Bawarchi Grill & Spirits

I came into town to visit my dad and we went to Bawarchi Tuesday night. We shared dishes and yesterday my dad was extremely ill. I thought he just wasn't feeling well but then I started feeling really sick last night as well. I was up the entire night with stabbing stomach cramps, nausea, etc etc. And we realized that the Indian food was the only possible culprit as we were both feeling fine and didn't share any other food or go anywhere else. My dad had to call in from work yesterday and I cannot get out of bed or eat anything still today. Very sick!!!! 🤢🤢🤢 The color/taste of the butter chicken was off and not like any I've ever had before. The saag paneer was ok and I still thought the dal was good but none of this really matters because we both clearly have some type of food poisoning or norovirus viral stomach bug from eating there. I actually remember seeing on the wall their sanitation score which is currently 88, and I remember thinking that is pretty low compared to other places I've seen. What is the minimum score to be open for service?!

Went thr with a big hope of great food but 😞 …. Service was super slow . Paneer butter masala and butter chicken was 0 out of 10. It felt like we were eating ketchup with chicken and sugar in it. Btw butter chicken is never red specially this red and extremely sweet 😂. Chicken fried rice and garlic naan was amazing.

So the food here is pretty good. However, the staff is lacking. Some of them are highly motivated great workers. However, the front of house staff who seats and helps customers up front is really bad at their job. After waiting 10 minutes someone finally approaches I tell them hey I need to pay for my food they tell me to wait seat someone who came after which is fine but then disappeared and never showed back up. So I went to the bartender to tell them to keep the food and leave. He graciously checked me out and went to check on the food which apparently already ready and getting cold in the back. It’s a good place for a decent meal but be ready to wait on yourself a bit. I would blame Covid but I think part of the problem is the restaurant I had similar issues at their other location where they wouldn’t bring us a drink after asking for one because the food was too spicy for one our guests. I had to go to the back and fix it myself. It’s sort of a similar issue here.

Food was good. A bit blander than most Indian places but not bad. The garlic Nan was the biggest disappointment. It had little garlic or spices. The kind middle aged guy folding napkins was working extra hard to help with the slack left by our main server. The server never checked to see if we needed refills or dessert.
