Sometimes one gets up on the wrong side of the bed and needs to get back into bed and do it again. Last week I posted a less than flattering review after learning the kitchen had been closed even though the restaurant was still open. I had heard such good things about Red Chair and really wanted to try it, so was very disappointed. In response to my post, the owner responded and apologized, indicating all orders should be taken if put in before 3 p.m. on Sunday. He was gracious enough to invite me back to try again. I did with 3 good friends and was delighted by the food and service. My server, Rob, and his fellow server, Nick, were great. Very courteous, nice, and attentive. The food was amazing. We started with Kachemak Bay Oysters that were delicious. I had the 40 day aged rib eye steak with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. Very tender and rich taste. My colleagues had the rockfish (excellent), the Navajo Taco Salad which was very good and had a bit of a spicy kick, and the Red Chair Salad which is like a Chef Salad but better. Wonderful greens and meats. I cannot highly recommend the Red Chair enough and am glad I had an opportunity to go back and give it another try. Thank you Steve for your kind response and hospitality. My friend Luke took me here, he says it’s his favorite place to get breakfast— I’m from out of town so almost any place in Anchorage is new to me.
When I first walked in, we were greeted with a smile and asked how we were doing— great first impression.
Whilst waiting to be seated, the ambiance of the café is spectacular, calm, open, welcoming, quiet. The decor was gorgeous, the music selection was unique while the volume wasn’t too loud nor was it too quiet.
The waitress was nice, patient and attentive, she checked up on us frequently enough to know we weren’t forgotten, but not too much to the point we felt rushed.
The overall experience was spectacular. The food was great, the service was excellent, and atmosphere was relaxed and playful.
I will definitely have to come back when I’m in town again!
Had the smoked salmon bacon egg Benedict and orange and almond crusted baked french toast both were excellent. Serves was great. Loved the artwork

This is not one of my favorites, this IS my favorite place to come to eat when I am in my home city. The Barista knows I'm a regular, she knows what I like, she is a wonderful person and always has a smile on her face. The food is fantastic, the drinks are excellent, the ingredients they use are just hands down quality ingredients. And when I say this place is my favorite I mean it, when I come back to Anchorage I go there at least twice even 3 times, I'd go there everyday for every day I spent in Anchorage if I could. I spread the word about the Red Chair of how amazing it is, the atmosphere is uplifting, the food the deserts, the drink, you guys are on point and God Bless you all. Everything on the menu is delectable. My favorite burger I had ever had in town, being born and raised in Anchorage for 21 years of my life, I had the best burger here, at the Red Chair Cafe. I believe you guys will grow into something big. Keep on doing your thing and I'll keep on sending people your way so you may satisfy them as you have satisfied and continue to satisfy me. Thank you, Red Chair Café. You have a spot in my heart.
Excellent food!
I had the Fire Roasted Poblano Pepper and Seared Asparagus with Onions and Almonds for breakfast. Wow..... Hubby had bacon and eggs and the bacon was wonderful - and we're kinda fussy about our bacon. We will be back.
The whole interior is decorated very cool and interesting.

Highly recommend the lemon poppyseed pancakes! I think they make it to the top of the list of pancakes I've tried! Good service and funky atmosphere too.
