Review Poochie's Place - Amelia

John Brockhoeft
It was my first time here, and it was a remarkable experience. The waitress in the photo was very sweet and attentive and cheerful. I got a #1 breakfast plate which includes a couple of eggs, goetta, home fries, and choice of bread. I ordered my eggs over medium and they were done to perfection. I like my home fries to be well grilled, but was afraid if I ordered them that way they might be overdone. They were fried to perfection with diced sweet onions mixed in. Shortly after I ordered I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder. It was my waitress asking if I would mind if an old Army veteran (I found out he was 92) sat with me at my table. She said he liked to talk to people. I like to talk to people and listen as well, so I was glad for the company. He agreed to let me take his picture seen in this review. Before our food came he started singing and dancing with our waitress through the narrow spaces between the rows of tables. After we ate he started singing and dancing with the other waitress all around the restaurant while other diners were smiling and chuckling. I like mom and pop kinds of places, and it doesn't get any more mom and pop than this. Visiting this place isn't just a meal, it's an experience!

Such a cute place. Beware, it's small! You sit really close to other tables. Our food was great! They don't have gluten free bread or pancakes, FYI. Our server was great! They really work as a team to ensure the tables get clean quickly and keep you coffee topped off.

Great breakfast spot! The food was above average, the portions were probably more than most people can eat at one time. Our server, Valerie, was very friendly, she helped with the decision on what to get as this was our first time visiting, she checked in just enough, not so much as to be a bother and she also did not neglect us. One thing is for sure, if you leave there hungry, it’s your own fault! Enjoy!!

This is just a Down Home great place to get some awesome food. It's definitely a very homey and fun restaurant. I got three eggs, goetta, hash browns, and an English muffin with sausage gravy. It was amazing. The service was great. The inside of the restaurant is very pleasing. This is definitely a place you have to check out.

Excellent breakfast choice on the east side of Cincinnati. Poochie's is small but turns tables quickly. We visited on a Sunday around 11am and waited about 15 minutes for a table. I ordered the breakfast sandwich(sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant), my husband had the 3 meat omelette, and we split a pecan waffle. All of the food was delicious and the portions were large for the price. Service was friendly and our food was prepared pretty quickly.

I love restaurants like these! Full parking lot, always a great sign. It's not fancy. Just great food but clean and good. Lauren was a great server! The wait wasn't too long given they were packed. I'm guessing they alway are. I had the goetta LT (GLT). Great! My friend had the Grilled goetta and cheese. It looked great too. So if you're on the east side up by Amelia, drop in and have some good food. I need to go back to try the Bradster (how did I miss that?).

First time and wow you got the Braxton home fries and a waffle. The waffle taste like the best funnel cake you ever had. The Braxton is so good but so feeling. The home fries have to be the best I've ever had they were tender we get crispy and a good flavor. Has a black coffee drinker, you guys have the best drinkable coffee.

French toast, eggs, and Goetta were fantastic. Our server and the other staff were friendly and seemed to anticipate our needs from the moment we sat down. I would expect to pay much more for this type of overall experience at a restaurant.

Service was fantastic as each person did what I expected they should do. Food tasted as expected. I ordered a BLT with an egg. My associate ordered a dish with sausage gravy hash browns and scrambled eggs. Serving size was excellent. Whenever I return and try something different, I will up the star if it is the same. 5 star restaurants are 5 star restaurants. Will return.

Tasty little place for breakfast. I will say this place gets incredibly busy in the morning, and for their waffle it is definitely well deserved. The pancakes were tasty as well and I would definitely recommend either. Overall, the good prices and tasty food make this a good place for breakfast and I would definitely return.

Loved Poochies. Great food and service but now I am addicted to Goetta!!? Took the idea back to Oz and now it's a regular Sunday breakfast treat. Still not quite right but very tasty. Atmosphere in this place was great. Lot's of people but not too loud so you can still have a great social breakfast and not be drowned out by other patrons. Service was excellent and staff were very accommodating. So thank you Poochies.

Poochie’s was a great find for a local east side restaurant! They have their breakfast down to a science. The bacon and goetta were crispy and delicious and their French Toast was spot on! Not to mention a very friendly and welcoming staff. We will definitely be back on a regular basis.

This is truly a home town restaurant. Family, Friends and Good Food. If there is a line to get a table, then you know its worth the wait. Some say the regulars get preferential treatment, put we know they don't. They are just well known that some don't even have to order. Poochie is truly a gem. Stop in for a great meal.

Poochies Not. Fast. Food. This is downright home cooking, and that's what it's meant to be. I saw a comment saying you could make it at home and that's the point. These are the pancakes grammes would have made you. It's a smaller business, sit down, talk with friends and families and enjoy your food. It isn't meant to be a frozen burger tossed down and done in 2 minutes flat. Good food, huge portion sizes and friendly staff.

Owner is rude and made me pay for a meal I didn't like I took 3 bites out of it went to go pay an was told I'm still Bing made to pay for it don't go there rude and treat there customers like shit

The food was great for a decent price. The staff was friendly, and I could tell who some of the regulars were by how they interacted. I will definitely be back.

We go there every visit to Cincinnati. We love this place. Amazing food!!

The food was good, but you can tell they give preferenti al treatment to regulars. A table of 4 that came in 15 minutes after me had their food before my table of 2. The waitress was nice and the woman who rang me up was very polite and courteous. I would definitely return for the food alone.

I love supporting small businesses especially those involving food. However, this place was ok. Food wasn't anything special. I could have just fixed at home. Nice people but VERY slow service. The place just seemed greasy and dirty.
Faith Lynn Clark
Awesome food, great prices and very friendly staff!

Ate here for the first time today. I'm very picky about breakfast. Nothing to pick on here. Home fries are the best I've ever had. The food, service, and atmosphere are exceptional. Will be returning!

You will not find a better place to eat in the greater Cincinnati area. Take a step back in time, where they actually care about the quality of their food and service. Great food, service and value...what more could you ask for?

Great food and great service! We eat there every Sunday after church. It's our favorite!
