This is a great little spot and we love visiting Hasty Freez. The food is not five-star, but totally worth what you pay for it. The youthful staff work hard and we like supporting this local restaurant. They can get very busy so we tend to call ahead and place an order just to give them a hand and to speed things up for us. Their soft serve is some of the best in the area.

Your classic milk shake, ice cream stop. This place is legendary, best milkshakes by far. They also have a small menu with burgers and fries. I've had a burger a couple times but I definitely go here for the ice cream.

You can't go wrong with Hasty Freez - best crinkle fries, burgers are delicious, shakes and ice cream are always worth the splurge. We've been eating there for 30 years and it's always been the same great quality.

Got a soft serve cone and medium fries. Fries were crisp, not salty, which is great for me. Icecream was exactly what I expected, just bigger. Medium cone is huge! Overall, good, just a bit slow.

I arranged to go an hour before I went to work because they take forever. I asked for extra ice and I didn’t get it so I went back. Got all the way across town to find out that they didn’t get my burger right either. At this point I had 15 minutes to get to work. I really want to like this place but the people at the window seem very unhappy, they take too long and they always get my order wrong. Crushed ice isn’t that important

I have always been coming hamburger place since I was a young boy and that's a long time now. The food of any type that you pick from Hasty Freez is great May taste a little bit different than all the rest of them but it's a distinct taste that they have a corner on the market that's why I like them. If you want a milkshake of any type of any mix of any flavors that you can think of in the wide world you can get it here. The help at the windows are great they make sure that you get your orders correctly not like some other restaurants that I know of that have multiple drive-thru windows you are served and the orders correct. Love the taste of their burgers and have always since my grandfather took me there when I was a young boy. I know my sisters when they come to Albany this is the only place they will eat. I usually get what is called the shake box and sometimes if my eyes are bigger than my stomach I will get two hamburgers I don't know why but I will and I will eat them down very fast because they taste so good.

Burgers are so juicy and big! Very close to in and out burger. Very friendly employees! The Crinkle cut fries are tender and fluffy on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside.

Handy and fast. Hasty Freez is handy to downtown work locations and their service is fast. Much better choice than a chain burger and Ice Cream is good, too. Fries are excellent.

Neighborhood dive where all the locals go. Very good hamburgers, fries and milkshakes. Original fry and burger sauces as well. Cheap price for excellent comfort food!

I like it OK, but.................. Maybe the build-up here, and on other sites, was just too great. I understand that this is a long standing institution in Albany and many have histories here going back to childhood. I know from experience that this can give a rose-colored hue to the sepia images our minds harbor.<br/><br/>I have to say I was disappointed. I had a Deluxe Burger; a preformed, pre-frozen patty with Tomato, Lettuce, Pickle and a dab of Mayo on a soft Bun. It was a little reminiscent of diner Burgers of old. But more than anything it reminded me of a big Arctic Circle Burger without the Sauce. The woman at the walk-up window was stressed and did not make a positive impression.<br/><br/>For this type of place, King Kone's got my future business in Albany.<br/><br/>I think the glowing memories I interpreted put my anticipation on a disparate course from reality.<br/><br/>Note: HF has no seating and no rest rooms.

In A World Of Gourmet Burgers.... ...Hasty Freez (dont you dare add that "E") stands as a shining light from the olden days. 50+ years is a long time for a little ice-cream and burger shop to be around. No frilly food snobbery here! Just cheap, classic, and tasty burgers! The ice-cream is great as well and is VERY cheap. I work with teenagers and there is no other place in town that I can purchase ice cream for 15 teens without breaking the bank. If you are looking to take the edge off of a hot day, give em' a taste.

Just dropped by for a quick burger and drink. Two windows were broken and the girls were visibly shaken up. Apparenty I'd just missed a fight! They still made a tasty burger with extra pickle and I felt pretty bad so I left a generous tip. As I was leaving the police were just getting there...
