Sonny's Bbq

Wasn't expecting a whole lot based on the other locations we've been to. But its my fault for going back in to one, because its been a long drive and we're hungry.. Walked in to an empty restaurant around 4:30. No salad bar at this location. Plates and tips on more than several tables, others with no paper towels or napkins. Floors are gross and sticky. Employees not busy, just sitting at tables talking and on their phones. Heres a tip. If you have to pay extra for fries, make sure they aren't cold when they come out. Our waiter made no apologies. Just said it'll be about 5 minutes to get new ones. Grilled cheese brisket was tasty, tho a little soggy. Bathrooms were semi clean. All in all, we have been here 50 minutes,eating now. And those tables still have trash and tips on them, and the staff is still just walking around talking to each other, and dinner rush is about to start.

Normally Sonny's is on point with everything... today they were not. Ordered about 60 dollars worth of food, just to get there and they are out of baby back ribs. They didn't charge me for my fried pickles, but thank goodness they didn't because they were so burnt you couldn't even eat them. VERY DISSAPOINTED, will not be ordering again.

Omg amazing BBQ! Great service and huge portions! Highly recommend if your looking for a good REAL-meal if you have been driving for a long time. They are right off the highway near a gas station with Diesel fuel if you drive a truck. Will definitely stop back when we come back down to Florida again.

We love the food at Sonny's. Their BBQ pork is always so moist and flavorful. We stopped in there recently after the lunch rush to get two pork sandwiches to go. It took over 25 minutes. The little girl behind the bar that took my order, saw me sitting there 15 minutes later waiting on my food asked me if I had been helped. That interaction pretty much summed up the customer service that I received there.

It pains me to write this Big fan of Sonny's, we have been to most of their stores. This store is one of the original ones. This location was not as well run as most, people were waiting outside for a table while others (including us) were seated immediately. Space in the restaurant was not the issue they were just forgotten. My wife and I order pretty much the exact same thing every time we eat at Sonny's. My wife gets the turkey lunch special and I get the sliced pork lunch special. Hers was about average for Sonny's which is good, mine however, was the worst sliced pork I had gotten at any Sonny's restaurant. It was barely sliced and mostly fat. Normally I would have sent this back but unfortunately friends were "treating" us to our favorite restaurant and I didn't want them to feel bad. We had only eaten at this store one other time and that was many years ago. Hopefully this was just a bad day and not the usual

I love the food at the Alachua Sonny’s. It’s cooked right everytime but what makes me continue to come back is our server Amber. After 2 visits she remembered not only us but our orders. She doesn’t assume we are going to order the same thing so she asks and most importantly listens. She makes sure we noticed the specials for the day and works diligently to make sure everything is perfect. The service is always fast, she doesn’t forget the little things like condiments and she knows we have a time limit as it’s our lunch hour and she strives to get us in and back to work on time. She truly cares.
