We came to Auction Yard Cafe to meet with a friend; will return for the food. WOW! Everything was made from scratch and so delicious. The portions were generous and full. I ordered an omelet with bacon in it - Instead of a hint of crumbled bacon sprinkled in, there were several yummy nice-sized pieces. My husband said his pancakes were the best he'd ever had. It's true, so I can't be offended! I could go on and on... The only downside is that they are not open 24/7!

Cozy atmosphere, 3 MAYBE 4 bar stools to cozy up to the counter and get coffee and watch Cheryl cook her magic.
This location can be easily missed (I did) as it didn't look like a place to eat.
Where locals come to eat!
Auctions happen 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at noon

A great little down to earth diner. The chicken fried steak was recommended and I tried it and it was good but a little bit overdone. Still the meal is great and I'll be back to try something else another time on my way through on another trip.

Great food large portions it's kinda old but the chicken fried steak is the best I've ever had hands down the staff are friendly not so much the farmers that frequent the place but that doesn't bother me but yes if your hungry the it's the right place

Home Style Cooking!
The burgers aren't from a frozen bag of stuck together mystery meat. They are hand patted, just like home! There soups are super great as well.
Whether you just got off your horse, been moving cows all day or pulled up in that shiny Lexus, go on in, you won't be disappointed in whatever you got a hankering for!

The Auction Yard Cafe is the place to eat while in Alturas! The wait was a little long because of the smaller kitchen, and only seats about 30 people at a time. Floor was a little stucky... but meh, not a big deal. Food did not all come out together but pretty close, it was hot and fresh! Wendy our server was amazing and kept up with the rush, and made sure we were all doing good. Coffee was a bit strong for my liking, hot coco was really good! Very highly recommended!
