After being closed for almost 18 months I was so excited to hear the Modern General was finally opening back up! They had a soft opening offering free meals to it's patrons for a limited time of 2 days. Upcoming entering the restaurant the friendly staff greeted us with such a warm welcome. The ambiance and decor was so bright, warm, and curated perfectly. Gil, our waiter, was so kind and attentive. The food was wonderful (the housemade sausage flavor was really good but a tad salty) and the freshly made juices really hit the spot! Portions were slightly on the smaller side and maybe that was bc everything on the menu was free but the food was delicious nonetheless. The food did take a little longer than normal but if was understandable as this was their first day back in almost two years, so they are still working out the particulars. This the perfect brunch spot in the area and I'll be returning to try other items. Side note: everything is made in house, very few gf/df options, and limited parking so come early or try street parking in the area.
Great food. The corn cakes deliciousness is hard to describe and they are very quick to be devoured. Portions are small by national standards but I think it's just right. Food tastes fresh and the place is impeccable. Great for Saturday/Sunday brunch. I will be frequenting the spot.
The decor and atmosphere offers a great place to meet friends or family for breakfast or brunch. The food was excellent - I highly enjoyed my Albuquerque scramble and sourdough toast! The mimosas were also excellent! I'll definitely be back again.
Stopped in for a quick bite. Very friendly staff. Cute and clean place with a great vibe. Had the avocado toast added the egg. A little too much salt and lime for my preference but still good. I would ask them to tone that down a bit next time. Tasted fresh.
Nice spot for brunch, great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Loved the theming of the place.
Their menu pricing includes tip (but you can leave an optional additional tip if you’d like).
I love this place I really do, but something I can't make sense of is the portions. There is not a single dish on this menu that will actually fill you up, and this is something I've heard amongst other patrons as well. It seems as though the portions keeps getting smaller and smaller and that's something I'd like to see change. Regardless the food is delicious and the service is great. I love all of the owner's restaurants.
Outdoor and indoor seating. Cool spot with a great menu. It was hard to decide but I got the lemon pancakes and a side of bacon with a glass of cold brew. Excellent coffee that didn’t need any sugar. The bacon was crispy and cooked perfectly. The lemon curd was on the side so it was the perfect amount and berries on top.
Nice spot to have a leisurely breakfast. It’s also shop with a small selection of books and other house items. I recommend it for a savory or sweet breakfast.
What a gem! I really appreciate the attention to detail here. The food, drinks, decor was all presented with such care. We ate the pho-sole and coconut cakes and they were both superb. The lavender honey green tea was perfect and they even used bamboo for the straws. I was very impressed.
Great food, hip atmosphere and good service. The menu has a variety of options which are reasonably priced. The highlights were the sunshine bowl and açai bowl, but make sure to try their smoothies and unique drinks.
Two years since my last visit here, and it's gotten tastier in the meantime! Go late afternoon so that it feels less hectic. And the red pepper pancakes sandwiched with smoked salmon and chives.
