not a discussion, it’s an event! Tri-tip, chicken fried steak, omelets, shrimp, waffles!!! The service staff goes above and beyond!!!!! Thank you Tanner Jacks for making the trip from Portland complete!

I had gone here once for dinner years ago and drove by it a few weeks back so I decided it was time to visit again. A very close friend just celebrated his 30th birthday and we had missed going to visit him for it. I invited him to meet us at Tanner Jacks for the brunch so we could catch up and treat him. As much as I hate to review a buffet, I was pleasantly surprised that the brunch was in fact a breakfast buffet. Making it better is that my buddy can eat... a lot. They had fresh made to order omelets and waffles as well as a number of options like hash browns, chicken fried steak, corned beef hash and potatoes and several other dishes to choose from. On top of the entrees they also had coffee cakes and fresh fruit available. We ordered a round of mimosas to start the morning off, to our surprise they turned out to be bottomless! My first round I picked up small portions of many of the options. There was a wonderful BBQ roast with light barbecue sauce, surprisingly still pink despite the buffet set up. Then I tried a sausage that had been cooked in a smoky and spicy barbecue sauce, fantastic, I had to go back for more. Chicken fried steak is a breakfast staple, especially when paired with biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a great single serving size for a buffet and very fresh, not too dry but still a bit flaky. The gravy they make was great, nice and creamy with bits of ground sausage. Chicken fried steak was also very good, lightly breaded and cooked just right. The hash browns were probably my favorite buffet dish. Normally I lean toward crispy hash browns, but Tanner Jack's cheesy hash browns opened my eyes! They were amazing, great texture and flavor. Then there was the corned beef hash which is something I generally reserve for St. Patrick's Day. A very nice fresh mixture of potatoes and onions along with the beef. The corned beef itself was some of the best I have had as well. On the second round I decided to get seconds of the hash browns and sausage in sauce. I also ordered a waffle and a mushroom spinach omelet. The omelet was cooked just right and was quite good. The waffle had a toppings bar consisting of fresh cut strawberries, a cinnamon-sugar mix, lightly caramelized apples, chocolate chips, whipped cream, and syrup. Mixing the cinnamon mix with the caramelized apples and a bit of syrup made for an amazing combination. I also threw in some chocolate chips to the traditional strawberries and whipped cream. During the time we were at the table the waitress was very attentive and friendly, continuing to top off our drinks and bringing fresh silverware between plates. She brought us the bill and I was shocked to find the mimosas were included in the Sunday Brunch. I couldn't have been happier, Tanner Jacks is now certainly my go to place for a Sunday breakfast/brunch.

Great steaks, shrimp and the best chicken fried steak. We always enjoy here and you can write and draw all over your table with provided creations. Always good for dinner portrait competition

Love Tanner Jack's! We live in a rural area of town and this is our go to dinner spot. We love to get away for a bit and grab a quick drink with some good appetizers. They have the best breakfast burritos and wonderful Sunday brunch!

Went in for Sunday brunch and it was the best brunch I have had. Made to order omelets with a large selection of toppings. Fluffy waffles that melt in your mouth. Best biscuits I've ever had! So many choices of potatoes, fruit and meats. Definitely worth the price!

We went in for dinner tonight. The service was ok, but the food was really awful. It did come out of the kitchen hot, but the quality just wasn't there. One plate came with mashed potatoes that we SO runny. My daughter had the Shrimp Scampi, and to be honest, it was the worst presentation of this dish ever! It came served in an ice cream sundae dish! The only flavor that was present on the dry noodles was wine. No butter, no garlic. My son and I got the Chicken alfredo. While mine came oily and greasy, my son's was soupy. So soupy in fact, that he was able to pour all of the runny sauce over my daughter's scampi, which didn't help. How two identical dishes came out so differently, is beyond me. Bummer, because I've heard such good things about this place.

Our service was horrible, food came out burnt (chicken strips), just black. Should have never left the kitchen.. Then paid with our gift card that stated was empty and made us pay with we had the authorization attached with the the gift card. The owner was rude and not even apologetic at all when situation was resolved. Poor service and rude owner. Wouldn't recommend this place EVER!!!!

Sunday Brunch was an awesome way for 10 of us to celebrate my wife's BDay!! Totally affordable for very good spread of choices. Chef Michael Stevens was at the Strawberry Festival in AG but the staff did a fine job. Everyone was very responsive to any request, the table was nicely prepared & presented for the casual BDay. Food was very tasty and had Chef Michael's signature recipes & flavors that I've come to love and appreciate. Everything from biscuits and gravy to tri tip & shrimp! Great time in the homey, country-style setting that just fits our preferences. Our group will be back again and again. Best Brunch value around.

Ended up here by accident today, and boy are we glad we did. The Sunday brunch was unbelievable, and a total bargain. When he found out our son was on a gluten-free diet, Michael made him a gluten-free pizza, no charge, just to try. The NICEST people and the best food. We will definitely be back and will patronize the new SLO location of Palo Mesa Pizza.

The best Meatloaf; never even considered getting it anywhere else. Had the salmon before also. You just can't go wrong. Friendly and genuine wait staff. Reasonable prices. Worth every penny. The best brunch period. One of the nicest most hands on owners. Can't say enough good things.

Tanner Jacks catered my wedding yesterday and it was perfect. Chef Michael knows what he's doing!! His wife Kelly was more than helpful in planning all the details. The wait staff is fantastic. Christy and Robby are the best. They went above and beyond. It was an honor to serve this amazing food with all of our friends and family! We have always loved to eat at TJs but the catering was even better!
